Stewards permitted the following weight variations: Race 5: B Loy - HATCHET - 55kg (+0.5kg)Race 9: M Cahill - VIRTUOUS MISS – 55kg (+1kg) Race 1: EUREKA STUD QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres MISHANI WARFARE – Rider J Orman reported the horse raced flat today and failed to quicken when placed under pressure passing the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Ross advised MISHANI WARFARE would now be sent for a spell. FLASHING STEEL – Rider B Loy reported the horse travelled well throughout the race but failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CRIPPS TONITE – Over-raced in the early middle stages of the event. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. HOOT 'N' HOLLER – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. ALFA LILY – Held up on heels rounding the home turn. ECHO HUNTER – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Race 2: XXXX DRY Maiden Plate 1650 metres Prior to weighing out for this race rider B Loy pleaded guilty to a charge under AR188(a) in that hemanipulated the wearing of a safety vest to gain an unfair weight advantage in a race and was fined $1000. ADAIR – Restrained from the heels of ENTERPRISE JEWEL near the 800m. Approaching the 400m shifted out to improve and hampered HARD OFFER. LOVESTONED – Change of tactics, more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Approaching the 800m, when over-racing, clipped the heels of ADAIR and blundered. TIGER LENY, which was following, was hampered in consequence. MAPLE DOOR – Hung out and raced intractably when over-racing in the early and middle stages of the event before progressing forward to race outside the leader approaching the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. ENTERPRISE JEWEL – Caught wide in the early stages of the event. HARD OFFER – Over-raced in the early stages when racing in restricted room. Hampered near the 400m when ADAIR shifted out. PRETES – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event. TIGER LENY – Hampered approaching the 800m. HOKE'S RUN – Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Race 3: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Plate 1200 metres Following an incident in the vicinity of the racecourse precinct, all races were put back one time slot with Race 9 re-scheduled to start at 5:02pm. After being loaded into the barriers THE BRONX BULL became fractious was removed, underwent a veterinary examination, and was declared a late scratching at 1:51pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on THE BRONX BULL refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st MILLWARD - 2c win, 3c place2nd LANDSBOROUGH LAD - 2c place3rd MARLEEDOONE – 4c place Trainer M Wilson was advised THE BRONX BULL would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. LANDSBOROUGH LAD – Change of tactics, to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. After beginning well and with no speed from runners drawn to the outside, led the event. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages placing its rider at some disadvantage. MILLWARD – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Near 150m hampered when LANDSBOROUGH LAD laid out. MOON STALKER – Very slow to begin. Trainers’ representative for R Heathcote was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of MOON STALKER. SUKICHE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. MARLEEDOONE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. OUR ARMISTICE – Jumped out at the start and bumped SPRESSI. Held up rounding the home turn. I AM THAT I AM – Began awkwardly. SPRESSI – Change of tactics, to be ridden more conservatively early with cover. Ridden accordingly. Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn. FUMBLEROOSK – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Race 4: SKY RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres Prior to declaration of Correct weight B Loy, rider of second placegetter ARCHDEACON, viewed the patrol footage rounding the home turn before electing to take the matter no further. WHY WE DRINK – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. When asked to comment rider M Cahill stated the 61kg impost, coupled with the horse being caught wide throughout, contributed to the performance today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. BEAN DANCING – Bumped at the start. CUDYADO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. LIGHT OF BOOM – Near the 800m and again near the 500m restrained from the heels of KARAOKE QUEEN. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. STARZAM – Jumped out at the start and bumped BEAN DANCING. VACCINE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. KARAOKE QUEEN – When asked to comment rider B Thompson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: BRC FAMILY RACEDAY 30 JULY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres THE KEWESS – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Raced in restricted room near the 800m for a short distance. MERIMEE – Bumped at the start. MISHANI UNTAMED – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. ARGYLE PINK – Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. AIRSTRIKE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. HATCHET – Jumped out at the start and bumped MERIMEE. KISS GOODBYE – Awkwardly placed on heels in the early stages when the pace steadied. Rider T Marshall reported instructions were for the horse to be ridden conservatively from the wide barrier and after travelling comfortably in the run failed to respond when placed under pressure, adding that KISS GOODBYE felt short in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer M Hoysted advised Stewards KISS GOODBYE would now be sent for an immediate spell. I KNOW DAT – Began awkwardly shifted out and lost ground. Race 6: CASCADE Class 1 Plate 1350 metres BEN HUR – Hung out severely throughout the event and was uncompetitive throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed /////. Trainer P Kimmet was advised the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into a post-race veterinary report on BEN HUR. CRAZY EYED FRED – Raced greenly in the home straight when placed under pressure. CARNEROS – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. FASTNET JACK – Slow to begin, then unable to muster speed in the early stages of the event. VITAL SOURCE – Slow to begin. Rider L Cassidy reported the horse did not feel comfortable throughout the race and was disappointed with the overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer C Munce was advised VITAL SOURCE would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start. PRASIOLITE – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, representative for trainer C Waller stated the horse was better suited racing on today’s firmer track surface. Stewards noted the explanation. SELLING SUNSET – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. JAYANTHI – Rider R Maloney reported the horse raced flat today and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Representative for Co-trainers Maher and Eustace was advised JAYANTHI would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start. Race 7: MEKKA RACES AUGUST Class 5 Handicap 1650 metres ZAWADI – Laid in rounding the home turnDONANDKIM – Slow to begin. SPIRIT ESPRIT – Slow to begin. BIGGIE – Trainer A Sawden was fined $200 under LR67 for the late rider declaration on the horse. Race 8: BRC MEMBERSHIP BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres WUDANG BLADE – Jumped out at the start. MAXIMUM OUTPUT – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before shifting out a short distance later to secure clear running. HENSCHEL – Slow to begin. VOULAIT – Passing the 100m raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of WUDANG BLADE which shifted in under pressure. CECIL STREET LAD – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Over-raced when held up between the 600m and the 400m. MOONAN JOYCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider S Thornton reported A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. IN AWE OF ME – B Loy, rider of IN AWE OF ME, had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 5th August up to and including midnight 12th August 2022 under AR132(5) for use of the whip in 19 occasions throughout the race, 5 more than permitted. Race 9: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB Class 2 Handicap 1110 metres After becoming fractious in the tie-up stalls and sustaining injuries to the off foreleg and head region DOVETAIL DIVA was declared a late scratching at 4:13pm on veterinary advice. Trainer J Symons was advised DOVETAIL DIVA would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. FLYBRIDGE – Checked at the start and lost ground. TITANIUM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. SNAPPY REPLY – Jumped out abruptly at the start resulting in FLYBRIDGE being checked and losing ground. FINNICKY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Co-trainer M Hoysted was advised FINNICKY would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for 3 months and must gallop 1000m satisfactorily before a Steward prior to its next race start. HER EMPIRE – Slow to begin. GROOMED – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Near the 200m obliged to shift out across the heels of FINNICKY to secure clear running.
