SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Gold Coast Race 4 - 15/5/21 – Trainer L Ross reported that on further veterinary examination MISHANI BANDIT had bone chips in its near fore knee which were removed and is now spelling.
 
 
GENERAL
 
As M Cahill was to be overweight in Race 1 and Race 7, riding changes were made as per the race day summary sheet. M Cahill was fined $200 under AR190(3).
 
Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
 
BIEN CUIT – Rider R Maloney was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the line.
 
 INJUSTICE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MOONSHINER – Began awkwardly resulting in rider J Huxtable becoming unbalanced for a short distance. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
AGENT NINETY NINE – Jumped in at the start and bumped FLECKERL. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
FLECKERL – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
HERTZKA – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
RELENTLESS MISS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer representative for G Heinrich stated at its most recent start at Beaudesert the gelding settled further back in the field than anticipated and was then held up for clear running in the home straight, adding that a forward showing was expected from the stable today. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
Race 2: MULLINS LAWYERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1350 metres
 
BETTER NOT BLINK – A short distance after the start was severely hampered by VITESSE FRANCAIS which shifted in. Near the 1200 metres when over-racing shifted out and bumped SYTHAERO.  
 
HAPPISBURGH – When questioned regarding tactics adopted rider S Cormack stated after being held up on the heels of BETTER NOT BLINK rounding the home turn, he elected to improve along the fence and found the line well. He added HAPPISBURGH would take a fitness benefit from today’s event and would be better suited to races over a longer distance than that of today. Stewards noted the explanation of S Cormack.
 
KERMAKAYA – Slow to begin. Severely checked near the 350 metres.
 
SPOTTED WONDER - Severely checked near the 350 metres.
 
SYTHAERO – Near the 350 metres clipped the heels of VITESSE FRANCAIS and fell dislodging rider J Huxtable. In this incident SPIRIT’S CHARM, SPOTTED WONDER and KERMAKAYA were all severely checked. A post-race veterinary examination revealed significant shoulder injuries and the gelding was euthanized on humane grounds. An inquiry into this incident was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.
 
VITESSE FRANCAIS – Trainer K Schweida reported on return to the stables the gelding had suffered lacerations to the off hind leg.
 
SPIRIT'S CHARM – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Severely checked near the 350 metres.
 
ENTERPRISE BELLA – Steadied from heels approaching the 1200 metres.
 
Race 3: ALCYONE HOTEL & RESIDENCES QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
BEACON PLACE – Hung out severely throughout the event and made the home turn very wide on the track and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer T Timbery was advised BEACON PLACE must trial prior to its next race start.
 
CONSTANT CAUSE – Stewards permitted N Thomas to ride the gelding when trainer J Zielke was dissatisfied with the gear rider S Thornton weighed out with.  
 
THE SHERPA – Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding rider R Maloney stated with the addition of blinkers for the first time THE SHERPA over-raced and resented being restrained in the early stages which in his view resulted in the gelding weakening in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DUBAI CLASSIC – Bumped at the start.
 
JUMBO GOAL – Jumped in at the start and bumped DUBAI CLASSIC.
 
COMMIT TO SUCCESS – Hung out rounding the 800 metre turn.
 
 
Race 4: NATIONAL JOCKEY TRUST APPRENTICE RACE SERIES Class 1 Plate 1350 metres
 
KRAMERIC – Slow to begin. Near the 250 metres rider W Peel dropped her whip.
 
PERFECT QUALITY – Tightened for room and had to steadied when MENINDEE shifted in when not fully clear. K Wilson-Taylor, rider of MENINDEE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessness in this incident.
 
BEAUTY CANTO (NZ) – Near the 600 metres raced in restricted room to the inside of LE HEROS for a short distance.
 
LE HEROS – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer P Duncan was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings starting manners.
 
NEUTRON – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
PETUNIA – As J Huxtable was injured, Stewards permitted A Patis to ride the filly. Raced three wide with cover throughout. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
A BIG CHANCE - Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
MANDEVILLE ROCKER (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 5: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 2020 metres
 
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes to allow the off fore plate of TOP ORDER to be refitted.
 
BROCSON – Left a rearward trailing position near the 1300 metres and progressed forward to race outside the leader approaching the 1000 metres.

TOP ORDER – On arrival at the barriers the off fore plate was refitted. Subsequently examined by veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Held up for clear running from the entrance of the home straight until appoint near the 250 metres.
 
 
Race 6: RANVET NATIONAL APPRENTICE RACE SERIES Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
SCATHING - As J Huxtable was injured, Stewards permitted W Peel to ride the filly. Jumped out at the start and bumped MR CASHMAN. When asked to comment rider W Peel explained the gelding never travelled throughout the event and weakened in the home straight when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed SCATHING to have atrial fibrillation. Trainer C Munce was advised SCATHING must obtain a veterinary clearance, including the results of a satisfactory ECG test, and must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
MOTOMISS – Slow to begin. Rider K Wilson-Taylor was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the line.
 
MR CASHMAN – Bumped at the start.
 
FLEET DOVE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 7: SPIRIT OF BOOM Class 4 Handicap 1615 metres
 
PROSPECTUS – Disappointed for a run leaving the 300 metres between ROASTED and WOWSERS before obtaining clear running near the 200 metres.
 
GRAND ZOU – When asked to comment rider R Fradd was disappointed with its overall performance and was of the opinion GRAND ZOU has not come to hand this preparation. Co-trainer Trent Edmonds gave an undertaking to report any condition which may come to light in the coming days to explain the performance and additionally would speak with connections with regards to continuing the horse’s current preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ROASTED – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
MINOR LUCK – From the wide barrier restrained to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
 
Race 8: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1350 metres
 
DASHING SPECIAL – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Carried wider from the 700 metres.
 
HARD LABOUR – Shifted three wide from the 700 metres and carried DASHING SPECIAL wider on the track.
