QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB @ DOOMBEN WEDNESDAY 11th JANUARY 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – + 6.5 meters entirePENETROMETER – 5.78 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D AurischStewards – J Williamson, K Daly, S Coulthard, J CreminClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – R Thomas, G Tozer, A ReddingVeterinarian – Dr S Flynn, Dr S McGinnisSwab Attendants – L Chaplin, J PedofskyStarter – R Smith, P Cousins GENERAL Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:Race 1: KAZZA’S JET – James Orman – 56kg (0.5kg) As M Powell was delayed arriving on course due to a mechanical breakdown, and as M Harley was transported to hospital after a fall in Race 3, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race Day summary sheet. Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate1200 metres CLASSIC BOOM – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. LEISURE GAMES – Bumped shortly after the start with HEARSAY.Raced wide for the majority of the event. PIE PARTY – Jumped out at the star and hampered SWANIC BOOM. SWANIC BOOM – Hampered at the start. Rider R Jamieson reported it had been her intention to settle in a more forward position, however after beginning only fairly and being hampered shortly after the start, SWANIC BOOM settled further back in the field than anticipated. DARE I SAY – Raced wide for the majority of the event. HEARSAY – Jumped in at the start.Bumped shortly after the start with LEISURE GAMES. Held up rounding the home turn. I AM TAKINGTHELOT – Bumped at the start when HEARSAY jumped in. Raced wide for the majority of the event. IN BARCELONA – When weakening passing the 200m had to be steadied when crowded for room by CALASSIC BOOM which improved into a narrow run to the inside of PIE PARTY. B Thornton, rider of IN BARCELONA, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. WHITE RIBBON – Checked at the start and lost ground. Near the 600m had to be steadied from the heels of SWANIC BOOM. Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200 metres Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Andrew Spinks, rider of 5th placegetter ALABAMBA GOLD, viewed the patrol footage in the home straight before taking the matter no further. BLISS – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. CAPITAL EYES – Delayed the start after proving difficult to load.Trainer D Bougoure was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of CAPITAL EYES.Began awkwardly. GRIS AMOUR – Hampered passing the 200m. ALABAMA GOLD – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Passing the 200m bumped heavily on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Lost off hind plate in running. BOOMSITA – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. HABEEBATI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. After being held up from the 500m, shifted out across heels near the 200m to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped ALABAMBA GOLD heavily on the hindquarters which became unbalanced. GRIS AMOUR, which was following, was hampered in consequence. R Maloney, rider of HABEEBATI, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Laid out passing the 200m. YANKEE BLOSSOM – Over-raced for a short distance near the 800m when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. ZUMAIA – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Race 3: MOUNT FRANKLIN Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1200 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 10 minutes when DARK TANGENT required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers and CAREFUL MISSILE had to be removed from the barriers after both front legs became cast. After being loaded into the barriers CAREFUL MISSILE reared and both front legs became cast. Subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:15pm on veterinary advice. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on CAREFUL MISSILE refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1st HELLUVA BARTY – 5c win, 2c place2nd RUSSIAN SUB – 10c place3rd HYPERVELOCITY – 9c place Trainer K Martin was advised CAREFUL MISSILE would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. DARK TANGENT – Trainer B Lockwood was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the horse. On arrival at the barriers the near hind plate was refitted and was subsequently cleared by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. GOT THE VIBE – Taken inwards abruptly at the start and lost ground. HELLUVA BARTY – After beginning very awkwardly, knuckled on jumping and shifted in abruptly resulting in GOT THE VIBE being badly crowded for room and taken inwards and DEFERENTIAL clipping the heels of GOT THE VIBE and rider M Harley being dislodged from DEFERENTIAL. M Harley was treated by the on-course doctor before being transported to RBH hospital for further treatment. Laid in during the early stages of the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of HELLUVA BARTY revealed abrasions to the off foreleg. DEFERENTIAL – Clipped heels shortly after the start dislodging rider M Harley. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the offside elbow and abrasions to the offside foreleg. RAPID DUDE – Shifted out to improve passing the 100m and brushed STAR CHANCE. STAR CHANCE – After being slow to begin, was then checked from heels a short distance after the start. Laid in during the early stages of the home straight and passing the 200m had to be eased from the heels of RAPID DUDE. Passing the 100m momentarily held up on the heels of DEEP MILLIONS CANYOUFEELIT – Over-raced for a short distance passing the 800m. HYPERVELOCITY – Over-raced for a short distance passing the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination of HYPERVELOCITY revealed abrasions to the near foreleg. Race 4: 35 EUREKA STAKES GRADUATES IN 5 YEARS Class 4 Handicap 1050 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 10 minutes awaiting a replacement QAS vehicle after rider M Harley was transported to hospital following a fall in Race 3. BUYING TIME – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1640 metres SAILOR – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. GHOSTWRITER – After racing keenly passing the 1000m shifted out and progressed forward to race outside the leader from the 700m. TWO SMOKIN BARRELS – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.TERANGA – From the wide barrier restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Race 6: SKY RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1350 metres DARK HARMONY – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. JOHNNY UTAH – Jumped out at the start and bumped CHIKA. KUREDER – Near the 100m shifted in despite the efforts of its rider before being corrected.KALENDS – After being fractious in the tie up stalls, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. DARING DIEGO – From the wide barrier restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before shifting wider on the track passing the 200m to secure clear running. HEROIC MISS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. CHAYSE'N' THE KING – Slow to begin. CHICKA – Bumped at the start. MISHANI SUPREME – Began awkwardly. Near the 150m momentarily held up for clear running. Race 7: XXXX DRY Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres JIMMY'S DREAM – Rider B Thompson reported the horse travelled comfortably during the race however when placed under pressure in the home straight was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. SEEFELD – Slow to begin. GREYT INTENTIONS – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Race 8: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres GAP YEAR – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. SOUNDS DIVINE – Began awkwardly. Improved onto the heels of GAP YEAR approaching the 500m. SPARKY GIRL – Reared at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer T Churchill was advised the horse would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. QUEENSLANDER – R Maloney, rider of QUEENSLANDER, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. Race 9: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1200 metres RHYTHMIC PULSE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Checked passing the 150m. At a subsequent inquiry J Orman, rider of FASTCONI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that passing the 150m he allowed FASTCONI to shift in under pressure resulting in BUNDYANDCOKE being taken in which resulted in VETTA VELOCITA being hampered and crowded for room and RHYTHMIC PULSE being checked and lose its rightful running. The licence of J Orman to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 14th January up to and including midnight 25th January 2023. Stewards intend to follow up with Kyle Wilson-Taylor, rider of RHYTHMIC PULSE, regarding the quality of evidence he presented during the inquiry. ABDICATING – Slow to begin. SUBTERRANEAN – Hampered near the 800m. BUNDYANDCOKE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Over-raced badly near the 800m at the heels of ONCHAO, which was being restrained to obtain cover, and shifted in resulting in SUBTERRANEAN being hampered in consequence. Taken in near the 150m. MAXCALEMMA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. FASTCONI – Began awkwardly. HEAD LEGISLATOR – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. ONCHAO – Held up for clear running in the home straight. VETTA VELOCITA – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Hampered and crowded for room near the 150m.
