SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Saturday 16th Sept Eagle Farm Race 2 NO MORE RED: Trainer S Morrissey reported he was satisfied with the manner the way the horse had recovered post-race, and would now monitor NO MORE RED’s progression and make a decision on its current preparation.
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:
Race 6: QUADRI – J Orman 56kg (+1kg)
As K Matheson was to be overweight in Race 7, Stewards permitted J Taylor to ride QUIET MICHAEL. In noting the circumstances, K Matheson was reprimanded under AR190(1).
As B Thompson was not riding in Races 1, 2 & 3 for acceptable reasons, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race Day summary sheet.
Race 1: LADBROKES YARD COMMENTS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1050M
CUNNAMULLA FELLA – Approaching the 200m shifted out across the heels of JAFUBOY to obtain clear running. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
JAFUBOY – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Lost near hind plate in running.
BETATHANEVA – When no other apprentice was available, Stewards permitted B Wheeler to claim only 2.5kgs of his 3kg allowance and was fined $300 under AR143(14). Slow to begin. Crowded for room and had to be steadied when MYSTIC MAC shifted in near the 600m. Held up approaching the home turn.
CHARPAT – Weakened from the 600m and uncompetitive from that point.A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from tachycardia. Trainer C Cousins was advised CHARPAT must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start and would also require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG before racing again.
MISSILE ONE – Over-raced for as short distance near the 800m. Approaching 300m laid in under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Rider C J Graham reported MISSILE ONE raced greenly for the majority of the event.
REMLAPS ANGEL – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.Raced greenly and shifted out abruptly near the 200m when placed under pressure and as a consequence, rider K Wilson-Taylor desisted from pressuring the horse over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress and an elevated heart rate. Trainer D Vandyke was advised REMLAPS ANGEL must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
TRY EVERYTHING – Began awkwardly.Taken wider approaching the 200m when REMLAPS ANGEL shifted out when racing greenly, and as result shortly after raced in restricted room between REMLAPS ANGEL and MISSILE ONE.
Race 2: CASCADE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1050M
LEMON SUPREME – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to rearward position closer to the rails.
SHOOTINGOFFTHEHAND – Began awkwardly.
ALLUMEUR – Began awkwardly.Over-raced for a short distance approaching the 700m
O'POLLY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
SAY IT'S SO – Dislodged on 2 occasions after arriving behind the barriers. Rider J Taylor was examined by QAS staff and cleared to ride. Underwent a veterinary examination prior to being loaded into the barriers and cleared to start.
The track was upgraded to a Good 3 after this event.
Race 3: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW CLASS 1 PLATE 1050M
TIME TO TESTIFY – Checked leaving the 800m.G Geran, rider of ITSMEMARIO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in leaving the 800m when being ridden along and insufficiently clear of TIME TO TESTIFY resulting in apprentice B Wheeler being obliged to check to avoid the heels of ITSMEMARIO. The licence of G Geran to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 23rd September up to and including midnight 1st October 2023.
BLUE SMARTIE – Slow to begin.
HELIKEDEMPRETTY – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. When asked to comment rider B Spriggs reported the horse was first up today and after being obliged to work hard in the early stages to secure a forward position, this had an effect on the manner HELIKEDMEPRETTY finished the race off over the concluding stages.
MISS HELMUT – Over-raced when racing keenly approaching the 700m. Crowded for room and had to be steadied near the 500m when INSTANT RESPONSE shifted in momentarily. D Thornton, rider of INSTANT RESPONSE, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
SHAPIN POWER – Near the 250m shifted out to improve and bumped SET TO SHINE which was bumped and taken wider on the track. K Wilson-Taylor, rider of SHAPIN POWER was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
Race 4: SKY RACING COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
BRASCO – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
CONFIRM NOR DENY – Approaching the winning post steadied from the heels of ROMEUS which shifted out.
DEFERENTIAL – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn and near the 400m obliged to momentarily stead from the heels of CHANCE WITH WOLVES.
HAPPISBURGH – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to rearward position closer to the rails. Crowded for room and steadied when MAGNATIC laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
MAGNATIC – Improved onto the heels of SQUEAK approaching the winning post and had to be steadied.
ROMEUS – Slow to begin.
