SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Subsequent to TOO HARD TO MISS performing poorly in Race 5 at Ipswich 19/8/20 Stable representative Mel Sharpe reported that on returning to the stables post-race, blood was evident in one nostril of the mare. Miss
Sharpe was advised TOO HARD TO MISS would be required to gallop over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to resuming.
 
 
 
GENERAL
 
As T Marshall was injured, riding changes were made as per the Race-day summary sheet.
 
 
Race 1 - 11:33AM QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1600 METRES)
 
BANGERS AND MAYO – Contacted on jumping away.
BELLISSIMI AMICI -  Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BANGERS AND MAYO. Shifted in shortly after the start inconveniencing CALM SEEKER. Rider R Fradd was advised to exercise greater care. Rider R Fradd reported after establishing clear running near the 300 metres the filly failed to let down and was disappointing. Trainer R Heathcote advised BELLISSIMI AMICI would now be spelled.
 
CALM SEEKER – Fractious in gates, slow to begin. Shortly after the start inconvenienced when BELLISSIMI AMICI shifted in. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
TRUST IN ALOHA – Over-raced middle stages.
 
Race 2 - 12:08PM BENCHMARK 90 Handicap (2000 METRES)
 
MAWAANY MACHINE – Raced 3 wide from the 1000 metres. App J Huxtable explained he was concerned that MUSHAIREB had obtained an easy run in front and therefore attempted to improve from the 1000 metres however MANGIONE improved to his inside and as a result was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event. Inclined to lay in rounding the home-turn and in the home straight.
 
MUSHAIREB – Shifted in near 1600 metres. R Wiggins, rider of MUSHAIREB, was advised to exercise greater care.
 
BARGANNON – Near 1600 metres steadied away from the heels of MUSHAIREB which shifted in.
 
HUMBOLT CURRENT – Slow to begin.
 
MANGIONE – Change of tactics, more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. When questioned regarding decision near the 900 metres to ride forward and hold MAWAANY MACHINE 3 wide, rider M Cahill stated he was reluctant to allow that runner to improve and obtain the position forward of him as he was of the opinion MAWAANY MACHINE would not take him into the race and would he would therefore be forced to race 3 wide from that point. Stewards noted the explanation of M Cahill.
 
 
Race 3 - 12:43PM Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Plate (1200 METRES)
 
ASTRO BOY TOY – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. A Mallyon, rider of ASTRO BOY TOY, was reminded of his use of the whip when racing in close proximity to fellow riders.
 
CHICO MILAGRO – Inclined to lay in near the 800 metres. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
MONTEZ – Fractious in gates. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
WAIT A MINUTE – Slow to begin and then failed to muster speed in early stages.
 
RISING STAR – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
 
Race 4 - 1:18PM Class 6 Plate (1350 METRES)
 
RECKLESS CHOICE – Slow to begin. Steady from heels approaching 500 metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in early stages of home straight. Shifted in abruptly approaching the 100 metres.
 
SNOWZONE – Over raced in the early stages. Laid in over the final 100 metres.
 
OCCUPY – Bumped heavily at the start. When asked to comment on the performance rider A Mallyon stated OCCUPY over raced in the middle stages and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the 500 metres.  Trainer’s representative Mr M Eggleston advised that the blinkers would be removed and that the stable would continue with its current preparation. A post-race Veterinary examination of OCCUPY revealed lacerations to the off hind leg and near hind leg.
 
PLUMARO – Jumped in at the start.
 
VOILA – when asked to comment on the performance rider L Dittman stated the mare resented racing to the inside of other runners and was of the opinion VOILA is better suited coming to the outside when making its run. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities. Lost off hind plate in running.
 
NAPOLEON SOLO – Jumped out at the start and bumped heavily with OCCUPY. After passing the 1200 metres was eased when crowded by OCCUPY which was carried in by VOILA. Laid in and brushed the running rail near the 1000 metres.
 
