SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Eagle Farm Saturday 14th August Race 9:
Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason for STUTTERING, GHOSTLY and TOUJOURS L’AMOUR all being crowded for when racing to the inside AVOWAL near the 1200 metres. Subsequently apprentice K Cowan, rider of AVOWAL and in the presence of trainer P Duff,  pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear resulting in STUTTERING, GHOSTLY and TOUJOURS L’AMOUR all being crowded and STUTTERING being severely buffeted for room.  The licence of K Cowan to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 21st August up to and including midnight 29th August 2021. K Cowan was reminded of her rights to an Internal Review.
 
 
Race 1: MEKKA RACES 26 SEPTEMBER Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
 
BRAVE WARRIOR – Jumped in at the start.
 
BEARHUG – Began awkwardly. Pulled very hard in the early and middle stages proving difficult to settle. Raced wide throughout. Trainer K Kemp advised it would now be his intention to trial BEARHUG and experiment with gear changes prior to its next race start.
 
TE JINA ROSE – Slipped behind on jumping and lost ground.
 
 
Race 2: BRC MEMBERSHIP OPEN Handicap 1350 metres
 
CRUZE – Bumped on jumping.
 
ADMUND BOY – Slow to begin.
 
CATESBY – Over-raced near the 800 metres before shifting three wide for the remainder of the event.
 
SHIJIN – Jumped out at the start bumping CRUZE. When asked to comment on the performance rider J Lloyd advised the mare travelled fairly throughout the event however when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. J Lloyd was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the line.
 
 
Race 3: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
GET EVEN – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Had difficulty obtaining clear running at the entrance to the home straight.
 
GIVEITAGO – Bumped on jumping.
 
LAYLA'S SONG – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
LEAGLESE – Shortly after the start hampered between RISING SPIRIT which laid out and ROYAL REBELLION and lost ground. Near the 100 metres steadied from the heels of GET EVEN which momentarily rolled in.
 
MY PINS (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after bumping its head in the tie-up stalls and cleared to start.
 
RISING SPIRIT – Raced ungenerously leaving the 800 metres before momentarily shifting wider on the track. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ROYAL REBELLION – Raced greenly near the 250 metres.
 
SOOBLOND – Jumped out at the start.
 
 
Race 4: COUNTRY MUSIC WEEKEND 10-SEPTEMBER QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings 1200 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when I KNOW DAT proved difficult to load.
 
ACTION JACKSON – Raced three wide without cover throughout the event.
 
AZURE PRIDE –Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DARKENED DESTINY – Jumped out at the start.
 
IMBATIDO – Rider B Nothdurft reported the gelding never travelled at any stage of the event and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KAMARCHER – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
RAW GOLD – Slow to begin. The saddle on the colt shifted forward in the early stages of the event placing its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Awkwardly placed at heels approaching the 700 metres.
 
I KNOW DAT – Difficult to load delaying the start. Raced ungenerously in the early stages and proved difficult to ride.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 6.
 
 
Race 5: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1050 metres
 
LIZA WITH A ZEE – Jumped out at the start.
 
FIVE OXFORD – Checked on jumping and lost ground when tightened between LIZA WITH A ZEE and HIGHLAND SON.
 
HIGHLAND SON – Jumped in at the start. Steadied near the 800 metres when LIZA WITH A ZEE shifted in when not totally clear. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor, rider of LIZA WITH A ZEE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 800 metres. Apprentice J Lloyd reported the horse over-raced for a major portion of the race which had a detrimental effect on the overall performance of HIGHLAND SON.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CORAJILLO – Began awkwardly and raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
IAMICAN – Steadied from the heels of HIGHLAND SON passing the 800 metres.
 
 
Race 6: CASCADE BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1650 metres
 
SENRIMA TIDE (NZ) – Rider B Stewart reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
 
BRILLIANT CONCEPT – Raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
 
LADY SOLERNO – Due to current covid restrictions, Stewards permitted apprentice S Tomlinson to ride the mare claiming 2kgs of his 3kg allowance.
 
RED LIGHT ROXANNE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover from the 1000 metres.
 
HOPEFUL STAR – Slow to begin.
 
WAY BEYOND - Rider B Nothdurft reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
 
After steady rainfall the track was downgraded to a Heavy 8 following the running of this event.
 
Race 7: XXXX DRY Class 5 Handicap 1200 metres
 
ENTERPRISE PRINCE- Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and then inclined to lay in under pressure in home straight. Rider B Stewart was fined $300 pursuant to 131(b) in that he failed to ride ENTERPRISE PRINCE out to the end of the race. In determining penalty Stewards could not be satisfied that his actions had cost ENTERPRISE PRINCE third place and also took into account the prevailing track conditions and visibility.
 
UNGUARDED – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
REBEL SALUTE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
READY BABE – Trainer M Currie was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of rider. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
GOOD CHAT – Declared a late scratching at 3:10pm at the request of trainer D Vandyke due to the track downgrade to a Soft 6.
 
SING FOR VIOLET – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres
 
TOLKOWSKY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid out under pressure near the 150 metres and bumped with KAIBERRY which had a tendency to lay in.
 
CHOMPERS  - Rider J Byrne reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions and was eased down near the 300 metres after rider J Byrne became concerned with the horse’s action near the 300 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of CHOMPERS revealed no abnormalities other than some coughing when pulling up.
 
PERFECT IMPRESSION – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the home turn until passing the 200 metres.
 
RUBIELIE – Trainer G Allard was fined $200 pursuant to LR67 for the declaration of rider. Slow to begin.
 
THREE PHASE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
PARLOUR – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
KAIBERRY – Had a tendency to lay in near the 150 metres.
