Race 1: DOUBTLAND 1ST YEARLINGS SELLING 2024 @WIDDENSTUD QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
MISHANI BRAZILIAN – Began awkwardly.
ROCKRATA – Blundered shortly after the start.
CHERRY LIPS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When placed under pressure approaching the 200m, shifted in obliging the rider to stop riding and correct her mount before improving onto heels, and shifting out to obtain clear running. Raced greenly for the remainder of the event.
MISHANI CROWN – Difficult to load and delayed the start. Trainer L. Ross was advised a warning will be placed on the filly for its barrier manners. Laid out approaching the first turn.
MISHANI INVINCIBLE – Over raced in the early stages of the event.
MISHANI STYLE – Performed poorly and tired over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MISHANI SUNSET – Began awkwardly.
Race 2:ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS ON SALE NOW CLASS 1 PLATE 1050M
CHASETON – Momentarily laid in rounding the home turn.
WHISKY DREAM – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
BERNMARK – A pre-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion above the off-side nostril and was subsequently cleared to start. Jockey M. Harley reported that in his opinion the mare did not handle the track conditions.
Race 3: KOBAYASHI AT AQUIS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M
Prior to the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8.
LOVEWILLCOMELATER – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Over raced in the early stages of the event. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MISTER HEMSWORTH (IRE) – Trainer J. Bruce advised a change of tactics, to settle further forward in the field. Very slow to begin, consequently settled at the rear of the field. Improved onto heels leaving the 800m and was steadied. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, Jockey B. Thompson stated that after beginning slowly MISTER HEMSWORTH (IRE) was obliged to race in a rear ward position, and was unsuited by the slow pace in the early stages of the race, however was not overly disappointed with its performance.
FREE CARRY – Inconvenienced on jumping and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages of the event. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
KITEMA – Hampered shortly after the start.
OCEAN HONOUR – Over raced in the early stages of the event.
Race 4: SKY RACING FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M
AQUA ROSA – Slow to begin. Bumped on a number of occasions approaching the home turn by LEITZEL when that runner shifted out to improve.
AMAZING JOURNEY – Laid in over the concluding stages of the event.
FRIEND IN NEED – Bumped on jumping.
KAHRABA – Laid in over the concluding stages of the event.
LEITZEL – Trainer C. Waller advised a change of tactics, to settle in a forward position. Began awkwardly, bumped and then settled further back in the field than anticipated.
HELLUVA SOIREE – After passing the winning post, was tightened between MIDNIGHT SEAS and KAHRABA and shortly thereafter contacted the heels of KAHRABA. After inquiring into the incident, Stewards noted that passing the winning post, MIDNIGHT SEAS shifted very marginally, whilst KAHRABA laid in and shifted in and away from AMAZING JOURNEY despite the efforts of its rider. Stewards noted that AMAZING JOURNEY also laid in which contributed to this incident. Whilst noting the circumstances, Stewards reminded all riders to be mindful and take appropriate measures to prevent their mounts from shifting ground after the post.
LADY SHOTGUN – Slow to begin. Held up from the home turn to the 200m.
MIDNIGHT SEAS – Began awkwardly.
OBSIDIAN ROSE – At the start restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position near the rail. Near the 250m improved onto the heels of HELLUVA SOIREE and momentarily steadied.
Race 5: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2240M
LATELY (NZ) – Held up approaching the home turn.
LUCKY EXCHANGE – Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn when CLASSIC DEEL shifted in. Shortly thereafter improved onto heels and was steadied.
GULF OF SAROS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1200m left a rear ward trailing position and raced wide from that point.
SKYLON (NZ) – Trainer C. Waller advised a change of tactics, to roll forward and settle on the speed. Ridden accordingly.
CLASSIC DEEL – M. Eggleston, stable representative for K. Lees, was advised that as a pre-race blood sample was unable to obtained from the mare, CLASSIC DEEL would be stood down from competition pursuant to AR20(d) until such time a blood sample can be taken at either a race-meeting or trial. Stewards when considering the matter permitted the mare to start today. A post-race urine sample was taken for analysis. Began awkwardly. Held up approaching the home turn.
THE LOVE ROCKET – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on the near hind leg. THE LOVE ROCKET was subsequently treated by the on-course veterinarian. Jockey R. Dolan was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip six (6) times prior to the 100m, one (1) more than permitted.
BELLA TIVACI (NZ) – Near the 1300m was forced wider when CLASSIC DEEL shifted away from the rail. Approaching the 250m was bumped on the hind quarters and turned inwards.
ONLY LOVE (NZ) – Trainer C. Waller advised a change of tactics, to settle just off the speed. Ridden accordingly. Raced keenly early. Raced in restricted room to the inside of IRIDESSA (NZ) between the 1650m and the 1500m. T. Banks, rider of IRIDESSA (NZ), was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding and allowing his mount to shift in near the 1600m crowding ONLY LOVE (NZ). Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m when SKYLON (NZ) shifted out to improve. Checked approaching the 250m. At a subsequent inquiry A. Mallyon, the rider of CLASSIC DEEL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 250m, whilst riding his mount along, permitted his mount to shift wider, causing ONLY LOVE (M. Du Plessis) being taken outwards and contacting the hind quarters of BELLA TIVACI (D. Thornton), which was turned inwards at that point, resulting in ONLY LOVE having to be checked by its rider and lose ground. A. Mallyon's license to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight Saturday 25th of November 2023 and to expire midnight Monday 4th of December 2023.
IRIDESSA (NZ) – After being caught wide was allowed to stride forward by its rider and reach a position outside the leader passing the 1100m. Commenced to weaken from the 400m.
Race 6: LADBROKES LIVE BETTING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1660M
BANDIT – Raced wide throughout.
FINSCEAL – Slow to begin. Rider M. Harley reported post-race that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated today’s track conditions and proved disappointing in the run to the finish.
MOKTAFFY (IRE) – At the start restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position near the rail.
TALK TIME – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, R. Maloney stated the gelding was inclined to over race in the middle stages of the event and proved disappointing in the run to the finish. Trainer L. Hatch advised that it was now his intention to send the TALK TIME for a spell.
BINDING – Apprentice C. Graham reported her mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
FLEUR DU MONDE – Trainer C. Waller advised a change in tactics, to settle near just off the speed. Settled midfield.
SPIRIT’S CHARM – Neat the 1200m whilst racing keenly improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
TEXAS STORM – Approaching the home turn, when tiring, raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of TALK TIME and ROCKIN' ARTIE which shifted out slightly.
Race 7: BRC ASCOT SUNSETS SERIES BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1110M
TRAMONTO – Laid in over the concluding stages.
GEE BEE ESS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
ISLAND MAGIC – Laid out approaching the finishing line and bumped with TARPS.
RADIANT REMI – Raced wide for the majority.
PACIFIC PADRINO – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and bumped with TARPS.
TARPS – Raced wide for the majority. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bumped approaching the finishing line.
