Race 1: MITTYS BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 2000 metres
SAVVY OAK (NZ) – Near the 1600m when racing keenly shifted out and bumped PRINCE OF ARRAGON. Continued to over race in the middle stages.
PRINCE OF ARRAGON –Raced keenly early. Bumped near the 1600m.
OLYMPIC CLASS – Held up in the early part of the home straight.
Race 2: CAPTAIN MORGAN TROPICAL Class 6 Plate 1600 metres
CAPTIVATOR – Trainer G Booth was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67 for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time. Began awkwardly and shifted in.
CLOAK – Raced three wide until reaching the position outside the leader near the 1000m. Laid in near the 100m. Apprentice K Cowan was reminded of her obligations to fully test her mounts through the line.
MURLESS (NZ) – Raced keenly early. Obliged to steady when crossed by Cloak near the 1000m. Apprentice K Cowan was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) regarding this incident.
RIGHT OR WRONG – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Obliged to steady when crossed by CLOAK near the 100m. Apprentice K Cowan was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. When questioned regarding tactics adopted, Jockey N Rawiller advised that it was not his intention to lead however when caught wide he elected to ride forward and reach the lead near the 1300m.
GUNTANTES – Held up momentarily near the 500m. A post- race veterinary examination determined that the gelding had a slow recovery.
KEDAH (NZ) – Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
MILK MAN (USA) – Restrained from a wide barrier and settled in a rearward position.
MOCAMBO – Slow to begin.
THE DARK (NZ) – Raced three wide throughout.
GOLDIFOX – Tightened on jumping.
Race 3: CITY PROPERTY SERVICES CARTER STAKES 1200 metres
STELLAR MAGIC – Held up approaching the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
SOCIALIST – Slow to begin. Near the 800m when pulling hard steadied outwards and away from the heels of PEARLS 'N' PIMMS. Near the 500m steadied when racing tightly between MORIOKA and PEARLS 'N' PIMMS.
HOOVER LUCY – Raced three wide throughout. Prior to correct weight being declared Jockey H Bowman viewed the footage over the final 150m but elected not to proceed with an objection.
DOVETAIL DIVA – Led and tired in the home straight. A race veterinary examination determined that the filly was coughing and exhibiting a respiratory noise. Co Trainers J Symons and S Laxon were advised that a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination would be required along with the filly performing satisfactorily in an official trial prior to it returning to the races.
MORIOKA – Began awkwardly.
ME ME LAGARDE – Slow to begin. Near the 600m restrained when racing in restricted room to the inside of STELLAR MAGIC. Had trouble securing clear running between the 450m and 250m.
PEARLS 'N' PIMMS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 700m shifted out then bumped and carried SOCIALIST wider.
LAIDE – Over raced early.
Race 4: MARKETING SOLUTIONS DARBY McCARTHY 1110 metres
WISDOM OF WATER – Near the 100m raced in restricted room between GOLDSBOROUGH and STREAKA which rolled out slightly.
OUR PLAYBOY – Near the 700m raced keenly and steadied when LORD OLYMPUS rolled inward.
IMMORTAL LOVE – Bumped on jumping.
LORD OLYMPUS – Over the concluding stages steadied when awkwardly positioned at the heels of WISDOM OF WATER when OUR PLAYBOY shifted out abruptly and away from TRAMONTO.
TRAMONTO – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide throughout.
XERRI – Raced three wide with cover.
SAFEWORK – Raced three wide with cover.
GAROPPOLO (NZ) – Near the 450m put in an awkward stride.
KISUKANO – Kicked by another runner behind the gates and cleared to start.
SHAMATON – Held up in the early part of the straight before shifting wider to secure clear running.
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS PAM O'NEILL STAKES 1600 metres
YAMAZAKI – Slow to begin. Raced keenly early before its rider elected to improve three wide passing the 1000m and obtain the lead passing the 800m.
AKAGE – Slow to begin.
GEM OF SCOTLAND – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Pulled hard early.
Race 6: XXXX CHIEF DE BEERS 1110 metres
THE ODYSSEY – Cast its near fore plate in running.
CALIFORNIA ZIMBOL – Slow to begin. Performed below expectations and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which determined the mare was short striding in front. Co trainer Paul Snowden was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to returning.
KING OF HASTINGS – Raced four wide with cover.
SPURCRAFT – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running passing the 150m.
ZANIAH – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
MISHANI HUSTLER – Raced three wide throughout.
NIEDORP – Cast its near hind plate.
VARDA – Slow to begin.
THE ASTROLOGIST - Raced three wide with cover throughout. Raced in restricted room between the 800m and 600m.
Race 7: CHANNEL 7 DOOMBEN CUP 2000 metres
SIR DRAGONET (IRE) – Performed below expectations and underwent veterinary examination and was exhibiting a post-race cough.
MUGATOO (IRE) – Performed below expectations and underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to be lame in its off fore Trainer K Lees was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to resuming.
SHARED AMBITION (IRE) – Bumped on jumping.
NETTOYER – Bumped on jumping.
AVILIUS – Trainer J Cummings reported post-race that after arriving back at his stables that the gelding had blood evident in both nostrils. Mr Cummings was advised that it would be stood down from racing for three months and would also be required to gallop over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to resuming.
Race 8: TAB BRC SPRINT 1350 metres
SPECIAL REWARD – Raced three wide throughout.
RANIER – Slow to begin.
SIRCCONI – Near the 150m when tiring was eased between OLMEDO and RED CHASE which shifted ground when awkwardly placed at the heels of SPECIAL REWARD. Jockey J McDonald reported it felt awkward in its action and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which determined that it was sore in both front fetlocks. SIRCCONI was also coughing and will also require a veterinary examination including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to resuming.
GROUNDSWELL – Performed below expectations and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed it to be displaying mild THUMPS.
MASTER JAMIE- Began awkwardly before restraining from its wire barrier.
STAMPE – Raced four wide.
FENDER – Raced three wide with cover. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
GARIBALDI – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
AXE – Over raced early. Raced three wide with cover.
SKINS – Pre- race vet examination and was cleared to start. Restrained from its wide barrier and settled at the rear. Disappointed for a run near the 350m when RAINIER laid outwards under pressure and RED CHASE which rolled in slightly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m. Performed below expectations and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed mild heat stress.
CROCKETT – Very slow to begin.
Race 9: ANZ BLOODSTOCK NEWS THE ROSES 2000 metres
TYCOON EVIE – Cast the off hind plate in running.
GRACE AND HARMONY (NZ) – Tightened on jumping.
EASIFAR (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced three wide until obtaining a position nearer the rail near the 1400m.
SEE MARIE – Buffeted on jumping and lost ground.
GOOD SOIZE – Tightened for racing room near the 1800m.
ONLY WORDS (NZ) – Raced three wide before obtaining a position nearer the rail near the 1400m.
SPLENDIFEROUS – Raced three wide until obtaining a position nearer the rail near the 1250m.
SIGNORA NERA (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
GUNMETAL GIRL (NZ) – Jockey R Bayliss was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven occasions, two more than permitted.
ATONEMENT - Performed below expectations and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which identified a slow post-race recovery.
YATTON (NZ) – Stewards approved a late riding change from Jye McNeil to Ben Thompson.
DESIGNS – Approaching the home turn was steadied from the heels of SIGNORA NERA.
