Orman commented that the colt resented racing between runners and when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to quicken as anticipated. He further added that he felt the colt may have been short striding in front. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.  Co-trainer Mr T. Sears when questioned by Stewards stated that he envisioned the colt to settle further forward however, as a result of ADELAD beginning awkwardly, he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated which he believed was not beneficial to its chances. He further added that in his opinion, ADELAD would appreciate a step up in distance at its next start and would hopefully be able to settle in a more forward position. Co-trainer T. Sears was advised that if anything came to light in the coming days that may have affected the colts’ performance to advise Stewards as soon as practical.
