Race 1: MOUNT FRANKLIN CLASS 3 PLATE – 1110M
 
The start of this race was delayed when SANGLIER was reluctant to leave the mounting enclosure. As SANGLIER was proving difficult to load, further delaying the start, stewards acceded to a request to allow the gelding to race without the cross-over nose band, which was advertised as part of its gear. Trainer M. Costa’s representative was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
SANGLIER – Raced three wide with cover.
 
MAGNOLIA POWER – A. Mallyon was reprimanded for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
DEEP STATE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BAY OF DRAGONS – Apprentice J. Murphy was reprimanded for using the whip 7 times prior to the 100m.
 
Race 2: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M
 
BRING IT HOME POP – Commenced to overrace passing the 1000m and approaching the 800m, when being crossed  by PRINCE OF TIE, had to be restrained from the heels of that runner. Apprentice J. Murphy, the rider of PRINCE OF TIE, was advised to provide greater clearance when shifting ground. When asked to explain the horse’s disappointing performance, jockey R. Maloney stated that the gelding pulled hard during the race and was inclined to hang in, which in his view had a bearing on the manner in which the horse finished the race off.
 
PRINCE OF TIE – Apprentice J. Murphy was fined $300 for using the whip 10 times prior to the 100m.
 
VENI VIDI VICI – Slow to begin. Apprentice M. Wishart was reprimanded for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
Race 3: ROKU GIN BM80 H'CAP – 2200M
 
GALTERO was a late scratching at 8:10 am after the track had been downgraded to HEAVY 8.
 
MAGSTOCK – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ADVANCE WARNING – When questioned regarding the run, apprentice B. Nothdurft stated that he was not overly disappointed with the run, however, when the field sprinted in the middle stages his mount was unable to quicken with the 59kg and ran home moderately. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Apprentice B. Nothdurft was reprimanded for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
ENDLESS DAYS – Became awkwardly placed at the heels of CHAMPAGNE VEGA passing the 1700m and had to be restrained. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn before shifting wider on the course to secure clear running passing the 300m.
 
STARDOME – Bumped approaching the 450m by OCEAN ADDICT, which was attempting to shift out to improve.
 
PICKA PLUM – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. The horse was unable to obtain cover and as a result raced in the lead.
 
DISSOLUTION – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BROCSON – Commenced to overrace approaching the 1700m, resented being restrained from the heels of CHAMPAGNE VEGA and raced ungenerously. Shifted three wide with cover to improve passing the 800m.
 
OCEAN ADDICT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Disappointed for a run to the outside of PICKA PLUM and to the inside of STARDOME approaching the 450m and was momentarily held up until approaching the 350m.
 
CHAMPAGNE VEGA – Threw its head up when being restrained from heels passing the 1800m. Shifted three wide with cover to improve passing the 700m.
 
DASHING SPECIAL – Commenced to race keenly passing the 1800m and had to be restrained from the heels of DISSOLUTION and raced ungenerously for a short distance thereafter. Shifted three wide to improve passing the 800m and passing the 700m was forced four wide by DISSOLUTION, which shifted out to improve.
 
SHACKLES – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 4: BRC MEMBERS BM90 H’CAP – 1615M
 
GRESHAM – Bumped by RECKLESS CHOICE making the turn into the straight. Apprentice N. Keal was reprimanded for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
RECKLESS CHOICE – Made contact with GRESHAM making the turn into the straight.
 
THE KINGDOM – Raced wide from the 600m. Checked near the 150m when MANGIONE was bumped outwards by PROMETHEUS, which shifted out when not fully clear. J. Byrne, the rider of PROMETHEUS, was severely reprimanded.
 
KUTTAMURRA AL – Slow to begin.
 
MANGIONE – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
 
PROMETHEUS – Slow into stride.
 
Race 5: MITAVITE THE PHOENIX – 1615M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight J. Bayliss, the rider of WAY BEYOND, viewed the stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection. After viewing the videos jockey Bayliss indicated that he did not wish to proceed.
 
The start of this race was delayed when SEE MARIE proved difficult to load.
 
