OUR RED PLANET – Slow to begin. VALLEY RATTLER – Began awkwardly making contact with GOLDEN EIGHTY. GOLDEN EIGHTY – Bumped on jumping. RAYJEN – Had to have the saddle adjusted after arriving at the barriers. STIRLING DIVA – Buffeted between GOLDEN EIGHTY and VALLEY RATTLER which shifted out slightly. Race 2: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BM78 Handicap 2200 metres TAVION PRINCE - Lost the near fore plate in running. Jockey R Maloney was fined $500 for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. Stewards noted that this was jockey Maloney’s eleventh offence under this rule in the previous twelve months. THATFRIDAYFEELING - Blundered on jumping. WILD SHEILA – Raced keenly in the early stages when in a rearward position. Laid in under pressure between the 300m and 100m. LADY SOLERNO – Commenced to weaken after passing the 600m and was eased down in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed an asymmetrical gait behind. Trainer R Cameron was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness would need to be provided to Stewards prior to being permitted to trial or race again. TOP ORDER – Slow to begin. Laid in slightly over the final 200m. Race 3: MOUNT FRANKLIN No Metro Wins Handicap 1050 metres DESERT COWBOY – Bumped shortly after the start and again near the 900m. COLPO DI TAMBURO – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Lost the near fore plate in running.TRENGGANU –Shortly after the start made contact with DESERT COWBOY after being bumped in by NORSE MYTHOLOGY. GLOCK – Laid out under pressure over the final 250m. NORSE MYTHOLOGY – Shortly after the start hung in making contact with TRENGGANU. Near the 900m shifted in abruptly bumping DESERT COWBOY. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer M Boland was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness would need to be provided to Stewards prior to being permitted to trial or race again. Race 4: RACECOURSE VILLAGE OPEN Handicap 1600 metres CRUZE – Trainer B Lockwood was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the gelding by the prescribed time. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding which performed disappointingly failed to reveal any abnormalities. CINQUEDEA – Hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight. Race 5: SKY RACING Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres DEGAS – After considering a request from Trainer C Munce, and noting the previous racing manners of DEGAS, Stewards permitted apprentice J Huxtable to ride the gelding only claiming 1 kg of his 1.5 kg allowance. Apprentice J Huxtable was fined $200 for failing to claim his full allowance. Raced three wide without cover throughout. GOOD CHAT – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding which performed disappointingly failed to reveal any abnormalities. MCCOVEY COVE – Hampered on jumping. Lost the near fore plate in running. AVOWAL – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight before being shifted wider on the course to secure clear running passing the 200m. LUSKIN HERO – Held up rounding the home turn and unable to secure clear running until after passing the 200m. Race 6: MEKKA WEDNESDAY RACES 11 AUG BM72 Handicap 1600 metres BRYNEICH – Near the 300m was held up and had to be restrained from heels and was shifted wider on the course near the 200m to secure clear running. MOMENTUM TO WIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. ONE FOR BETTY – Held up in the early part of the home straight and near the 100m had to be eased when tightened between WHISPERED and MOMENTUM TO WIN which shifted out under pressure. PREDICTABLE MISS – Bumped on jumping. Held up from the 500m until passing the 200m, and near the 100m had to be eased off the heels of ONE FOR BETTY which shifted in after being tightened. QUOTANT – Laid out throughout. Jockey S Tomlinson reported that the mare felt awkward in its action during the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the inside heel on the near fore leg. MAHUSSEY – Held up in the early part of the home straight. ZAMZARA – Near the 1400m improved onto heels and had to be restrained. RUBY'S LAD – Bumped on jumping. Race 7: XXXX DRY Class 6 Plate 1200 metres Prior to correct weight a protest was lodged by jockey J Guthmann-Chester rider of second placed AXE against SNOWZONE ridden by jockey A Mallyon being declared the winner for alleged interference over the concluding stages. It was established that both horses bumped near the 100m as a result of an initial shift in slightly from AXE which turned SNOWZONE outwards resulting with horses making contact again. After considering the evidence, Stewards were of the opinion that the contact was initiated by AXE and therefore dismissed the objection. AXE – Near the 100m shifted in bumping SNOWZONE. SNOWZONE – Near the 100m was bumped by AXE which shifted in. STARVIRGO – Fractious in barriers prior to the start. Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. TAKE TEA – Slow to begin. Rounding the home turn had to be eased after improving onto the heels of STARVIRGO, and then hung in over the final 250m. MACCHINA VOLANTE – Raced three wide with cover throughout. UNGUARDED – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1350 metres FIT FOR PURPOSE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with BOOMTOWN RAT. Performed poorly and finished a distant last. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding which performed disappointingly failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L Birchley advised that it would now be his intention to retire the gelding from racing. PLITVICE – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. AT WITZ END – Raced three wide without cover throughout. BOLD WARRIOR – Raced three wide with cover throughout. ZIEMBA – Held up from the 450m until the 300m. READY TO HUMBLE – Began awkwardly, shifted in crowding PLITVICE. BOOMTOWN RAT – Bumped on jumping. Race 9: ASCOT GREEN QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1350 metres FLEET DOVE – Held up for a short distance near the 300m. Hung out under pressure over the concluding stages. REDOUTE’S IMAGE – M Eggleston trainer’s representative for K Lees advised that in light of today’s performance it may be the stable’s intention to send the filly for a short spell. ROLLINWITHTHEFLOW – Shifted out on jumping. STAROSA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. LADY BANFF – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover throughout. SAFEWORK – Bumped on jumping. KINGSTON'S HERE – Hung out over the final 100m. REAL EMPRESS – Crowded on jumping. Raced three wide with cover from the 700m.
