Race 1: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1350 metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by jockey B. Thornton (rider of second placegetter PRINCE SHALAA) alleging interference in the home straight, against the winner HONKYTONK DIVA (K. Wilson- Taylor). Stewards, after taking evidence from both riders, and trainer S. O’Dea, were satisfied that HONKYTONK DIVA did shift out and impede the running of PRINCE SHALAA inside the final 100m, and considering the margin, and the manner with which the horses finished the race off, Stewards were satisfied that the interference caused to PRINCE SHALAA was greater than the margin, and upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the new numbers of 3, 4, 2, 9.