WAY BEYOND – Hampered on jumping. Bumped approaching the 600m, crowded for room and buffeted for a short distance between TOSCANINI, which laid in away from HAZ DE BEE, and THE ACTUARY, which shifted out away from the heels of CONCILLIUM. Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of THE ACTUARY, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
SPICY RESTAURANT – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
OUTBURST – Improved to the inside of the heels of HAZ DE BEE approaching the 1300m, became awkwardly placed and had to be restrained and then commenced to race keenly. Laid in passing the 200m, bumping KEFALONIA, and then when being corrected shifted out and bumped with TOSCANINI on a number of occasions over the concluding stages. B. Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge of using the whip 8 times prior to the 100m and was fined $1500. In determining penalty stewards took into account jockey Stewart’s recent record regarding breaches of this rule.
 
CONCILLIUM – Bumped passing the 1300m when racing in restricted room to the inside of OUTBURST. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Shifted in abruptly passing the 300m, forcing COMIC GOSSIP in.
 
KEFALONIA – Bumped by OUTBURST passing the 200m.
 
TOSCANINI – Raced three wide with cover from the 1100m. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
COSMIC GOSSIP – Bumped heavily by SEE MARIE approaching the winning post.
 
SEE MARIE – Difficult to load. Slow to muster speed in the early stages. Laid out passing the 800m. Had to be steadied and alter course approaching the 250m after being awkwardly placed on the heels of COSMIC GOSSIP, which was taken in by CONCILLIUM. Shied outwards approaching the winning post, made contact with the hind quarters of COSMIC GOSSIP and became unbalanced. T. Marshall was reprimanded for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
THE ACTUARY – Held up rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
HAZ DE BEE – Bumped on the hind quarters passing the 1300m by OUTBURST, which commenced to race keenly, and was forced wider on the course and then raced three wide without cover from that point on.
 
Race 6: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BM75 H'CAP – 1350M
 
BEAT THE BEAST – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SHIJIN – Began awkwardly.
 
STYLISH SAGA – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding. Laid in passing the 1100m and brushed the running rail of its own accord.
 
Race 7: ASCOT GREEN QTIS 3YO FILLIES H'CAP – 1200M
 
Stewards permitted the late scratching of STARLA (10:28 am) and CENTREFIRE (9:03 am) after the track had been downgraded to HEAVY 8.
 
LEPREEZY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the filly had a stringhalt-like action in both hind legs.
 
ROASTED – Bumped heavily by EURO BELLE a short distance after the start. Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
EURO BELLE – Crowded for room near the 500m and lost ground. J. Byrne, the rider of ROASTED, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 500m he permitted his mount to shift in, causing tightening to EURO BELLE and NEXT CHAPTER. Jockey Byrne’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 7 days, to commence at midnight Saturday 20 June and expire at midnight Saturday 27 June 2020. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of jockey Byrne’s prior good record.
 
PARANGAS – Slow to begin.
 
NEXT CHAPTER – Jumped awkwardly, knuckled soon after the start and lost ground. Had to be checked near the 500m when EURO BELLE was taken in by ROASTED.
 
Race 8: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB QTIS C&G H'CAP – 1200M
 
GARIBALDI was a late scratching at 12:43 pm after the track had been downgraded to HEAVY 8.
 
NAVAL STRIKE – Slow to begin.
 
ICED – Raced three wide with cover.
 
SCOUT – Raced three wide with cover. Apprentice J. Huxtable was fined $500 for using the whip 6 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards took into account apprentice Huxtable’s recent record regarding breaches of this rule.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Overraced in the early stages. Raced three wide without cover. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
STUTTERING – Raced three wide without cover.
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Rider L. Cassidy had some difficulty restraining his mount in the early stages and approaching the 600m the gelding shifted in, resulting in NITROGLYCERINE becoming momentarily awkward at its heels.
 
GENUINE AL – Raced four wide without cover. S. Lacy was fined $300 for using the whip 9 times prior to the 100m.
 
Race 9: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY OPEN H'CAP – 1110M
 
JUST ORM was a late scratching at 12:12 pm after the track had been downgraded to HEAVY 8.
 
FIERY HEIGHTS – Raced three wide without cover.
 
PENNINO – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight and went to the line not fully tested by its rider.
 
TISANI TOMSO – Trainer K. Kemp advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden further back in the field. After being slow to begin the horse was ridden accordingly.
 
OZARK – Had to be steadied briefly from the heels of JADENTOM and then shifted out, resulting in SHARPE HUSSLER being taken wider.
 
JADENTOM – Raced three wide with cover. Put in an awkward stride near the 700m and became unbalanced.
