QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB DOOMBEN – WEDNESDAY 14 DECEMBER 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – 11 metres.PENETROMETER – 5.8 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P Zimmermann.Stewards – D Aurisch, R Hitchener, J Cremin.Clerk of Scales – C FredrickJudge – R Thomas, M Mahwhinney, A ReddingVeterinarian – Dr S Flynn, D A LobbSwab Attendants – K Kilpatrick, J PedofskyStarter – S Lister, H Anderson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From- 13/12/2022 Trainer Rex Lipp was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR228(a) in that during a post-race Sky Channel interview following the winning performance of BURNISH GOLD in Race 6 at Ipswich 2/12/2022 he made statements with reference to its previous start in Race 5 at the Sunshine Coast on 19/11/2022 when placed 6th that the horse was having a Barrier Trial as it had missed solid lead up work due to inclement weather. Stewards determined that the comments made by Mr. Lipp were prejudicial to the image and integrity of racing and fined Mr. Lipp $1000. Stewards having reviewed the race in question have no concerns in the manner, which Tegan Harrison rode the filly. Mr. Lipp was also reprimanded pursuant to AR105(1)(a) for failing to notify Stewards of any matters that may affect the running of a horse in a race and to ensure that the horse is fit and properly conditioned to race when presented. GENERAL Stewards approved the follow jockey to ride overweight- Race 3 James Orman (SUPPRESSION) plus 1/2kg at 56kg. Race 1: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH Maiden Plate 1200 metres HELLO NEWMAN– Jockey M Harley could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance of the colt, other than it was making an abnormal breathing noise during the event. A post-race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities. LEISURE GAMES- Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 1000m. OUTA TAORMINA- Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Near the 300m improved onto heels and was required to shift outwards to secure clear running. ROSATO- Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Race 2: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1350 metres GIULIA- Raced in restricted room near the 900m. SOKUDO- Jockey N Tomiziawa was reminded of his obligations in relation to using his whip on horses when out of contention. PETUNIA – Slow to begin. SMART STAR PRINCE- Bled both nostrils during the event and as a result was eased down by its rider in the home straight, failing to complete the event. As this was the first occasion on which the gelding had bled, it will now incur a 3 month ban from racing and further would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards prior to next racing. In addition to having bled, the Veterinary Surgeon reported the gelding was suffering from heat stress post-race. SILVER GALAXY- Slow to begin and then tightened for room shortly after the start losing further ground. As a result of over racing, was allowed to stride forward by its rider in the early stages to obtain the leading position approaching the 900m. Raced greenly in the early stages of the home straight and then shifted in abruptly near the 250m. MY ODDETTE- Near the 50m when tiring, raced in restricted room for a short distance and was steadied. SUMNAMILLA– Near the 900m was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed at the heels of GIULIA which was taken in by SMART STAR PRINCE which shifted in when not completely clear. R Maloney the rider of SMART START PRINCE was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. ROSE OF DUPORTH- Checked when disappointed for a run near the 250m before shifted outwards to secure clear running. Following this then had difficulty securing clear running for a large portion of the home straight. Race 3: MAGIC MILLIONS BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 2070 metres MONTABOT- Exiting the home straight on the 1st occasion, was tightened for room and checked before being forced wider for a short distance. NAMAKWA- Held up in the early stages of the home straight before being shifted outwards near the 250m to secure clear running. Exiting the home straight on the 1st occasion, whilst racing keenly, shifted despite the efforts of its rider. OUR REBEL- Turned its head just prior to the start being affected and lost ground. Shortly after the start was bumped heavily and lost ground. ISABELLA'S SPRING – Began awkwardly. Jockey J Huxtable reported that after beginning only fairly, the mare settled further back than he anticipated. SUPPRESSION- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly early and middle stages. Laid in approaching the finish making contact with the rail. CIRCLING- Exiting the home straight on the 1st occasion, shifted in marginally and as a resulted was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. GENERAL WOLFFE- Raced keenly during the middle stages. Near the 1500m was steadied when placed in restricted room. Race 4: ZOUSAIN FIRST YEARLINGS SELLING 2023 Class 2 Handicap 11metres PUTONTHEREDLIGHT- Held up rounding the home turn. SHAJAEA- Began awkwardly losing ground and as a result settled further back than anticipated. SPIRIT PRINCESS- Raced greenly in the early stages of the home stages. MR ENCORE- Near the 900m, shifted out abruptly after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of SPIRIT PRINCESS which shifted out marginally. As a result, raced wide without cover for some distance. Made the home turn awkwardly. Race 5: LADBROKE IT! BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres NERETVA- After making contact with the running rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon on arrival at the barriers and subsequently cleared to race. OFFICE JIM- Raced wide in the early stages. DUBLIN DE QUO- Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: XXXX DRY Class 1 Handicap 1660 metres GERARDJOSEPH- Began awkwardly and shifted in. After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to assume the leading position near the 1100m. Over raced during the early and middle stages. SO YOU KNEW– Tightened for room at the start and then over raced in the early stages. Momentarily steadied to avoid heels approaching the 100m. VAN NUYS- Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight when attempting a narrow run to the inside of GERARDJOSEPH which shifted in marginally. OKALANI- Over raced in the early and middles stages. LADY DANORO– Over raced in the early and middle stages. GRENADIERS– Bumped on the hindquarters at the start.
