SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From SCTC Friday 2nd December 2022 Race 4 - BRIGHT DAISY – Trainer B Healy reported the horse underwent a veterinary examination at his stables the following day and was found to be showing signs of tying up, adding that no other abnormalities were detected. Mr Healy added that he intended to continue with BRIGHT DAISY’S current preparation.
 
From SCTC Sunday 4th December 2022 Race 7 - READILY AVAILABULL – Trainer J Bruce reported the horse had pulled up with no obvious abnormalities and would continue with the current preparation, adding that he would consider trialling READILY AVAILABULL prior to its next race start.
 
GENERAL
 
Following Race 4 Stewards took possession under AR22(1)(d) of a mobile phone found in the possession of rider James Orman in the jockey’s room. After taking initial evidence from Mr Orman stewards adjourned an inquiry into this matter to a time and date to be fixed.
 
 
Race 1: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH Maiden Plate 1350 metres
 
HE'S A HOTFOOT – Jumped out at the start and bumped NEOCLASSICISM. Rider R Maloney reported the horse may have choked down in the run. Trainer A Campton advised he would have his stable veterinary surgeon examine the horse tomorrow morning and would report back to Stewards any condition which may come to light.
 
DARING DIEGO - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LEINSTER- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MONEY BEAR – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
NEOCLASSICISM – Bumped at the start. Approaching the 300m shifted out and bumped UNCONVENTIONALLADY.
 
TOO HARD TO REFUSE - Began awkwardly.
 
DAMIANI – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped heavily with KARAPIRO which lost ground. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
 
FIRSTLUV – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Held up approaching the home turn before being obliged to alter course near the 200m to secure clear running.
 
SPOOKY SPECTRE – When asked to comment on the performance rider W Peel reported the horse was obliged to work hard in the early stages to cross and lead event, adding that SPOOKY SPECTRE may be better suited in races over a shorter distance than that of today.
 
UNCONVENTIONALLADY – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 300m was bumped by NEOCLASSICISM which shifted out to improve.
 
YANKEE BLOSSOM – Raced keenly in the early stages before being restrained to a position with cover. Lost off hind plate in running.
 
KARAPIRO – Bumped heavily at the start by DAMIANI and lost ground. Following the event rider M Cahill reported he was struck in the face by the horse when moving out onto the track and subsequently examined by the on-curse doctor and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
Following this event, the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.
 
 
Race 2: LADBROKES IT! QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
DARK HARMONY – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Bumped shortly thereafter by SPACESHIP. Raced greenly in the middle stages of the event. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ELROY – Brushed with MISSION OF LOVE on jumping away. Rider T Marshall reported the horse was inclined to race greenly at various stages of the event and that ELROY would derive fitness benefit from today’s race, adding that the horse may also appreciate races over a longer distance than that of today.
 
SATELLITE SPIRIT – Crowded for room shortly after the start. Leaving the 700m improved onto the heels of GERRYMANDER and had to be steadied. Held up approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off fore canon.
 
SPACESHIP – Bumped shortly after the start by DARK HARMONY. Rounding the home turn shifted out and away from GERRYNMNADER and as a consequence was momentarily awkwardly placed at the heels of PORKY and had to be steadied.
 
PORKY – Jumped in at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GERRYMANDER – Leaving the 800m eased momentarily when the pace of the race steadied.
 
MISSION OF LOVE – Brushed with ELROY on jumping away. Approaching the 700m raced keenly for a short distance at the heels of YASMEEN.
 
QUEEN ASSASSIN – Held up for clear running from the entrance of the home straight until leaving the 150m.
 
YASMEEN – Rider J Orman reported it was not his intention to lead, however after being caught wide in the early stages he elected to allow the horse to stride forward and obtain a forward position closer to the rails.J Orman, rider of YASMEEN, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
VALIANT JOAN – Began awkwardly.
 
Following this event, the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
 
 
Race 3: NUTURF QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
ABLE SEAMAN – Bumped heavily at the start when O’ CALLOGHAN jumped out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than a slow post-race recovery. Trainer T Gollan advised it would be his intention to have the horse scoped by his stable veterinary surgeon in the coming days and would report back to Stewards any condition which may come to light.
 
BOLD HUSSAR – Bumped heavily at the start, blundered resulting in rider N Berriman becoming very awkward in the saddle.Approaching the 150m improved onto the heels of MINTAKA LAD and was obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.
 
LA SOEUR – Jumped out at the start and bumped heavily with BOLD HUSSAR.
 
OLENTIA – Jumped in at the start and bumped heavily with BOLD HUSSAR. Leaving the 200m shifted in when racing greenly under pressure.
 
