Stewards permitted the following overweights:

When R. Wiggins was indisposed (personal reasons), Stewards permitted the following change:

Race 1: MEKKAFEST 19 AUGUST Maiden Plate (1200m)
 
BLUE SWIMMER – Began only fairly and shifted behind runners from the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BLUEPRINT – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice C. Graham was reminded of her obligations regarding her whip use when out of contention.
 
ABLE SEAMAN – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Jockey J. Orman advised his intention had been to settle closer, however first-up over a shorter distance, the gelding was unable to show sufficient early speed and subsequently settled further back than may have been expected. Approaching the 900m when racing keenly on heels was obliged to shift wider.
 
BRING THE CHAMPERS – Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer B. Ahrens for a tongue-tie to be fitted to the gelding. Trainer B. Ahrens was fined $100 under AR236(3). Began awkwardly. From the widest barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Commenced to race keenly for a short distance thereafter. Raced greenly rounding the home turn.
 
DARING DIEGO – Bumped on jumping.
 
DEAL AN ACE – Momentarily held up on heels before shifting wider on entering the home straight.
 
KAI TAK – Trainer J. Bruce advised prior to the event that the intention would be for the filly to settle closer if circumstances permitted. Settled on-pace. Approaching the 900m became keen on heels and was obliged to shift wider.
 
 
Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1350m)
 
CALDANTE – Shifted in approaching the 1000m when not fully clear of OWN TOMORROW. App A. Jones was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Approaching the was 200m tightened onto the running rail when LOVE TONIGHT was taken in and commenced to weaken thereafter. App A. Jones reported that after being tightened for room her mount was reluctant to maintain its position and weakened from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
DEFERENTIAL – Raced greenly in the early stages.
 
RIPPER SHANK – Tightened approaching the 200m.
 
AHOY – Began awkwardly and shifted behind runners in the early stages. Held up for a short distance when leaving the 200m.
 
GURU CLASS – Approaching the 200m was obliged to be shifted off heels to obtain clear running.
 
LOVE TONIGHT – Improved onto heels approaching the 700m and obliged to steady. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early parts of the home straight until near the 100m when able to improve into a marginal run.
 
OWN TOMORROW – Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 1000m was inconvenienced when CALDANTE shifted in. Approaching the 200m commenced to race greenly and laid in, tightening runners to its inside.
 
REMANDED – Began awkwardly. Tightened approaching the 200m.
 
SIGNITA (NZ) – Commenced to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 3: XXXX DRY Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap (1110m)
 
CICCONE – Inconvenienced and obliged to shift wider over the concluding stages.
 
IRON GRACE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and was obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.
 
YALLA – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Taken wider approaching the 300m. Became awkwardly placed on heels over the concluding stages.
 
BRIGHT DAISY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 300m shifted out to avoid heels and in doing so took YALLA wider. Leaving the 200m obliged to check off heels and subsequently lost ground.
 
SAWEETIE – Began awkwardly. From the widest barriers was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
 
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH – Bumped on jumping. Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
CATWALK CRIMINAL – Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
IDONEUS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out abruptly leaving the 300m taking BRIGHT DAISY wider before again shifting out despite the efforts of its rider passing the 200m and inconveniencing BRIGHT DAISY. Apprentice C. Graham advised the gelding raced greenly throughout the event, however, could offer no explanation for the gelding weakening rapidly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K. Schweida stated that, in his opinion, the filly is better suited to races over shorter distances and attributed her way-ward running in the home straight to the fast it was commencing to tire. Nonetheless, Mr Schweida was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for its racing manners.
 
ON HOLD – Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
SNEAKY THREE – Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 4: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap (1110m)
 
WARBY – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
FREEDOM RALLY – Declared a late scratching at 2:17pm when the gelding dislodged its rider enroute to the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all wagers placed prior to 2:17pm:
 
9 cents in the dollar for the win
6 cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
10 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
11 cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer T Gollan was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
 
BALTRAY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Improved onto heels approaching the 600m and commenced to over-race. Leaving the 200m, when attempting to shift out to obtain clear running bumped with WARBY on several occasions.
 
BAUHINIA ROCK – Laid out under pressure near the 150m, momentarily hampering ZI WIN.
 
GREAT ASPIRATIONS (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels at the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer L. Wheeler was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

LUXOR PRINCE – Severely crowded at the start. Commenced to race keenly as a result of the steady pace approaching the 600m and obliged to shift wider. Hung-out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
ZI WIN – Laid out approaching the 700m. Momentarily hampered approaching the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the off-fore canon consistent with being galloped on in running.
 
