Loy +0.5kg Race 1: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1110 metres TOP FUN – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure. Jockey B. Thompson reported at scales that after being slowly away was unable to take up a leading position. APPROVAL – Raced greenly in the home straight. RUPERT'S HOUSE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide in the early stages, and was able to take up a leading position passing the 600m. TENGUN READY – Jockey R. Wiggins reported at scale that he was of the opinion that the filly may have choked down. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. CERARED – Slow to begin. Held up on entering the home straight until passing the 200m. Apprentice A. Jones could offer no explanation for the performance of the filly but that it would derive benefit for today’s run. MISHANI METALLIC – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out. QUEEN'S ARMS – Approaching the first turn at the 800m, had to be restrained from the heels of MISHANI METALLIC whilst over racing. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Inconvenienced passing the 500m by APPROVAL, which shifted out to improve. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. CYBERWARS – Slow to begin. Passing the 400m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of QUEEN’S ARMS and was obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running. Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN No Metro Wins Handicap 2000 metres ASHGROVE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ELEUTHERA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ENDLESS MYSTERY – Approaching the 400m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of FRIEND OF GOD, resulting in Jockey Cahill clipping the heels of FRIEND OF GOD and becoming dislodged. An inquiry into this incident was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. FRIEND OF GOD – Laid in throughout the event. Over raced early stages. LIKEABEEL – Failed to muster early speed. Jockey T. Harrison reported at scales that the gelding didn’t appreciate the track conditions today and was better suited racing on rain effected ground. VIVENZO – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Stewards will inquire into the circumstances which resulted in jockey L. Allen being dislodged from the gelding passing the 400m. AQUA ALTA – Slow to begin. Raced wide during the early stages. Both ENDLESS MYSTERY and VIVENZO were examined by the on-course veterinary officer and cleared of injury. Following the running of race 2, rider L. Allen and M. Cahill were both stood down for the remainder of the meeting. Rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 3: QTIS JEWEL RACEDAY 18 MARCH Class 3 Handicap 1600 metres TIDAL CREEK - Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Over raced during the middle stages, and passing the 1000m, as the pace of the race slackened, became awkwardly placed on the heels of DE MANARA and had to be steadied. CLYDE – Slow to begin. MIDNIGHT RAMBLER – Over raced during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SARODEC – Raced wide in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Co-trainers Adam and Dallas Simpson were informed that SARODEC would be restricted to races outside of the Metropolitan area until its form improves. ALERT AND READY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 200m. EYES TO EYE (NZ) – Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor reported that he would have preferred to have obtained cover, but also added that the gelding was stepping up to metropolitan level. SEDUCTION QUEEN – Co-trainers S. O’Dea and M. Hoysted were fined $100 for the late declaration of rider under LR67(1). GUNMETAL GIRL (NZ) – Slow to begin. Race 4: SKY RACING QTIS Class 6 Plate 1600 metres GENERAL DUBAI – Trainer L. Abbott was fined $300 for the late declaration of rider under LR67(1). The gelding underwent a post race veterinary examination, which revealed no significant findings. Trainer L. Abbott reported that the gelding will now be sent for a spell. MAJOR ARTIE – Jockey J. Orman reported that his instructions were to lead however when that wasn’t possible he elected to take a sit outside the leader, however, the gelding was slightly disappointing today when placed under pressure on straightening. Co-trainer A. Bott commented that in his opinion the long float trip make have had an effect on the geldings’ performance and he will report back to Stewards when MAJOR ARTIE travels back to the Sydney stable on the post-race condition and subsequent plans for the gelding. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. WAY BEYOND – Jumped awkwardly and slow to begin. MAGIC CONQUEROR – Began awkwardly. RELUCENT (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. ROGUE ROCKER – Slow to begin. Race 5: MARGARET GREENUP Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1350 metres BOLD AND LUCY – Difficulty obtaining clear running on turning into the home straight until passing the 300m. RENOUF – Over raced during the early stages. ENTERPRISE MIA – Over raced in the early stages. Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH 20-21 QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres Following the running of race 5, the track was upgraded to a Good 3. BAROQUE ROAD – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Orman reported that the gelding was disappointing and raced flat. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. HELLUVA BARTY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering home straight and was obliged to shift wider in an attempt to improve. DARK HARMONY – Began awkwardly. MISHANI PERSUASION – Trainer L. Ross reported that it is the stables intention to step the gelding up in distance, and if it fails to find form the geldings’ future in his stable will be re-evaluated. Mr Ross was advised that the geldings’ nomination would now be refused from Metropolitan meetings until such time as its form improves. APRIL IN AUGUSTA – Raced wide throughout. SIZZLING GAL – Jumped away awkwardly and restrained to take up a position close to the rail. Race 7: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1110 metres LET'S PARTY MARTY – Anticipated the start, jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m. Hampered on entering the home straight by DEEPOUR, which shifted out to improve. LIZA WITH A ZEE – Slow to begin after being fractious in the barriers. ZINGALONG – Raced wide throughout. DEEPOUR – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight then awkwardly placed on the heels of HIGH COST and was obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running. Jockey E. Chaves was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on two consecutive strides prior to the 100m. Race 8: XXXX DRY OPEN Handicap 1200 metres SIMPLY FLY – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey J. Orman stated that his mount failed to settle in the early stages and that it may be better suited over a shorter distance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ROMAN AUREUS – Raced wide throughout. HAUNTED – Began awkwardly, jumped out and bumped with STARVIRGO. STARVIRGO – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m had to be checked after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of HAUNTED. MAGIC CHARLEE – Momentarily inconvenienced when entering the home straight after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of ROMAN AUREUS. Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1350 metres IRISH SONGS – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced during the middle stages. When asked to comment on the improved performance, trainer L. White stated that the gelding had pleased her in its work leading up to today’s event and was better suited racing over today’s distance than its first up run over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. AMMOUDI BAY – Knuckled on jumping. Raced fiercely in the early stages. CRISTAL BREEZE (IRE) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. SWANSTON – Began very awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed which failed to reveal any abnormalities. BOLD WARRIOR – Over raced during the early stages. RATHLIN – Raced wide throughout. EIGER – Knuckled on jumping. RULE THE WORLD – Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. SUBTERRANEAN – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
