QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB DOOMBEN - WEDNESDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 2022 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Good 4, Soft 7 retrospective to Race 5, Heavy 8 retrospective to Race 6. J Orman was fined $200 under AR190(3) Race 1: THE 4 AUSSIE HEROES FOUNDATION Maiden Plate 1650 metres After being loaded into the barriers, JAMROCK reared and cast both front legs on the barrier partition, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination, and subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:10pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on JAMROCK refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st: DUTCH GOLD – 5c win, 3c place2nd: SARSEN – 9c place3rd: MARLEDOONE – 7c place Representative for A Neasham was advised JAMROCK would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. BARTA LINES – From the wide barrier was restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. BIRMINGHAM – Weakened from the 400m. Rider B Thornton could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion and slight bruising to the off forearm. SARSEN – Taken wider on the track rounding the home turn to avoid the heels of the weakening BIRMINGHAM. STAR OF COUTEAU – Near the 200m bumped by IDONO which laid out. ZEEBLING – Slow to begin. IDONO – Rider W D’Avila reported the horse was inclined to lay out for a major part of the race. SUKICHE – Began awkwardly. Rider A Thompson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE Class 6 Handicap 1050 metres PROPER ROGUE – Bumped at the start. SHAMROCK LU – Laid out approaching the finish line and bumped PROPER ROGUE. DALTORO – Jumped out at the start. Restrained for some distance from the heels of HIDDEN HAIL approaching the 600m. Held up for clear running between the 500m and 150m before shifting wider on the track to improve. Approaching the finish line was steadied when SHAROCK LU shifted out under pressure. BLACKJACK BOOM – On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. TUDOR MUSIC – Began awkwardly and bumped with PROPER ROGUE. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Race 3: THE 4 AUSSIE HEROES FOUNDATION Fillies and Mares Class 3 Plate 1350 metres ZOUKINA – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Taken wider rounding the home turn.DECEMBER DIAMOND – Rounding the home turn improved onto heels and shifted out resulting in both ORPHAN’S TRUST and ZOUKINA being forced wider on the track. EVRYNOW'N'THEN – Trainer V Heading was fined $100 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the horse. Slow to begin. GOLDSCHLAGER – Began awkwardly. Lost near hind plate in running. HIGHLY AMBITIOUS – Checked at the start when INSPIRATION jumped in abruptly. INSPIRATION – Jumped in abruptly at the start. LARAINA – Change of tactics, to be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. After beginning very well, and with limited pace shown by runners drawn to the inside, was allowed to stride forward by its rider and lead the event from the 1200m. ORPHAN'S TRUST – Taken wider rounding the home turn. THIRD TIME ROUND – Over-raced in the early stages and near the 800m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. WHY SHY – Leaving the saddling enclosure became fractious, resulting in its offside hip making heavy contact with the outside fence, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Race 4: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1350 metres BOOM COURT – Jumped out at the start and bumped THE MISSIONARY. THE MISSIONARY – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. PARISIAN LADY – Rider B Thompson reported the horse travelled comfortably throughout the race, however when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: THE 4 AUSSIE HEROES FOUNDATION Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 3 Plate 1350 metres AY BEE ARE – Over-raced in the middle stages and near the 900m was restrained from heels for a short distance. DANEZEL – Raced three wide with cover from the 700m. GREEN REIGN – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages of the event. TITANIUM – From the wide barrier was restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. THE BRUMBY -Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 7 retrospective to race 5. Race 6: EUREKA STUD BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1650 metres OUR REBEL – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Orman advised the horsefailed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MAGIC CONQUEROR – On arrival at the barriers the near fore plate was refitted. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. BECANDLENI – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. CROCKETT – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. HALLOWED GIRL – Slow to begin. Momentarily held for clear running at the entrance to the home straight. OCTAVIAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. TOO MUCH CLASS – Slow to begin. Rider B Thompson reported the horse travelled comfortably in the run however failed to let down in the heavy conditions when placed under pressure in the home straight. Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Heavy 8 retrospective to Race 6. Race 7: THE 4 AUSSIE HEROES FOUNDATION BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres SNAZZ 'N' CHARM – Prior to the event Stewards questioned trainer M Dunn over his decision to start the horse on today’s heavy 8 surface, particularly as the horse had been scratched from its most recent engagement at GCTC meeting on 17th September 2022 on a heavy racing surface. Mr Dunn explained after consultation with owners of SNAZZ ‘N’ CHARM it was decided that with no preferred race in the foreseeable future, they elected to start the horse today. Mr Dunn added that going forward SNAZZ ‘N’ CHARM would not start on a heavy track surface. SPIRIT'S CHARM – Slow to begin. ARCHDEACON – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. CHAPELIS – Slow to begin. Race 8: THE 4 AUSSIE HEROES FOUNDATION Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres CONTROL FREAK – Declared a late scratching at 4:15pm due to the track downgrade. SCRIPT WRITER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. SPICY SONIC – Declared a late scratching at 4:48pm due to the track downgrade. IMMORAL – Raced wide for the majority of the event. ORONOCO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
