POOL PONY – Taken wider near the 1000m and had to be checked from the heels of STAR PATROL when the pace slackened near the 800m. SATURDAY SINNER – Passing the 1000m had to be restrained from the heels of POOL PONY. STAR PATROL – Slow to begin. B El-Issa reported that after being only moderate to begin, he had to restrain near the 1100m and following this, his mount proved difficult to ride and was inclined to hang out for the majority of the race. Trainer K Fogden reported that she would potentially experiment with the gear of STAR PATROL at its next start. Lost an off-hind plate during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities Race 2: ADVANCED BUILDINGS QTIS 3YO FILLIES MDN PLT – 1350M CAPITAL GIRL – Passing the 300m shifted out to improve into a run and became unbalanced before being corrected by its rider. FEAR THE NIGHT – Contacted on jumping. Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 800m. GOLDEN ATHENA – Hampered on jumping. Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. LAYLA'S SONG – Passing the 800m was tightened for room and had to be restrained when CAPITAL GIRL commenced to overrace and shifted in. LUNA GLIDE – Passing the 250m was taken wider when weakening by CAPITAL GIRL. NATALIEANN – Forced wider at the 800m and raced wide from that point on. OCEANA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SWEAR ON A PROMISE – Jumped awkwardly contacting FEAR THE NIGHT. Passing the 250m had to be steadied from heels of OCEANA when taken out by LUNA GLIDE who was taken out by CAPITAL GIRL. Jockey M Du Plessis reported that his mount was inclined to hang out in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested over the final 200m. TILIBET – Checked at the 800m from the heels of LAYLA’S SONG and shortly after commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from the heels of SWEAR ON A PROMISE. Race 3: PATTERSONS BUILD GROUP BM70 HCP – 1650M THE IRONS – Passing the 1500m bumped with RAPIDOLE (IRE) and taken wider shortly after. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RADIPOLE (IRE) – Passing the 1500m bumped with THE IRONS. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. NEPTUNE'S CHOICE – Allowed to stride forward by its rider apprentice M Wishart passing the 1100m to race outside the lead by the 900m. Shifted out under pressure over the final 250m LADY SOLERNO – Restrained momentarily when attempting a narrow run between NEPTUNE’S CHOICE and RAPIDOLE (IRE) rounding the home turn. Race 4: STEAMATIC MDN HCP – 1650M REGAL EDITION – Held up from the 600m to rounding the home turn. VOLUNTEER – Passing the 1300m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of DAY DAY SUPREME (N Callow) who shifted in when insufficiently clear. At a subsequent inquiry jockey Callow was found guilty of a charge of careless riding\ under AR131(a) and his license to ride in races was suspended from the 15th October 2021 to the 23rd October 2021. SENNACHIE – Raced three wide without cover from the 1000m onwards. TANGO TINO – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey M Cahill could offer no explanation for the performance. He added his mount travelled well throughout the event but failed to respond when asked for an effort. Trainers representative M Laming advised stewards that TANGO TINO was stepping up to the 1650m today and may not have handled the distance rise. She added that intentions would now be to freshen up the gelding and drop back in distance to a 1400m. COERCED – Slow to begin. BIG ANDY – Slow to begin. NORTH ROCKS – Shifted out and raced ungenerously when placed under pressure in the home straight. SPOTTED WONDER – Stood flat footed and missed the start. Race 5: JOHN LYNG GROUP C3 HCP – 1200M BONAPARTE – Passing the 850m had to be steadied from the heels of THE BIG GOODBYE. Jockey T Marshall (THE BIG GOODBYE) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. THE BIG GOODBYE – Bumped on jumping. MASTER RED – Shifted out on jumping bumping with THE BIG GOODBYE. CONTESSA – Pulled hard in the early stages. OSCARS LOT – A Thompson – As apprentice S Tomlinson was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by apprentice A Thompson who was permitted to ride the gelding 0.5kg over its allotted weight. Apprentice S Tomlinson was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3) for failing to fulfill his engagement. Race 6: MORSE BUILDING CONSULTANCY RATINGS BAND 0 - 68 HCP – 1350M EL COYOTE (GB) – Pulled hard in the early stages. RICH LISTER – Slow to begin. Inclined to hang in the home straight. MERIMEE – When questioned regarding the performance jockey J Byrne reported that while he was disappointed with the performance, he felt that the race wasn’t run to suit MERIMEE and added that he was unable to get a suitable cart into the race which further exacerbated the performance. Stable representative B Killeen advised stewards that he would undertake to report back on the condition of MERIMEE in the days subsequent. Race 7: PAYNTERS C1 HCP – 1100M Prior to the start of this race, after being pre-race sampled and the Sample Collection Officer had completed the relevant documentation, VANTINA (NZ) became fractious, and its leg became entangled with the Sample Collection Officer’s equipment. A pre-race veterinary examination revealed superficial lacerations to its off fore, however as VANTINA (NZ) was continuing to display erratic behaviour, she was subsequently withdrawn at 4.25pm after consultation with Trainer T Gollan and the veterinarian. A report will be furnished to the Chief Steward regarding this incident. PRIVATE CHEETAH – Knuckled on jumping. EVAN ALMIGHTY – Held up for clear running from the 500m until rounding the home turn. FLEUR DE ROSE – Slow to begin. Jockey M Du Plessis reported that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event which placed him at a severe disadvantage for the entirety of the race.
