Race 4: CASCADE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1350 M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, R. Maloney, rider of second place getter BETTERLETMEDANCE lodged a protest alleging interference in the home straight against first place getter, TORQUE I TEE, ridden by Apprentice B. Wheeler. After considering evidence from all parties and viewing the race footage, Stewards determined that whilst there was interference leaving the 300m resulting in BETTERLETMEDANCE being tightened for racing room and being inconvenienced, this was a result of THE PLAYER shifting out and contacting BETTERLETMEDANCE. Stewards further determined that TORQUE I TEE did shift in over the final 50m and brush with BETTERLETMEDANCE, however when considering the long head margin, and the proximity of the incident to the finish of the race, Stewards could not be satisfied to grounds of the objection could be upheld and declared correct weight on the judge’s placings.

Wilson-Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 24/12/2023 up to and including midnight 5/1/2024.