Race 5: BRC MEMBERSHIP FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
ISLAND TIDE – Rider M Cahill reported after obtaining the lead the mare over-raced and did not settle despite his efforts and that this had a detrimental effect on the finishing effort of ISLAND TIDE over the concluding stages.
KAHRABA – Began awkwardly. Weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S Dwyer was advised in light of the poor performance the mare would now incur a metropolitan bar until it establishes form at provincial venues.
SHALAA SPIRIT – Jumped out at the start and bumped ANOTHERLOVELYDAY.
THEGIRLSGOTTHIS – Rider dropped whip approaching the winning post. A Jones, rider of fifth placegetter THEGIRLSGOTTHIS, pleaded guilty and was suspended for a period of 7 days under AR 131(b) for failing to ride her mount out fully to the end of the race. In assessing penalty Stewards were of the belief the actions of A Jones had cost THEGIRLSGOTTHIS 4th placing. The licence of A Jones to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 23rd September up to and including midnight 30th September 2023.
ANOTHERLOVELYDAY – Bumped at the start. Weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J Walk was advised in light of the poor performance the mare would now incur a metropolitan bar until it establishes form at provincial venues.
ANGEL'S CHORUS – Slow to begin. Weakened from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer V Venkaya was advised in light of the poor performance the mare would now incur a metropolitan bar until it establishes form at provincial venues.
KELANOA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from heat stress.
Race 6: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1650M
HYDE – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Shifted out across heels leaving the 150m to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped SHEPPEY which was taken out in turn and bumped SHEZA FIRECRACKER. B Wheeler, rider of HYDE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
APPLICATIONS – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
SHEZA FIRECRACKER – Bumped near the 150m.
SET ME UP – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to rearward position closer to the rails. Rider L Tarrant reported he was slightly disappointed in the performance of SET ME UP, adding that the mare put in an awkward stride approaching the home turn and may benefit from a step up in distance.
QUADRI – Rider J Orman reported the mare was not suited by today’s firmer track.
SHEPPEY – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Bumped near the 150m.
Race 7: ENCRYPTION CHAMPION QLD 1ST SEASON SIRE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 2060M
WHODAT – Jumped out at the start and bumped ROCKED. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
COPPLESON – Held up approaching the home turn before securing clear running near the 250m.
ROCKED – Bumped on jumping.
MAC MONTY – Slow to begin.
TUKI TWELVE – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to rearward position closer to the rails.
KUREDER – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Held up approaching the home turn.
QUIET MICHAEL – Blundered on jumping and lost ground.
Race 8: LADBROKE IT! CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200M
AMERICAN PRESIDENT – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Laid out for the majority of the event, and as a result near the 100 bumped heavily with SADDLE BOY which was forced wider as a consequence. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BITCOIN BABY – Bumped heavily on hindquarters near 100m, turned inwards and became unbalanced.
MY SNOW QUEEN – Raced in restricted room near the 800m. Leaving the 100m improved onto the heels of MORETON BAY, became awkward and shifted out taking QUACKERY outwards and bumping heavily with BITCOIN LADY, which was contacted on the hindquarters, became unbalanced and was turned in as a result. Soon after QUACKERY, when weakening, was buffeted between MORETON BAY and BITCOIN LADY, and was steadied.
HE KNOWS – Slow to begin.
OUTBURST – Held up approaching the home turn.
STORM THE FORTRESS – Raced in restricted room near the 800m.
QUACKERY – Slow to begin. Taken outwards near the 100m, bumped heavily and shortly after buffeted between runners when weakening. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
SADDLE BOY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied from heels near the 700m when the pace eased. Forced wider on track passing the 100m.
STRIKING PLAINS – Slow to begin. Near the 100m improved onto heels and shifted out taking HE KNOWS wider on the track. J Lloyd, rider of STRIKING PLAINS, was fined $300 under AR211(1) for retuning to scale 1kg overweight.
Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1350M
STARRY EYES – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn. Became awkwardly placed at heels soon after entering the home straight and as a consequence was obliged to shift inwards to obtain clear running.
RISING STAR – Over-raced at heels near the 800m and shifted out momentarily.
AMMAND – Laid in under pressure over final 100m.
RONLEE GAL – From the wide barrier, restrained shortly after the start to rearward position closer to the rails.
YASMEEN – Jumped in at the start and bumped STARRY EYES.
