OUR RED PLANET – Slow to begin. MAJESTICS REQUEST – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout the event. REBEL TINGE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 400 metres put in an awkward stride, became unbalanced and lost ground. Rider J Bayliss reported the filly raced very greenly throughout the event. STAR CHANCE – Stewards permitted apprentice M Wishart ride the colt claiming only 2kgs of her 3kg allowance as no other apprentice was available. M Wishart was fined $300 pursuant to AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance. Bumped and carried wider rounding the home turn when OUR RED PLANET shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. OBER PURKLA – Jumped out at the start. Raced three wide with cover throughout. WINTER VIOLET – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 200 metres. Race 2: MULLINS LAWYERS Maiden Handicap 1660 metres STYLE SEEKER (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. STOCKED AND LOADED (NZ) – Passing the 600 meters tightened for racing room and contacted the running rail when STYLE SEEKER laid in momentarily. CHIANTARI – Change of tactics – to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Reared at the start and lost ground. GEOSTORM – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. KAL EL (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover throughout. KAWUNEECHE (NZ) – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider J Byrne reported he lost use of his offside stirrup iron on jumping placing him at a disadvantage in the early stages before being able to regain use a short distance later. TAAFFEITE (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. ATOMIC BOMB – Over-raced in the early stages. Race 3: ALCYONE HOTEL & RESIDENCES QTIS Three-Year-OldMaiden Plate 1660 metres REMARKABLES – Over-raced in the early stages. RIVERSIDE THEATRE – Shortly after the start buffeted between runners and lost ground. ROC DE CAVI (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1300 metres when racing ungenerously shifted out bumping the hindquarters of THE LOVE ROCKET. SHE'S AN EAGLE – Rider reported the filly raced very keenly in the early and middle stages. WHODAT – B Nothdurft, rider of WHODAT, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. THE LOVE ROCKET – Bumped on the hindquarters near the 1300 metres. REIGN HAYLIN SHINE – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of trainer and found to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery. Race 4: SPIRIT OF BOOM Class 1 Handicap 1110 metres ENSENADA – Slow to begin. CHIEF MONDO – When over-racing near the 900 metres shifted in and bumped MENINDEE. ARRIVERDERCI ROMA – Raced three wide throughout without cover. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding tactics adopted rider K Cowan stated instructions were to attempt to lead however when runners improved to her inside approaching the 800 metres she was caught racing three wide without cover. Stewards, in assessing the ride of apprentice Cowan, advised in future she should show greater flexibility as the race unfolds, and not become too tied down to instructions and thus afford her mounts the best opportunity to finish their race off. CARTIAIR – Slow to begin. BONNIE EV – Rider reported the mare was inclined to lay out throughout the event. FINAL OVATION – Slow to begin. Lost off fore plate in running. MENINDEE – Near the 900 metres bumped by CHIEF MONDO which shifted in when over-racing. WORLD CHARMER – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed symptoms of heat stress. Race 5: SKY RACING Class 5 Handicap 1660 metres After being loaded into the barriers HUBBLE broke through, was quickly restrained, underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:55pm after blood was detected in it’s mouth and right nostril as a result of contacting the front barrier partition. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on HUBBLE to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st TEARS OF LOVE – 4c win, 6c place2nd WHISPERED – 7c place3rd GOLDIFOX – 3c place LE CASTILE (NZ) – Over-raced early and middle stages. Rider reported the mare raced flat today and was disappointing. PUNTURA (NZ) – Over-raced early and middle stages. TEARS OF LOVE – Shifted wider rounding the home turn. GOLDIFOX – Slow to begin. Rider reported the mare began slower than expected and travelled fairly in the run however when placed under pressure in the home straight was disappointing. A post-race swab sample was taken from GOLDIFOX. Race 6: XXXX DRY Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres LADY BRAHMOS – Raced wide without cover for majority of the event, and near the 600 metres taken wider on the track when SHANJOMI shifted out. SIESTA KEY – Near the 600 metres taken wider on the track when SHANJOMI shifted out. ZOUKINA – Slow to begin and then shortly after steadied from the heels of LADY BRAHMOS which was carried out slightly by SHANJOMI. Bumped near the 300 metres when DASH FOR DREAMS shifted out. TYCOON BELLA – When asked to comment on the performance, rider R Maloney stated instructions were to hold a forward position, however the mare was unable to muster the necessary speed and settled in a midfield position and when placed under pressure was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, and a post-race swab sample was taken. DASH FOR DREAMS – After being disappointed for a run near the 300 metres, a short distance later shifted out and bumped ZOUKINO. SHANJOMI – On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. When racing keenly near the 600 metres shifted out and away from the heels of FRONT MONEY. ZEFTABROOK – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off fore fetlock. Race 7: MOUNT FRANKLIN Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3Handicap 1200 metres RARI – Raced wide for majority of the event. DEGAS – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. Over-raced in the early stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. BRABHAM – Bumped shortly after the start. Lost its near fore plate in running. Rider J Byrne reported the horse settled further back than anticipated and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RABBIT CLAUSE - Raced wide for majority of the event. RICHETTI - Raced wide for majority of the event. Race 8: COUNTRY MUSIC & OPERA 27 JUNE BENCHMARK 72Handicap 1350 metres SUILVEN – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. BEACHBREAK – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. Over-raced in the early stages. Passing the 100 metres obliged to steady from the heels of SUILVEN which after improving to its inside and shifted out marginally. T Brooker, rider of SUILVEN, was asked to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. WIDESPREAD – Raced three wide for majority of the event. BUSHIDO – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for majority of the event. EAST ASIA (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200 metres. BOYLES – Momentarily steadied from the heels of DEPTHS BELOW near the 1100 metres. Raced keenly passing the 800 metres. ADELEASE – Obliged to alter course on a number of occasions in the home straight to secure clear running.