O'CALLOGHAN – Jumped out at the start and made heavy contact with ABLE SEAMAN. Rounding the home turn momentarily crowded for room and became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between LA SOEUR and OLENTIA.
 
 
Race 4: XXXX BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 2220 metres
 
SACRAMENTO JOE – Inconvenienced passing the winning post on the first occasion when racin keenly at the heels of TUKI TWELVE. Over-raced in the middle stages. Stable representative Mr M Eggleston reported the horse was not suited by the slow early pace of the race as well as the 59kg impost. He added it would now be the stable’s intention for SACRAMENTO JOE to be freshened prior to its next race start. 
 
MADAME MO – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 300m improved onto the heels of QUOTENT and had to be restrained before obtaining clear running near the 150m.
 
OUTBACK GLADIATOR – Jumped in at the start and hampered CONTRERAS. 
 
SAVAHEAT – Slow to begin.
 
CLASS OF ROYALTY – Change of tactics, from the wide barrier to be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Forced wider from the 1400m when SACRAMENTO JOE shifted out.
 
FLYING JOY – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion raced in restricted room to the inside of OUTBACK GLADIATOR which shifted in. A Jones, rider of OUTBACK GLADIATOR, was advised to exercise greater care. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Held up for clear running approaching the 400m before shifting wider on the track to improve. Laid in during the early stages of the home straight when placed under pressure.
 
CONTRERAS – Hampered at the start when OUTBACK GLADIATOR jumped in.
 
TUKI TWELVE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the winning post on the first occasion improved onto heels and had to be steadied.

AY BEE ARE – Raced keenly approaching the 1500m after improving onto the heels of MADAME MO. A post-race veterinary examination revealeda minor laceration to the near hind stifle.

SET ME UP – Apprentice J Lloyd, rider of SET ME UP, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip on two consecutive occasions prior to the 100m.
 
QUOTANT – Stewards permitted the horse to race without blinkers after trainer B Lineburg gave an undertaking that he had enacted a gear change to that effect prior to acceptance time. Following this event, it was established this had not occurred and Mr Lineburg was fined $200 under AR206(3)
 
THE HOUSEMAN – Following the disappointing performance, a post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near hind leg. Trainer J Bellamy was advised THE HOUSEMAN would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
 
 
Race 5: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1640 metres
 
OSTERMEIER – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground.
 
RAGING POLE – Disappointed for a run between OUTBURST and VALLEY’S SISTER leaving the 200m before being obliged to shift inwards a short distance later to secure clear running.
 
OUTBURST – Leaving the 200m shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider.
 
GREEN REIGN – Checked approaching the 1400m and subsequently forced wider on the track before then progressing forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 1000m. At a subsequent inquiry K Wilson-Taylor, rider of VALLEY’S SISTER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GREEN REIGN which was checked and forced wider on the track. The licence of K Wilson-Taylor was suspended to ride in races for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 14th December up to and including midnight 23rd December 2022. When weakening near the 200m shifted in and bumped DUBAI DEE.
 
GREEN FLASH – Bumped at the start with VALLEY’S SISTER.
 
TWICE ON SUNDAY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
VALLEY'S SISTER – Bumped at the start with GREEN FLASH.
 
DUBAI DEE – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
Race 6: ROKU GIN BRISBANE Handicap 1640 metres
 
PANCHO – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Jumped out at the start and bumped ADELASE.
 
LINTHORPE LAD – Caught wide in the early stages of the event.
 
COULDN'T REFUSE – Held for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ADELASE – Bumped at the start. Approaching the 1000m raced in restricted room to the inside of COULDN’T REFUSE which was crowded for room by LINTHORPE LAD which shifted in momentarily. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer B Baldwin was advised ADELASE would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for a period 3 months and must gallop 1000m satisfactorily in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start.
 
DZENIFER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 7: MOUNT FRANKLIN Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres
 
DIXON BAY – Steadied near the 800m to avoid the heels of DOVETAIL DIVA which was inclined to lay in at that point.
 
DOVETAIL DIVA – Laid in near the 800m. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Apprentice J Lloyd, rider of DOVETAIL DIVA, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip on two consecutive occasions prior to the 100m.
 
MAGNITUDO – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
DEEP ROUGE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly for a short distance near the 800m.
 
JABALI RAIN – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages when being restrained.
 
READY FOR BETTER – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1350 metres
 
WILMOT PASS – Slow to begin.
 
ABRACADAZZLE – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground.
 
ANDY – After being caught wide in the early stages of the event and being unable to be restrained, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain the position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
AYAHUASCA – Jumped in at the start.
