Race 1: GO GECKO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1600 metres
 
IRISH PLAYBOY – Apprentice J. Lloyd when asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, reported that the gelding was one paced today and was left flat footed when the speed increased leaving the 800m, and in his view would be better suited over a further distance than that of today’s event.
 
SO DAPPER – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
TREVELYAN – Began awkwardly.   
 
INDIAN DREAMER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey M. Harley was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip six (6) times prior to the 100m, being 1 more than permitted .
 
HOPEFUL STAR – Slow to begin. Lost the near fore plate in running.  
 
Race 2: NOVA 106.9 BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2000 metres
 
ROMAKASH – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for the last 1200m.
 
COMMAND KING - Slow to begin.
 
TAPPY'S LAD – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer K. Taplin was advised that TAPPY’S LAD will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
A BIG CHANCE – Slow to begin.
 
CHOCOLATIER – Raced wide for the last 1200m.
 
CONFUSION – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: XXXX CITY TO SURF PLATE 1600 metres
 
WEST OF AFRICA – Slow to begin.
 
RED TOP – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TYRESA – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres
 
HARD TO SAY – Jockey A. Morgan reported at scale that it was his intention to be further forward but due to being interfered with at the start, he got further back than he anticipated. Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Morgan lost his whip near the 100m.
 
PALAZZO SPIRIT – Took the turn near the 800m awkwardly, and shifted out becoming awkward on the heels of BILLIONAIR BABY.
 
ALERT STATE – Jockey T. See pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when not fully clear of TARPS near the 900m resulting in that runner being tightened and checked. Jockey See’s license to ride in races was suspended for eight (8) days commencing midnight the 27th of December 2022 until midnight the 4th of January 2023.  Near the 150m, had to be checked when tightened for room between BILLIONAIR BABY, which shifted in slightly and SPANISH ANGELS, which rolled out when MISHANI WARFARE shifted outwards bumping SPANISH ANGELS.
 
DEB’S ELLIE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HARD TO SAY.
 
SIGHTSEER – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice A. Jones pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she was careless in shifting in when not fully clear of BILLIONAIR BABY near the 850m. Apprentice Jones license to ride in races was suspended for twelve (12) days commencing midnight the 31st of December 2022 until midnight the 12th of January 2023. Ms Jones was advised of her right to internal review.
 
SPANISH ANGELS – Raced wide throughout.
 
TARPS – Trainer S. Morrisey was fined $100 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Began awkwardly.  Near the 850m, had to be checked off heels when ELLOWS HALL lost ground.
 
ELLOWS HALL – Tightened for room near the 900m. Near the 850m, had to be checked severely as a result of losing ground.
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS B.J. MCLACHLAN STAKES 1200 metres
 
CIFRADO – Held up for clear running over the final 100m.
 
MISS COOTA – Jockey C. Williams commented that he had no specific instructions from connections,  and as there was speed drawn to his inside and also with the filly beginning slightly slowly, he elected to ride further back then midfield with cover. He added that the filly was inclined to hang out throughout the event and worked to the line well in the straight under the circumstances. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a swab sample was taken. Trainer C. Munce was advised to report to Stewards if anything may have affected the filly’s performance in the coming days.

FREEMAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey M. Du Plessis was examined by the club doctor and cleared to take his remaining engagements after he was dislodged behind the barriers.
 
Race 6: CHANNEL 7 Class 6 Handicap 1350 metres
 
JOVIALITY – Jockey J. Orman when asked to comment on the performance of the mare reported that the mare travelled fairly in running but failed to let down in the home straight as expected and proved disappointing. Lost the near fore plate in running.

RAYJEN – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be stepping short behind and also displayed a cough on several occasions throughout the examination. Trainer R. Heathcote reported that he intends for the mare to undergo a full veterinary examination in the coming days including x-rays and an endoscopic examination, and report back to the Stewards the results of the examination. A veterinary clearance must be presented prior to the mare racing again.  
 
PIVOTAL MOTION – Near the 800m, tightened for room to the inside of PETRONIUS which was taken in by RAYJEN.
 
 
Race 7: LADBROKES BERNBOROUGH PLATE 1600 metres
 
LONDON BANKER – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
SKYMAN – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
ARAMAYO – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS FALVELON 1200 metres
 
KING OF SPARTA – Jockey C. Schofield dropped his whip at the 150m.
 
GARIBALDI – Raced three wide throughout.
 
EF TROOP – Bumped with DOCTOR ZOUS on jumping.
 
REDOUBLE – Raced wide throughout.
 
DOCTOR ZOUS – Jumped awkwardly and bumped with EF TROOP.
 
MONTENEGRO MAN – Slow to begin.
 
Race 9: SEASONS GREETINGS FROM BRC Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
ARENTEE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in bumping with LISZTOMANIA. Held up for clear running in the home straight until the 150m.
 
SAFEWORK – At the 500m, shifted out and carried LISZTOMANIA wider on the track.
 
DOVETAIL DIVA – Jumped awkwardly.
 
LISZTOMANIA – Bumped with DOVETAIL DIVA and ARENTEE on jumping. Jockey A. Morgan was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting inwards over the final 200m when not fully clear of SAFEWORK. Jockey Morgan was advised to exercise more care in future.
 
ROLL UP – Raced wide.
 
BURNISH GOLD – Raced wide throughout.
