Race 1: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW Maiden Handicap1650 metres ISABELLA'S SPRING – Bumped on jumping away. ANGELIC ARCHER – Began awkwardly. Approaching the home turn commenced to tire and was eased out of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer T Thomas was advised ANGELIC ARCHER would be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months must gallop 1000 metres in presence of a Steward before racing again AR79(4). CHLOE JADE – Slow to begin. DREAM CANDY – Trainer M Boland was fined $200 pursuant to LR67 for failing to declare a rider on the filly by the prescribed time. Jumped in at the start bumping with ISABELLA’s SPRINGS. Raced three wide in the early stages of the event. MARTO – Pulled hard early and middle stages. Race 2: DOOMBEN 10,000 DAY 15 MAY QTIS Two-Year-Old MaidenHandicap 1200 metres No racing incidents. Race 3: DOOMBEN CUP DAY 22 MAY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1350 metres FORTIFIED (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 1:18pm due to the track downgrade. HOWDY ANGEL – Rider M Rodd reported the filly travelled well until placed under pressure approaching the home turn, however failed to respond to his riding from that point and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. ZOU ZOU KACANARKIS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Race 4: HAPPY EASTER FROM THE BRC Class 2 Handicap 1050 metres The start of this event was delayed when PIANIST proved difficult to load. ALL TO DO – Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped GANESH TALAI. GANESH TALAI (SAF) – Bumped on jumping. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 800 metres. CLAIRVUE STAR – Slow to begin. ISSAQUAH – Declared a late scratching at 12:15pm when the gelding sustained an injury when being transported to the course. THE DIAMOND – Near the 800 metres was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. PIANIST – As M Cahill was to be overweight, Stewards permitted M Du Plessis to ride the filly. M Cahill was reprimanded pursuant to LR68(1). In assessing penalty Stewards acknowledged his good record under this rule. Difficult to load. Rider M Du Plessis reported the filly failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. STILL REIGNING – Raced three wide during early and middle stages. Rider S Thornton reported the filly failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: TAB VENUE MODE Class 1 Plate 1650 metres The start of this event was delayed when CHEVYCHASER proved difficult to load. CHEVYCHASER – Difficult to load. Trainer B Smith was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. NORTHERN WOODS (NZ) – Rider J Huxtable reported the gelding felt flat during the run and failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. BOLD INSPIRATION – Slow to begin. Rider R Wiggins reported the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. GULLFOSS – Declared a late scratching at 12:45pm due to the track downgrade. WHO SAID SO (NZ) – Blundered on jumping. Race 6: CANADIAN CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres CAPE WICKHAM – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event. HONORABLE SPIRIT – Slow to begin. KEEP ON LOVING YOU – Due to the prevailing track conditions Stewards acceded to a request from trainer P Nolan to remove the bar plates and for the gelding to race in normal race plates. ORBISYN – Declared a late scratching at 12:46pm due to the track downgrade. The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes when CONQUER MEE required farriery attention to three racing plates. CONQUER MEE was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3: 37pm when the gelding became fractious and was unable to be re-plated in a timely manner. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on CONQUER MEE be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st KEEP ON LOVING YOU - 0c win, 5c place2nd ROCK AMORE – 2c place3rd FRUSTRATED – n/a Race 7: SKY RACING Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres IAMICAN – When asked to comment on the performance rider M Wishart reported the mare did not handle todays prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. DARING BELLE – Caught three wide early stages before being restrained to the rear near the 800 metres. HENLEY MISS – Co-trainers M & T Sears were fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for failing to declare a rider on the mare by the prescribed time. EVELEIGH – Declared a late scratching at 12:10pm due to the track downgrade. JOYFUL MISS – Declared a late scratching at 12:10pm due to the track downgrade. Race 8: XXX DRY BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1350 metres Trainer D Forster was fined $200 pursuant to LR68(1) failing to scratch RACING PARADISE by the prescribed time. XANTHUS – Declared a late scratching at 12:10pm due to the track downgrade. DIO D'ORO – Slow to begin. Rider M Cahill reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. TESARC – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event. Rider N Fazackerley reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. AMICITIA – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance rider R Maloney stated the mare travelled fairly in the run however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn failed to respond to his riding, adding that AMICITA failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. MOREE DREAMING – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider B Thompson reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
