SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Aquis Gold Coast May 12th 2021, Race 8 Benchmark 78 Hdcp:

Stewards today concluded an adjourned inquiry into a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) that was issued against apprentice M Wishart, rider of SHIJIN, to allow her master Mr K Kemp to be present. After hearing further submissions from Mr Kemp, taking into account the prevailing track conditions, and in particular considering the racing manners of TAVIS TOWN throughout the race, Stewards did not proceed with the charge under AR131(a).


Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Class 6 Handicap 1110metres

LE PALMIER – Raced keenly in the middle stages.

BEAU IDEAL (GB) – Raced keenly in the middle stages.

HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS – Began awkwardly.

TABATHA MISS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

PERFECT AIM – Raced three wide with cover throughout.


Race 2: TRHA MEMBERS' HANDICAP 1600 metres

CUBA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery and fluid in the airway. Trainer J Thompson’s representative was advised CUBA would require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination.

FABRIC (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 200 metres when RIGHT OR WRONG shifted in.

LUVOIR – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly throughout.


Race 3: ANZ BLOODSTOCK NEWS 3YO Plate 1350 metres

HOLYFIELD – As J Parr was unable to arrive on course due to a delayed interstate flight, Stewards permitted J McDonald to ride the colt.

LOVE TAP – Began awkwardly and jumped out. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bumped on a number of occasions in the home straight when BATANGAS ENTRY attempted to shift out to improve.

MAGIC CONQUEROR – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide throughout.

NOT AN OPTION – Slow to begin.

BATANGAS ENTRY – Shortly after passing the 200 metres shifted out to improve and made contact with LOVE TAP on a number of occasions. Thereafter was unable to secure clear running for the remainder of the race.

PALLADAS – Laid in under pressure over final 100 metres.

BACK WHEN – Over raced during the middle stages.

STAROSA – Jumped in at the start.

BE WATER MY FRIEND – Bumped at the start.


Race 4: JRA CHAIRMAN'S TROPHY 2000 metres

HANG MAN (IRE) – Slow to begin. Approaching the 400 metres made contact with WALKING FLYING when attempting to obtain clear running. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

PLATINUM INVADOR (NZ) – On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination after contacting the enclosure gate when moving onto the track and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.

THE CANDY MAN – Began awkwardly.

ATTENTION RUN (GER) – Began awkwardly.


Race 5: SPIRIT OF BOOM CLASSIC 1200 metres

TIGER OF MALAY – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced three wide for majority of the event.

THE STIFMEISTER – Shortly after the start bumped with TIGER OF MALAY.

GIANNIS – After being loaded into the barriers became fractious, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Jockey K McEvoy advised GIANNIS would appreciate races over a longer distance than that of today. A post-race veterinary examination of GIANNIS revealed the colt to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer C Waller’s representative was advised GIANNIS must obtain a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

FRONTMAN – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.

MAOTAI – Declared a late scratching at 2:06pm when unable to be loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on MAOTAI be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply on successful wagers:

!st PRINCE OF BOOM – 15 cents win, 12 cents place
2nd INVISIBLE TEARS – 16 cents place
3rd BERDINI’S GIRL – 16 cents place

Trainer K Fogden was advised MAOTAI must trial prior to its next race start.

KING KAPA – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

MISS HIPSTAR – Raced three wide from the 700 metres.

SEE YOU IN SPRING – Began awkwardly.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.

Race 6: CANADIAN CLUB ROUGH HABIT PLATE 2000 metres

KHOEKHOE – Began awkwardly. J Huxtable, rider of KHOEKHOE, was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted (7th offence).

TOSCANINI – Bumped near 350 metres.

KUKERACHA (NZ) – Near the 350 metres shifted out and bumped TOSCANINI.

HIGH SUPREMACY (NZ) – Approaching the 700 metres got its head up when being restrained from the heels of KUKERACHA.

SENOR TOBA – Slow to begin. J McDonald, rider of SENOR TOBA, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted (4th offence).

YANGTZE RAPIDS – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages.


Race 7: TAB DOOMBEN 10,000 1200 metres

EDUARDO – N Rawiller, rider of EDUARDO, was fined $1000 under AR132(5) for excessive use of the whip on 16 occasions throughout the event (2nd offence).

KINGS WILL DREAM (IRE) – Bumped at the start.

WILD PLANET – Became unbalanced on jumping when bumped by SPLINTEX which jumped out.

SPLINTEX – Jumped out at the start.

VEGA ONE – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

WILD RULER – Rider J McDonald reported the gelding is better suited to firmer tracks than that of today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from the thumps, to have coughed once and to have sustained a minor laceration to the off hind coronet band.


Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS BRIGHT SHADOW 1200 metres

FIESTA – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.

SPRING HEAT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.

ATHIRI – After being loaded into the barriers underwent a veterinary examination after kicking out in the barriers and was cleared to start.

OUTBACK BARBIE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.

LOVE YOU LUCY – Slow to begin after beginning very awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed pain in the near fore fetlock, to be short striding in front and to have sustained abrasions to the off hind cannon.

SOCIALISING – Slow to begin.

ASHARANI – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Near the 900 metres obliged to steady from the heels of FIESTA which shifted in.

MISS IANO – Stewards permitted J Bayliss to ride the gelding half a kilogram over its allocated weight. D Moor was fined $200 under AR127 for failing to fulfill an engagement

MAOZI – Slow to begin. Hung out leaving the 800 metres and had to steadied from the heels of OUTBACK BARBIE.

MISTEED – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.

EXPRESS FANTASY (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.


Race 9: MITTYS BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1350 metres

CRISTAL BREEZE (IRE) – Raced four wide with cover for majority of the event.

STARVIRGO – Held up rounding the home turn.

LOVE STRUCK – As J Huxtable was stood down by the Club doctor, Stewards permitted J Byrne to ride the gelding when no other apprentice was available. Raced five wide without cover for the majority of the event. Laid in when tiring near the 300 metres and had to be steadied off the heels of SEGELAS.

SEGALAS – Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the event.

ACCESSION – Slow to begin.

SEA RAIDER – Passing the 900 metres commenced to over-race and shifted out. Raced three wide with cover throughout. Held up rounding the home turn.
