Race 1: ANDERS 1ST YEARLINGS SELLING 2024 @WIDDENSTUD 2YO HANDICAP         1200 M
 
HEAD HONCHO – Leaving the 800m, raced very ungenerously and shifted in. Raced greenly throughout and when placed under pressure in the home straight was inclined to lay in, obliging its rider to stop and correct his mount on several occasions. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CUTTING EDGE – Slow to begin. Raced very keenly in the early stages before steadying from the heels of HEAD HONCHO near the 800m. Continued to over race for some distance. Co-Trainer M. Sears reported the colt would now be sent for a spell and would consider gelding prior to resuming.
 
MISHANI HERCULES – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being kicked on route to the barriers and was deemed a late scratching at 12:02pm on veterinary advice. MISHANI HERCULES also underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Ross was asked to report back to Stewards in the subsequent days should something arise. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on MISHANI HERCULES be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – MISHANI ALOHA 4c win, 5c place.
2nd – HEAD HONCHO 6c place.
3rd – MISHANI EXPRESS 7c place.
 
MISHANI EXPRESS – When attempting to restrain for cover near the 1000m, raced greenly. Bumped with VALOROUS PERFORMER near the 300m. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 50m after being contacted by VALOROUS PERFORMER.
 
VALOROUS PERFORMER – Bumped with MISHANI EXPRESS near the 300m. Over the concluding stages was obliged to steady when racing in restricted room between MISHANI EXPRESS and HEAD HONCHO which laid out. When questioned regarding the performance of VALOROUS PERFORMER, Jockey J. Stanley reported the filly travelled well in the early and middle stages however when asked for an effort on straightening, failed to let down and in his opinion may not have handled the heavy track conditions.
 
PIERATA'S GEM – Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.
 
UNDER THE SHADOW – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
Race 2: NOVA 106.9 THE EAGLE WAY         2000 M
 
Prior to the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft 7.
 
ENCODER – Began awkwardly and shifted out. When asked to comment on the performance of ENCODER, Jockey D. Thornton reported the gelding may not have appreciated todays track conditions and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
FELIX THE SCAT – Bumped near the 50m. Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and take up a forward position passing the 1400m.
 
MORE TROUBLE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid in near the 50m and bumped with FELIX THE SCAT. Jockey C. Bayliss was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip seven (7) times prior to the 100m, two (2) more than permitted.
 
SHY GUY – Connections advised a change in tactics, will attempt to lead if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
RED DEFCON – Jockey S. Collett dropped her whip approaching the finishing line.
 
WINSOME STAR – Between the 1600m and 1400m was inclined to over race.
 
HUSSY EMPRESS – Laid in before being corrected passing the 600m.
 
BILPA MOREA (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 3: XXXX COUNTRY STAMPEDE (FINAL) NO METRO WINS LAST 2 YEARS     1110 M
 
COCHRANE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISTER LARRABEE – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised a warning will be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners.
 
JAMESATELLI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
UNRESTRICTED – Raced keenly in the early stages and proved difficult to settle.
 
GOSSIP TORQUE – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Approaching the 100m was momentarily inconvenienced and had to be directed off the heels of I AM FEARLESS which shifted out under riding. Jockey K. Zechner rider of I AM FEARLESS was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mount when shifting ground in future.
 
I AM FEARLESS – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out in the straight.
 
HALLSIDE HAMMER – Raced wide throughout.
 
ENTREPRENEURIAL – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail. Approaching the home turn, bumped on the hind quarters when laying in. Raced wide throughout.
 
FANAAR (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced for a short distance leaving the 800m. Near the 700m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of MAHBABY.
 
MAHBABY – Near the 700m obliged to steady from heels.
 
 

 
 
Race 4: MAGIC MILLIONS PIERATA PLATE 1200 M
 
MISHANI RENEGADE – Began moderately and hampered shortly thereafter.
 
ACRES AWAY – Bumped on jumping.
 
DEFIANT SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 1000m was bumped and taken in by TOWN CRIER.
 
DEEP RESPECT – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 1000m raced in restricted room to the inside of SPIRIT OF MAC which momentarily laid in before being corrected. Shortly thereafter was bumped and shifted wider.
 
ADDRIEL – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide throughout. Jockey D. Thornton reported the gelding may not have appreciated todays racing surface.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of a poor post-race recovery.
 
RISKY INVESTMENT – Bumped near the 1000m and became unbalanced. Over raced in the middle stages of the event.
 
TOWN CRIER – Near the 1000m bumped with DEFIANT SPIRIT and became unbalanced.
 
Race 5: COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE (FINAL) NO METRO WINS LAST 2 YEARS     1600 M
 
Prior to the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.
 
OFFICE JIM – Passing the 1200m when the pace of the race slackened had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of CENTAUR.
 
VINASTA – Raced wide throughout.
 
