Orman 56kg + 0.5kg = 56.5kg Race 1: PIERATA FIRST YEARLINGS IN 2023 QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1110 metres MISHANI RAIDER – Laid in over the final 200m when placed under pressure. BOOMSTER – Raced keenly in the middle stages. CHRYSAOR – Slow to begin. Awkwardly placed on heels of BOOMSTER rounding the home turn. GIVE HIM WINGS – Restrained from a wide barrier. Overaced and laid out in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Race 2: RACECOURSE VILLAGE Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200 metres CARRIBEAN KING – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SHADOW OF TIME. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SPENDING MY TIME – Overraced in the early stages. On the home turn, carried POETIC CHOICE wider on the track. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DYNAMIC DUO – Overraced in the early stages. Race 3: SKY RACING Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200 metres BULLOO – Slow to begin. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor reported at scales that after being slow to begin, he then had to ride the mare with vigour in the early stages. He added that she travelled well and worked to the line well in the straight, but he was of the opinion that she would better suited on tracks with more give in the ground and also would be better suited in races over a further distance than that of today’s event. Trainer S. Kendrick was also of the view that BULLOO will be better suited to a step up in distance. TRANQUIL BAY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DARING BELLE – Overraced in the early stages. Race 4: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS ON SALE NOW QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1350 metres SAILOR'S SECRET – Slow to begin. ENTERPRISE ATTACK – Laid out rounding the home turn. Lost the off fore plate in running. VEANDECHANCE – Shifted in after the winning post and ENTERPRISE ATTACK shifted out at the same stage, hampering CLAIRVUE MOLLY for room. CLAIRVUE MOLLY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 2200 metres TRADUCE – Slow to begin. APPLICATIONS – Jockey B. Thornton reported on returning to scale, that the gelding felt flat and may be feeling the effects of recent racing. The gelding underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. HILLCREST AVENUE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SHERIFF CODY – Overraced during the middle stages. ADALISSA – Overraced during the middle stages. Race 6: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Class 3 Plate 1640 metres WITHOUT REVENGE – Bumped on jumping with WHODAT. MOKTAFFY – Bumped on jumping with DAINTREE DIVA. TAKUNAI – Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages. WHODAT – Bumped on jumping with WITHOUT REVENGE. DAINTREE DIVA – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with MOKTAFFY. LARAINA – Apprentice W. Peel reported on returning to scale that the mare felt awkward in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of the thumps. RATIONS – An objection was lodged by jockey J. Byrne (rider of third placed RATIONS) against 2nd (WHODAT – K. Wilson-Taylor), alleging interference over the final 300m. After taking evidence from all parties, it was established that RATIONS shifted out near the 300m and bumped with WHODAT. Over the final stages, WHODAT then moved in and bumped with RATIONS. Stewards in considering both the margin between 2nd and 3rd, and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the numbers 1, 6, 9, 3. MAGIC MIKEY – Slow to begin. Lost near hind plate in running. Race 7: XXXX Class 6 Plate 1350 metres RUN FOR GLORY – Laid in during the early stages. GUNTANTES – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KINLOCH – Held up for clear running in the home straight until the concluding stages. RUBAMOS – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. Improved into a narrow run between RUN FOR GLORY and MAGIC IN ME near the 250m. TURN ON THE CHARM – Slow to begin. Became awkward on the heels of RATHLIN near the 450m. STREET DANCER – Held up for clear running until the 200m. Race 8: CHANNEL 7 BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1110 metres HIGH COST – Raced three wide throughout. BE WATER MY FRIEND – Slow to begin. Rider M. Du Plessis commented that in his opinion the gelding may have felt the effects of the firm track today. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer M. Park was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. STARVIRGO – Slow to begin. SHAMATON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 9: NOVA 106.9 NYE PARTY ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 1640 metres LIGULATE – Held up for clear running in the home straight and had to alter course to the outside of LINTHORPE LAD near the 150m. HAIL MANHATTAN – Connections advised that the gelding will be ridden further back from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. AT WITZ END – Raced three wide throughout. BARGANNON – Raced three wide throughout. LINTHORPE LAD – Underwent farrier attention on arrival at the barrier.
