QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB – DOOMBEN – WEDNESDAY 11TH AUGUST 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – 5Metres PENETROMETER – 5.55 OFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – D AurischStewards – J Williamson, T Hudson, R HansonClerk of Scales – T NorthJudge – R Thomas, M Mawhinney, A ReddingVeterinarian – Dr L KellySwab Attendants – A Challen, J PedofskyStarter – S Lister, H Anderson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL Stewards permitted the following riders to ride 0.5kg overweight: Race 4: OFF ROAD – M Hellyer Race 4: SHNITTY – M Cahill Race 7: KIJOTO – M Hellyer Race 8: WILLY BE LUCKY – M Hellyer Trainer Rex Lipp was reprimanded for failing to withdraw dual acceptor DAMIANI by the prescribed time. (LR36(6)). Race 1: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 H’cap 1200 metres STARTANTES – Over-raced for a short distance passing the 900m. Near the 400m was restrained from the heels of BRENTWOOD. DARE TO SHARE – Began awkwardly. Over-raced for a short distance passing the 900m. Hung in for the majority of the event. Race 2:SKY RACING Maiden H’cap 1630 metres GASLIGHTER – Began awkwardly. PALACE HOUSE – T Marshall reported that the gelding hung in throughout the event. APPLICATIONS (NZ) – J Orman reported that his mount over-raced and proved disappointing. Post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer B Guy advised stewards that in light of todays performance the gelding would be sent for a spell. STOCKED AND LOADED – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure. GREEN PROTECTOR – Slow to begin. SEIZE HER – Began awkwardly. Rider reported that the mare hung out throughout. SHOSHA – Became fractious in the barriers and was examined by the veterinary surgeon before being cleared to start. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. HATS – Approaching and rounding the home turn, held up for clear running. M Wishart was questioned as to whether there had been an opportunity to settle further forward in the event, which would have resulted in HATS racing in advance of APPLICATIONS. M Wishart explained that she had considered settling in a forward position however was mindful that HATS normally races in a mid to rearward position and was concerned that if she rode forward this would have a detrimental effect on the horses performance. She added that the pace of the race had a detrimental effect on the finishing effort of HATS. CUE TO CONQUER – Wide during the early stages. GENTLE PRINCE – Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout. Race 3: RACECOURSE VILLAGE Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 H’cap 1200 metres HE KNOWS – Tightened for room near the 900m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. DRY TIMES – Began awkwardly. QUACKERY – Slow to begin and tightened for room shortly after the start. J Orman could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. TRIPTONIC – Slow to begin. COME IN SPINNER – Raced wide throughout. OUTBACK GLADIATOR – Slow to begin. Tightened for room and lost ground shortly after the start. Race 4: MOUNT FRANKLIN Maiden Handicap 1200 metres ALLUSIONIST – Weakened badly in the home straight. T Marshall reported that when rounding the home turn his mount became awkward in its action before commencing to weaken. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M Freedman advised stewards that he would report back to stewards in the coming days regarding the horses recovery. Following this report stewards will determine if any further action should be taken. EL MAESTRO (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. COLLEAGUES (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages and raced ungenerously throughout. TE JINA ROSE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and 200m. VITAL SOURCE – Slow to begin. Following the running of this event M Potgieter rider of the third placegetter VITAL SOURCE lodged an objection against SHNITTY, which had been placed first, alleging interference near the 200m. After taking evidence from the riders involved, stewards determined that whilst VITAL SOURCE had attempted to secure a run between SHNITTY and ALLUSIONIST the mare was disappointed for this run and obliged to steady and shift out near the 200m. Furthermore, stewards were satisfied that both ALLUSIONIST and SHNITTY had shifted ground and therefore could not solely attribute the interference to the shift of SHNITTY and dismissed the objection before declaring correct weight. Disappointed for a run near the 200m and obliged to alter course to secure clear running. HAZ DE BEE – Declared at late scratching at 12:20pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice, after the gelding injured the off hind hoof when being transported to the course. Trainer S Barling was advised that a vet certificate would be required prior to HAZ DE BEE starting again. OFF ROAD – Slow to begin. M Hellyer reported that it had not been his intension to lead however when caught wide during the early stages he elected to ride forward to the lead in order to obtain a position closer to the fence. Race 5: XXXX DRY Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres MY BEST EFFORT – Forced to shift in and be restrained from heels near the 900m. Apprentice Jaden Lloyd, the rider of DAINTREE DIVA, pleaded not guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that when passing the 900m he allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of MY BEST EFFORT, which resulted in that runner being forced to shift in and be restrained to avoid the heels of DAINTREE DIVA. Apprentice Lloyd’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 20.8.2021 and to conclude midnight 28.8.2021. Forced to steady to avoid the heels of PROVIDE, which shifted in, M Potgieter, the rider of PROVIDE, was reprimanded for this incident. KALIYA – Reared and dislodged the rider behind the barriers, in this incident the cross-over noseband on KALIYA broke and as no replacement cross-over noseband was available, stewards permitted the mare to race without this piece of gear. Raced wide without cover. RUBIELIE – A Mallyon reported that his mount raced ungenerously throughout and was reluctant to race to the inside of other runners. SIENNA'S CHOICE – Over-raced when the pace slackened near the 900m and had to be checked from heels before shifting out making heavy contact with BONNIE EV. BONNIE EV – Bumped heavily and forced wider near the 900m and then raced wide from that point onwards. Race 6:CASCADE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 2030 metres BOOMTOWN RAT – Held up for clear running for a short distance passing the 100m. DASHING SPECIAL – Slow to begin. GO DARCY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages. Held up when rounding the home turn and checked from heels near the 300m when disappointed for a run, before being held up until near the 250m. RIDGEWOOD DRIVE – Wide throughout. HEIRBORN (NZ) – Raced wide from the 800m. AUTMED – Weakened badly and finished tailed off. Connections were advised that the geldings nomination would be refused from metropolitan venues. PRINCESS CAVALLO – Wide during the early stages. Hung in during the middle stages. WONDERFUL DAY (NZ) – Blundered on jumping. Over-raced during the early stages. Race 7: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1350 metres FIFTEEN ROUNDS – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages and obliged to shift wider to avoid heels near the 900m before racing wide from that point onwards. Became awkward when bumped on the hindquarters by SUPER GORGEOUS, which shifted out. ROYAL SHEEN – Difficulty obtaining clear running near the 250m and until the 100m. Tightened for room and checked over the concluding stages. SUPER GORGEOUS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 250m until the 150m. PHANTOM COURT – Checked when tightened for room over the concluding stages. Apprentice Madeline Wishart pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she permitted PARKO to shift out under pressure, which resulted in PHANTOM COURT being tightened for room and obliged to check from the hindquarters of ROYAL SHEEN over the concluding stages. Apprentice Wishart’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 15.8.2021 and to conclude midnight 26.8.2021. Race 8: BRC MEMBERSHIP BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1630 metres JOCHBERG – Raced wide during the early stages. GOTTA BE FIRST – Slow to begin. STORM HARBOUR – Over-raced during the early stages. Bumped by BROOK HILL near the 300m WILD SHEILA – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.CHEERS TO ALL – Shifted out to improve near the 300m and made contact with BROOK HILL. BROOK HILL – Over-raced for a short distance near the 900m. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn. Bumped by CHEERS TO ALL and forced wider near the 300m. Hampered when tightened for room over the concluding stages. BUCKLE UP BABY – M Du Plessis reported that his mount shortened stride in the straight. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.IPSO NEM FELEK – Raced wide throughout.