Race 5 - 1:57PM BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (1600 METRES)
 
The start of this event was delayed to allow an object to removed from the track near the 1400 metres.
 
AQUA VITE – on arrival at the barriers underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination at the request of its rider. Subsequently cleared to start. Rider J Huxtable reported the gelding felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. App Huxtable was reprimanded for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
ALPINE DANCER – Slow to begin. Laid in near the 1500 metres. Over raced in the middle stages. Bumped with FAIRY ME HOME near the 300 metres.
 
REIBY THE RED – Bumped at the start. Rider M Murphy was reprimanded for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
BERING SEA – As R Maloney was to be over weight he was replaced by J Bayliss. R Maloney was fined $300. Rider J Bayliss was reprimanded for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
FAIRY ME HOME – Jumped out at the start and bumped REIBY THE RED. Bumped with ALPINE DANCER near the 300 metres.
 
Race 6 - 2:37PM Fillies and Mares Class 3 Plate (1200 METRES)
 
CABALO ESCURO – Change of tactics, back from wide gate if circumstances permit. Settled back in the field after beginning awkwardly.
 
LADY APPLETON – Raced 3 wide without cover for majority. Overraced in middle stages.
 
STARLA – Fractious in barriers prior to the start. Slow to begin. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. After taking initial evidence from M Du Plessis Stewards adjourned an inquiry into his riding in the early stages of the home straight.
 
AMICHE – Blundered on jumping.
 
INGEAR – Bled both nostrils first time following the event. Trainer T Gollan was advised of the provisions under AR79(4).
 
LADY BRAHMOS – Over raced in early stages.
 
ME MUM’S FOXY – Raced 3 wide with cover for majority.
 
ZANAZOU – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 7 - 3:17PM BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (1050 METRES)
 
Start of this event was delayed when MOONSHINE LADY proved difficult to load.
 
INVINCIBLE GANGSTA – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
PAPA JO – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
STELLAR POWER – Raced three wide without cover throughout. App A Patis was reprimanded for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted.
 
HI FIVER – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Disappointed for a run near the 200 metres to the inside of MOONSHINE LADY which shifted in abruptly at that point.
 
LUCKY FIX – Held up for clear running until near the 150 metres.
 
SAY HAYA – Over raced outside the leader in the early stages.
 
MOONSHINE LADY – Difficult to load. Co-trainer P Hulbert was advised the mare would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Began awkwardly. Rider reported the saddle shifted back shortly after the start placing him at some disadvantage.
 
Race 8 - 3:57PM OPEN Handicap (1110 METRES)
 
JUST ORM – Bumped with EPIC GIRL near the 300 metres.
 
TYCOON ACE – Over raced during middle stages.
 
MR MARBELLOUZ – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
EPIC GIRL – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Bumped with JUST ORM near the 300 metres.
 
SPIRIT’S CHOICE – Slow to begin. Laid in rounding the home-turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
WUDANG BLADE – Began awkwardly.
 
I DREAM OF GREEN – Held up for clear running between the 400 metres and 200 metres.
 
 
Race 9 - 4:33PM RATINGS BAND 0 - 75 Handicap (1350 METRES)
 
CANAPES – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
DANAWI – Began awkwardly and became unbalanced.
 
TOAN THANG – Slow to begin and then unable to muster speed in the early and middle stages despite the efforts of its rider.
 
GOLLY HUTT – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
CHALK – In the early stages of the home straight raced in restricted room between GOLLY HUTT and RUN FOR GLORY. Near the 200 metres disappointed for a run between CANAPES and LUNAR LIGHT.
 
GETYOURGREYON – Bumped on jumping. Raced 3 wide with cover in early stages before shifting wider near the 800 metres when restrained from the heels of LUNAR LIGHT.
 
FLYING MACHINE – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
LUNAR LIGHT – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
YU LONG SHENG HUI – Near the 200 metres tightened for room when weakening between runners.
