Race 1: BREAKFAST WITH THE STARS 6 JUNE QTIS Class 6 Plate 1200 metres
 
ASTERO – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1100m, had to be restrained from the heels of ARGYLE LANE. Jockey M. Murphy was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) for shifting ground in this incident.
 
SIR WARWICK – Over raced during the early stages.
 
ARGYLE LANE – Bumped shortly after the start with BE WATER MY FRIEND.
 
ARENTEE – When questioned regarding ARENTEE leading the event, jockey C. Williams stated that it was his intention to settle just off the speed, but after jumping well and with the slow early tempo, he found himself sitting outside the lead where the gelding raced comfortably.
 
BE WATER MY FRIEND – Bumped shortly after the start with ARGYLE LANE. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
STORMY ROCK – Leaving the 800m, had to be steadied from heels. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SELF INDULGENT – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
AMITY GAL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey N. Beriman reported that the mare was inclined to over race and she also reported that the mare coughed several times on returning to scale. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
HAKKAI MARU – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied from heels. Jockey B. Thompson reported at scale that the mare wanted to lay out under pressure on entering the home straight.
 
Race 2: STRADBROKE CALCUTTA 8 JUNE 3YO Plate 1350 metres
 
ATMOSPHERE – Shifted in on jumping.
 
COUNT DA BEANS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly approaching the 800m. Had to be steadied from heels at the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BILLIONAIR BABY – Jumped awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming momentarily unbalanced. Passing the 800m raced keenly and had to be restrained off heels.
 
CHAIRMAN – Crowded on jumping. Raced keenly approaching the 800m.
 
SPOOKY SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 800m commenced to race keenly and had to be restrained off heels leaving the 700m.
 
THE RACKETEER (NZ) – Approaching the 400m, had to be checked after being crowded for racing room by MEMORIA, which was taken inwards by ATMOSPHERE after that runner was inclined to lay in.
 
EKATERINA – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and approaching the 75m had to be corrected by its rider.
 
MEMORIA – Shifted out on jumping.
 
 
Race 3: THE STAR BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1350 metres
 
MERITABLE – A post race veterinary information revealed no significant findings.
 
DON'T STOP – Began awkwardly and shifted out at the start. Raced wide.
 
TREVELYAN – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.
 
VIRAL – Began awkwardly, shifted in and crowded FESTIVAL PRINCE.
 
NOD OF THE HEAD (NZ) – Stewards allowed the gelding to race in a cross-over noseband rather than a Hanoverian noseband as advertised.
 
OCEAN TREATY (NZ) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 150m and then obliged to shift wider on the track.
 
INDIAN DREAMER – Slow to begin.
 
NATIONAL CHOICE – Began awkwardly. Obliged to alter course approaching the 200m, shifted out and inconvenienced MISS BALTIMORE.
 
FESTIVAL PRINCE – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.
 
ARGYLE PINK – Knuckled on jumping.
 
THE DROVER – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Approaching the 800m, had to be restrained from the heels of ARGYLE PINK which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice A. Jones was charged with careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Apprentice Jones’ license to ride in races was suspended for 9 days commencing midnight the 22nd of May and ending on midnight the 31st of May 2023.
 
MISS BALTIMORE – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 200m.
 
Race 4: CHANNEL 7 MEMBERS' HANDICAP 1600 metres
 
SUNSHINE RISING (FR) – Knuckled on jumping. Passing the 1000m, forced wider on the track by SANTERO which shifted out. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the near side hip and the gelding to be stepping short behind.
 
SEAT OF POWER (IRE) – Over raced in the early stages.
 
BIGBOYROY – Began awkwardly, shifted in bumping HEAD OF STATE.
 
BRUTALITY – Slow to begin. Leaving the 1000m, raced keenly at heels for a short distance.
 
MASTER JAMIE – Began awkwardly.
 
WAPITI – Leaving the 1000m, raced keenly at heels for a short distance. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CHARACTER – Jockey B. Thompson reported that he dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
IRISH PLAYBOY – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and had to be steadied.
 
STARDOME (NZ) - Raced wide throughout.
 
ALCYONE – Raced wide throughout.
 
JETTY – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after the start by ARCTIC THUNDER.
 
SANTERO – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
ARCTIC THUNDER – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly afterwards and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
HEAD OF STATE – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey K. McEvoy could offer no excuses for the performance of the gelding, except to add that it was first up from a spell today. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg and poor post race recovery. Trainer’s representative for the C. Waller stable, Mr B. Killion was advised that HEAD OF STATE will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
COUNT THE COIN – Raced wide in the early stages before striding forward to take up a forward position near the 800m.  
 
 
Race 5: SPIRIT OF BOOM CLASSIC 1200 metres
 
SOVEREIGN FUND – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
CIFRADO – Began awkwardly.
 
THE KING – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
ADDRIEL – Began awkwardly.
 
METALLIC RULER – Passing the 800m had to ease off the heels of DUCASSE whilst racing greenly.
 
