QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB DOOMBEN – WEDNESDAY 10 AUGUST 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – 9.5MPENETROMETER – 5.6 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D AurischStewards – R Hitchener, C Simpson, P KennedyClerk of Scales – P ZimmermannJudge – R Thomas, M MahwhinneyVeterinarian – Dr S Flynn Swab Attendants – A Challen, L ChaplinStarter – S Lister, H Anderson GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting- Race 1- HARD OFFER- L Cassidy +1/2kg Race 4- NISHIKORI- B Loy +1/2kg Race 4- FIELD WIRI- S Collett +1/2kg Race 6- LOVE THE LOOK- A Allen +1/2kg As Jockey T Brooker was ill and not riding at the meeting, she was replaced as per the Stewards Summary. Race 1: DRINKWISE Maiden Handicap 1650 metresMAPLE DOOR- Laid out in the early stages and as a consequence shifted wider on the track rounding the turn near the 1200m. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of home straight, and as a consequence was reluctant to shift to the outside to secure clear running. HONESTYANDLOYALTY- Near the 1200m, tightened for room and eased when racing to the inside of FAUSTO which laid in whilst over racing. Held up rounding the home turn. YANGARI- Near the 250m, was checked to avoid the heels of FAUSTO (A Allen) which shifted in. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey A Allen the rider of FAUSTO was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 250m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of YANGARI resulting in that runner being forced to check to avoid heels. Jockey Allen’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 16/08/22 and to expire midnight 24/08/22. In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful of Jockey Allen’s prior good record in relation to this rule. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. VON CRUMB- Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Jockey M Du Plessis advised that it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning well gelding settled further forward than he anticipated. EASIER SAID- Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Forced wider by another runner approaching the 1500m. COMETTI- Made the turn near the 1200m awkwardly and shifted wider on the track. Over raced during the early and middle stages. SIMPLY ROSE- Forced wider by another runner approaching the 1500m. As a result of being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 800m. FAUSTO- Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Race 2: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY SEPTEMBER QTIS 3-Y-O Fillies Maiden Handicap 1200 metres BETTER YET- Raced wide until approaching the 700m. HEARSAY- Laid in under pressure in the home straight. YES TO EXCESS- After beginning only fairly, was tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Checked from heels near the 900m and shifted wider on the track. Improved onto heels near the 650m and again shifted wider on the track. BELLE OF THE BAYOU- Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. Raced greenly. Raced in restricted room near the 250m when runners either side shifted ground. RED STAR RUBI- Bumped on jumping. Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. ROSATO- Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages and steadied from heels near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority. Race 3: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS 3-Y-O Colts & Geldings Maiden Handicap 1200 metres HOBSY- After being loaded, broke through the barriers before being immediately restrained by its rider. Was subsequently examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. Raced in restricted room near the 100m and brushed the running rail. STARRY EYES- Steadied from heels whilst laying in near the 250m. DEFERENTIAL- Disappointed for a run near the 250m, when STARRY EYES which was racing to the outside laid in. Held up over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested. FLYING MIKKI- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. SADDLES- Slow to begin. TOO HARD TO REFUSE- Momentarily raced in restricted room near the 250m. WESTERN HALO-After being caught wide in the early stages, was ridden forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 700m. NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP- Slow to begin. Race 4: SPRING CARNIVAL NOVA LAWN PARTY Class 4 Handicap 1350 metres NEED NEW FRIENDS- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. TAIRUA- Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. ZOU ZOU KACANARKIS- After being caught wide in the early stages, was restrained to a rearward position with cover approaching the 800m. FIELD WIRI- Raced keenly in the early stages. Attempted to shift wider on the track near the 500m to improve, however was prevented from doing so by another runner and as a consequence became held up for a short distance. Jockey S Collett was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 5: BRC MEMBERSHIP 18-29 YEARS ON SALE NOW Maiden Plate 1350 metres DUTCH GOLD- Began awkwardly and as a consequence settled further back than anticipated. LANDSBOROUGH LAD- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly whilst being restrained in the early stages. Near the 700m improved onto heels and was eased. PUNT YOUR WAY OUT- Near the 700m improved onto heels and was eased. Bumped heavily near the 150m. SIMASUE- Near the 700m improved on to heels and was forced to shift wider. SUKICHE- Began awkwardly and was then bumped by another runner. Raced wide without cover for the majority. BOITUMELO- Began awkwardly losing ground. Bumped heavily near the 150m. MOTTRAM- Near the 700m improved on to heels and was forced to shift wider. Race 6: TIESTO AUSTRALIAN TOUR MARCH 2023 Class 1 Handicap 2060 metres MASTER MARKO- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. PORT MOURANT- Jumped with its head in the air. SAINT MARTIN- Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. TEXAS HOLD'EM- Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority. MAGIC MIKEY- Over raced in the early stages. ADALISSA- Laid out rounding the home turn. DOUBLE BARRELL- Raced 3 wide with cover from near the 1000m before shifting 4 wide to improve from the 700m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres HENSCHEL- Held up rounding the home turn. ENABLER- Held up rounding the home turn. SMYTZER- Dipped on jumping. VACCINE- Tightened for room shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
