Jockey Murphy was fined $100. Race 1: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS ON SALE NOW MAIDEN HANDICAP 1640 M ENCOMPASS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an abrasion to its off-fore knee. CRIMSON REWARD – Slow to begin. WIND OF HEAVEN – Near the 300m brushed with ENCOMPASS and then momentarily steadied when ENCOMPASS rolled in slightly. DELORME – Began awkwardly. Carried wider rounding the home turn when ENCOMPASS (J Bayliss) shifted out to improve. J Bayliss was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. PRETTY LITTLE LIAR – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.Race 2: LADBROKES RACING CLUB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1640 M CONQUISTADORES – When racing keenly approaching the 800m, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JUST A HERO. Held up for a short distance approaching the 400m. RASHFORD – Shifted in on jumping. Rider S Collett reported from the wide gate, the gelding did not show speed and to avoid being caught wide without cover, she elected to steady and race back in the field. SHADOW CRUISER – Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey R Dolan reported his horse was under pressure before the home turn, proved disappointing and raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer B Baldwin advised he had concerns as to whether the gelding had run at the distance of todays race and over the ensuing days would consider its current preparation. BILPA MOREA (NZ) – Near the 300m steadied and shifted out from the heels of THREDBO, which was weakening. IMPENDING ROSE – Hampered after start, when RASHFORD jumped in. JUST A HERO – Approaching the 400m was bumped by BALLROOM BLITZ, which was laying out. Race 3: CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1110 M CABSAV – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. LANDSBOROUGH LAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Eased down over the final 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally. Trainer D Vandyke was advised LANDSBOROUGH LAD would be suspended from racing under AR 79(4) for 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming racing. CABRINELLA – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover from the 600m. ROSE BY DESIGN – Slow to begin. Race 4: PEACHESTER LODGE CLASS 2 PLATE 1350 M CACOFONIX – When asked to comment on today’s improved performance, Stable representative for K Lees explained the gelding resumed recently from a long break, was slowly regaining fitness and in the smaller field today with blinkers and a tongue tie added and a fast tempo, CACOFONIX was able to obtain an uninterrupted run throughout the race and was expected to have a forward showing. DAYTONA – Rider R Maloney reported the gelding raced keenly for the majority of the event and failed to finish the race off. He said he had recommended to connections to consider an alteration to the gelding’s head gear. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. HANG FIVE – Became unbalanced when placed under pressure leaving the 300m. JESTER STATEMENT – Rider K Zechner reported the mare was under pressure for most of the event, failed to respond to his riding and was eased down passing the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer V Venkaya was advised JESTER STATEMENT would now incur a bar from racing in the Metropolitan area until it establishes satisfactory form at Provincial venues. Race 5: SAPPHIRE COMMITTEE MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M BANKSTOWN (NZ) – Laid out rounding the home turn. FIRST TO MARS – Slow into stride. Held up for clear running for the majority of the straight and went to end of the race without being tested. KITEMA – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages. OCEAN HONOUR – Passing the 300m checked and when disappointed for a tight run between PUSH TURBO and MISS SHU, which shifted in slightly. For a short distance after, was held up, before shifting to the inside of PUSH TURBO near the 150m and then raced in restricted room between PUSH TURBO and LEITZEL for a short distance after. MANNERHEIM – Had some difficulty securing clear running from passing the 300m until approaching the 100m. BEAM ME UP – Raced wide throughout. A CERTAIN MAYBE – Began awkwardly. Near the 700m was awkwardly placed on the heels of FIRST TO MARS, steadied and shifted out. Passing the 300m had difficulty obtaining clear running between OCEAN HONOUR and MANNERHEIM, before steadying and shifting out across the heels of MANNERHEIM into clear running. LEITZEL – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Passing the 300m, became unbalanced when close to the heels of BANKSTOWN after being carried in by RUSSIAN MYSTIC (J Lloyd), which shifted in from behind PUSH TURBO. In all the circumstances, J Lloyd was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. MISS SHU (NZ) – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Improved onto heels leaving the 800m and steadied. Raced wide without cover from the 800m. Approaching the 100m was steadied when tightened between MANNERHEIM and PUSH TURBO, both of which shifted ground slightly. Race 6: CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION LEGACY ADVISORY CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1640 M MANA COMBAT (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 250m was disappointed for a run to the inside of LEERY, which laid in. SUBSTANCE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. LEERY – Laid in under pressure leaving the 200m. Race 7: CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1350 MBEFANA – Over raced in the middle stages. Approaching 700m and until leaving the 600m, was steadied from heels on a number of occasions. BULLION BOY – Bumped heavily by NORTHERN PRIDE at the start. Steadied leaving the 600m when racing keenly. Rider M Murphy was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out to the end of the race, where possible. NORTHERN PRIDE – Shifted in on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages. MISS TAMBO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. YES TO EXCESS – Began awkwardly. NOBLE BEAUTY – Passing the 250m, had difficulty obtaining clear running between BRAVE MASO and NORTHERN PRIDE and then raced in restricted room over the final 150m.