 
Race 5: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (2040m)
 
KAIBERRY (NZ) – Laid out approaching the 1700m.
 
STARZAM – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight before being eased off heels approaching the 200m to obtain clear running. App C. Graham pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 1700m she did allow her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear, inconveniencing CHAYSE ‘N’ ARTIE, which was checked, before continuing to shift in and tightening GRECIAN LASS, which was obliged to restrain. App C. Graham’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing from 18th June 2023 up to and including 27th June 2023. In determining penalty Stewards considered App Graham’s good record in relation to the rule, her status as an apprentice, her guilty plea and forthright evidence as well as the degree of carelessness and severity of interference which were deemed to be in the mid-range. App Graham was advised of her right to an appeal.
 
GRECIAN LASS – Tightened and obliged to restrain near the 1700m.
 
RELUCENT (NZ) – Laid out approaching the 1700m. Commenced to lay in approaching the 1600m. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Laid in approaching the 300m.
 
CHERNAK (FR) – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
A DEEL OF HUMOUR – Knuckled on jumping. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
INUWASHI (IRE) – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
CARBONETTI (IRE) – Was declared a late scratching at 2:58pm on veterinary advice after the gelding became fractious in the barrier and got its near-foreleg cast. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all wagers placed prior to 2:58pm:

14cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
14cents in the dollar for 2nd place
17cents in the dollar for 3rd place
 
Trainer’s representative B. Killion was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to being required to trial to Stewards’ satisfaction for its barrier manners before racing again.
 
 
MISS KEELER – Held up at the top of the straight before being obliged to shift to the outside of runners to obtain clear running.
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Checked and lost ground near the 1700m
 
BRING THE STARS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
SEERESS – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 6: MULLINS LAWYERS Class 4 Handicap (1050m)
 
MUSCHIALLI – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
COCO ROX – Over-raced approaching the 600m. Momentarily held-up rounding the home turn.
 
AMITY GAL – Began awkwardly.
 
QUIET RIOT – Trainer J. Bruce advised that it was the intention of the stable for the gelding to be ridden with cover if circumstances permitted. Ridden accordingly.
 
RELIABLE RUBY (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
GAIUS – Began awkwardly and jumped in.
 
INASEC – Trainer T. Gollan was fined $200 under AR236(3) for the late request to remove the tongue control bit.
 
SADDLE BOY – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in approaching the 600m.
 
LUSKIN HERO- Jockey A Mallyon advised he dropped his off-side rein near the 200m before quickly regathering it.
 
 
Race 7: LADBROKES BET TICKER BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1640m)
 
A CALL FROM HEAVEN – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MISHANI MISSILE – Jockey B. Thompson reported he dropped his whip approaching the 100m.
 
GREEN REIGN – Trainer M. Dunn advised that the gelding would be ridden to settle in a more forward position if circumstances allowed. Was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. When Crowded near the 1200m
 
TAREX (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
TWYFORD – Began awkwardly.
 
PICK ZA BEANS – Began only fairly and from the wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
 
HARMONY REIGNS (NZ) – Raced keenly when getting crossed by runners at the 1200m. Jockey L. Cassidy advised that, in his opinion, the mare would derive a significant fitness benefit from the run.
 
AGENT OF MAYHEM – Began only fairly.

NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP – Hampered on jumping.
 
KRONENBOURG (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
 
 
Race 8: RACECOURSE VILLAGE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1350m)
 
EASY BEAST (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Crowded and taken in near the 800m.
 
BANDIT – Steadied approaching the 1000m when awkwardly placed on the heels, raced keenly for a distance thereafter.
 
ANCIENT GIRL (NZ) – Raced wide and without cover in the early stages of the event before being allowed to stride forward. Approaching the 800m, when shifting in to obtain a position closer to the running rail, crowded EASY BEAST, which was taken in onto MAJESTICS REQUESTS. Jockey B. Thornton was advised to exercise greater care. When questioned regarding the improved performance, co-trainer M. Hoysted advised the filly, which was down in class today, had impressed in its work and the stable had expected a forward showing.
 
ENABLER – Crowded over the concluding stages. App J. Molloy was fined $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on six occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
MAJESTICS REQUEST – Hampered and obliged to ease near the 800m before racing keenly for some distance thereafter. Again, commenced to race keenly on heels at the 500m. Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
DEEP ROUGE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SIBYLLA – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion, the filly is now ineligible from racing in Australia. Trainer’s representative B. Killion was advised of the provisions of AR79(6).
 
ESKY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Bumped over the concluding stages.