DUCASSE – Leaving the 1000m, commenced to race ungenerously and shifted out abruptly when being restrained. Raced wide for the remainder.  
 
ARMED FORCES – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 6: JRA CHAIRMAN'S HANDICAP 2000 metres
 
CEPHEUS (GB) – Passing the 1100m, attempted to shifter wider on the track however was unable to as DUNE FORTY FIVE improved to that runners outside forcing CEPHEUS back in resulting in that runner becoming awkwardly placed on heels.  
 
NERVE NOT VERVE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LONDON BANKER (NZ) – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
WARNING – Raced wide throughout.  
 
KALAPOUR (IRE) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
OTYRAR (GB) – Slow to begin. Carried inwards over the concluding stages by KALAPOUR which laid in.
 
SECRET GLAMOUR – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SOUTHERN STOCK (NZ) – After racing wide early stages, restrained to take up a rearward position closer to the rail.
 
 
Race 7: LADBROKES ROUGH HABIT PLATE 2000 metres
 
THE VOWELS – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that the gelding will be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Shifted in on jumping. Steadied from heels passing the 1400m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Shifted out abruptly on jumping, hampering SNIZZI. Raced wide for the majority. Momentarily inconvenienced by WAITAK which shifted out whilst over racing. Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 600m.
 
WAITAK (NZ) – Began awkwardly, hampered and lost ground. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Near the 1200m, when over racing, had to be steadied from heels.  Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
STROKE OF LUCK – Slow to begin.
 
BULIKOV – Over raced during the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed clinical signs of the thumps and heat stress.
 
YASUKE – Shifted in shortly after the start and bumped FLASH PRINCE. Passing the 600m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of THE VOWELS. Was obliged to be restrained passing the 200m when racing in restricted room between BULIKOV and TAPILDOODLEDO.
 
SNIZZI – Severely hampered on jumping.
 
CUT ON A DIME – Slow to begin and hampered shortly afterwards.
 
XTRAREVZ – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
FLASH PRINCE – Began awkwardly, bumped shortly after by YASUKE. Passing the winning post on the first occasion had to be restrained to avoid the heels of XTRAREVZ which shifted in marginally. Jockey K. McEvoy was advised to exercise greater care.
 
SO DAZZLING (NZ) – When asked to comment on the performance of SO DAZZLING, jockey C. Williams stated that despite the wide barrier he could offer no excuses for the disappointing performance, and added that the filly raced plainly throughout. Trainer J. Sargent stated that he was of the opinion that the filly had no luck in running, and was better suited on rain effected tracks. He advised Stewards he would report back any condition that may come to light in the coming days that may have effected the filly’s performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
SPECIAL SWEY (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping. Was allowed to stride forward and take up a leading position passing the 1000m.
 
Race 8:LADBROKES DOOMBEN 10,000 1200 metres
 
MAZU – Began awkwardly, and severely hampered shortly afterwards. Approaching the 250m, shifted in to secure clear running.
 
A CASE OF YOU (IRE) – Obliged to steady at the 250m when crowded by MAZU which shifted in to secure clear running. Inside the 100m, elected to shift wider in an attempt to improve.
 
VILANA – Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
WEONA SMARTONE (NZ) – Shifted out at the start.
 
AFT CABIN – Bumped after jumping.
 
MARIAMIA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Obliged to alter course on entering the home straight.
 
CENTREFIRE – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly afterwards by VILANA.
 
 
Race 9: MAGIC MILLIONS BRIGHT SHADOW 1110 metres
 
SNEAKY FIVE – Began awkwardly.
 
A VERY FINE RED – Raced wide throughout.  
 
JE SUIS BELLE – Approaching the 1000m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of SERIGALA which shifted out. On entering home straight, became awkwardly placed on the heels of A VERY FINE RED. Raced wide throughout.   
 
HELLFEST – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200m.
 
MAJESTIC SHOT – Shifted out at the start. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
EXTREMIST – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
SIEGE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m and obliged to shift wider to improve.
 
COMRADE ROSA – Shifted in on jumping and bumped GHAANATI. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
CYTHERA – On arrival at the barriers, underwent farrier attention after losing a plate in the preliminary.
 
SERIGALA – Shifted in on jumping. Raced wide throughout.  
 
GHAANATI – Bumped on jumping. Leaving the 800m, commenced to race keenly. Approaching the 100m, was held up for clear running and when attempting to shift to the outside of TYPHOON TAAVI, was disappointed for a run when COMRADE ROSA improved to that runner’s outside. As a result, was then forced in back across the heels of TYPHOON TAAVI, and had to be restrained, shifted out and was severely hampered. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor, rider of COMRADE ROSA, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), in that approaching the 100m he directed his mount inwards to attempt to improve into a run to the inside of EXTREMIST, which forced GHAANATI across the heels of TYPHOON TAAVI causing that horse to lose its rightful running, be restrained and lose ground. Jockey Wilson-Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for 13 days commencing midnight the 20th of May 2023 until midnight the 2nd of June 2023.