STAMPEDE WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages of the event.
 
FIRE KING – Passing the 250m was obliged to alter course when momentarily after improving onto the heels of ART BY CONCORDE.
 
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
CENTAUR – Near the 1400m obliged to steady from the heels of OFFICE JIM which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey L. Tilley was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
SUCH A WHIT – Near the 1400m obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at the heels of ART BY CONCORDE which was carried in by ECHO POINT. Jockey D. Ballard was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
VIVENZO – Slow to begin.
 
ANCIENT ECHOES – Raced wide throughout. Passing the 1300m commenced to over race and momentarily shifted wider.
 
Race 6: ROKU GIN TAILS STAKES      1600 M
 
DUNE FORTY FIVE – Raced wide throughout.
 
LOVE TAP – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
COULDN'T REFUSE – Bumped on jumping. Near the 1450m became awkwardly placed on the heels of TOJAKI. Jockey J. Bayliss, rider of TOJAKI was advised to exercise greater care when crossing. Became awkward at the heels of WITHOUT REVENGE (GB) which shifted in when insufficiently clear obliging Jockey K. Matheson to steady from its heels. Jockey M. Du Plessis, rider of WITHOUT REVENGE (GB) was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
OCEAN TREATY (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
WHISKY WISDOM – Cast near hind plate.
 
TOJAKI – Over raced in the middle stages of the event. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
Race 7:CHANNEL 7 MODE STAKES   1200 M
 
MISHANI ROYALE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting clinical signs of a poor post-race recovery. Trainer L. Ross was advised to report back to Stewards in the subsequent days should something arise, which may have affected the filly’s performance.
 
TAORMINA – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting clinical signs of a poor post-race recovery. Co-Trainer A. Bott was advised to report back to Stewards in the subsequent days should something arise, which may have affected the filly’s performance.
 
SHE'S A ROGUE – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m was taken wider when INSTAGOOD was taken out slightly by KEYBOARD.
 
WEST OF DALBY – Began awkwardly, then bumped and lost ground. Near the 450m momentarily held up at the heels of MISS COOTA.
 
INSTAGOOD – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
CERTAINLYCAN – After exiting the parade area, made contact with a section of the rail, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
GREYZOUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
Race 8:LADBROKES GEORGE MOORE STAKES         1200 M
 
BALLER – Difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.
 
THE BIG GOODBYE – Began awkwardly.
 
NETTUNO – Bumped on jumping. Over raced in the early stages of the event.
 
VINCO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
DEEPOUR – Near the 300m obliged to steady from the heels of BALLER which shifted out when not fully clear. Jockey J. Orman rider of BALLER was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Improved onto heels of NETTUNO approaching the winning post and had to be steadied.
 
Race 9:VALE WAYNE PURCHASE OPEN HANDICAP         2000 M
 
KNIGHT'S CHOICE – Held up rounding the home turn before shifting wider to obtain clear running passing the 300m.
 
QUALITY TIME (GER) – Connections advised a change in tactics, to attempt to settle in a forward position if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
HEAD OF STATE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stable representative B. Killion for Chris Waller Racing was asked to report back to Stewards in the subsequent days should something arise.
 
SOUTHERN STOCK (NZ) – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KNIGHT'S CHOICE which shifted in. Jockey J. Lloyd was reprimanded for carless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.  
 
RED WAVE – Bumped on jumping. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
 
SAVVY LEGEND (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, became awkwardly placed on the heels of SNEAK PREVIEW and was obliged to restrain.
 
SNEAK PREVIEW – Connections advised a change in tactics, to attempt to be ridden on pace if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced wide until reaching a position outside the leader passing the 1400m.
 
FLYING JOY – Bumped on jumping. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the winning post on the first occasion. Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
SET ME UP – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail.
 
 

 
Race 10:AQWA CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 6 PLATE         1350 M
 
AUSSIE NUGGET (IRE) – Slow to begin.
 
COCOBREW EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. Trainer R. Tyrell was reprimanded pursuant to AR106 for presenting to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear.  
 
MANHOOD – When questioned regarding the performance of MANHOOD Apprentice B. Wheeler reported his mount weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of a poor post-race recovery. Apprentice B. Wheeler was reprimanded under the provisions of LR48 for leaving the course without seeking approval.
 
ALBURQ – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 150m.  
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE DROVER – Near the 800m obliged to steady from the heels of THE FACE which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey B. Thompson rider of THE FACE was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
DRIVE A DEEL – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail.
 
BOODUA ROMANCE – Began very awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 150m was hampered by KIPLING’S JOUNRNEY which shifted out.
 
STARZAM – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
TOO HARD TO REFUSE – Began awkwardly, shortly thereafter buffeted between runners. Raced in restricted room passing the 200m to the inside of COCOBREW EXPRESS. Rider K. Matheson was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out to the finish when circumstance permit in future.
