GENERAL
 
As R. Maloney was not riding for acceptable reasons, he was replaced by R. Dolan as the rider of ARISPHERE (Race 2), J. Orman as the rider of JUNGLE PRINCE (Race 5) and GRANITE PRINCE (Race 7) and B. Thompson as the rider of SNOW BOUM (Race 6).
 
Prior to the running of Race 1, the track was upgraded to a Soft 7 at 11:30am noting the 1350m chute remains a Heavy 9.
 
Race 1: GIRLS DAY OUT ON SALE NOW QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to REVITUP CHARLIE requiring to be resaddled at the barriers.
 
RISKY INVESTMENT – Slow to begin. RISKY INVESTMENT underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of Trainer R. Tyrell and was found to be exhibiting signs of a poor post-race recovery.
 
SER JOH – Laid out rounding the home turn. Near the 200m when tiring, was bumped by REVITUP CHARLIE. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Harley reported he was satisfied where the gelding settled in running and noted whilst SER JOH was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn, it proved disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight and did not let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of a poor post-race recovery.
 
BUTT HEADS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in approaching the 200m.
 
REVITUP CHARLIE – Near the 200m, shifted in and away from BUTT HEADS which laid in marginally and bumped with SER JOH.
 
Race 2: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW MAIDEN PLATE 1050M
 
LA PETITE MAISON – Approaching the 100m, taken out slightly by CAXTON LASS.
 
PINKUS – Leaving the 100m, momentarily steadied from the heels of LA PETITE MAISON which was taken out by CAXTON LASS. Jockey M. Harley was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
ARISPHERE – Hampered shortly after the start when PINKUS shifted out.
 
SO IT BEGINS – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on, its off-hind leg and was subsequently treated on-course.
 
STARSPANGLE PLANET – Began awkwardly. Commenced to yield ground approaching the home turn before being beaten by a considerable margin. Trainer T. Churchill was advised a metropolitan bar will be placed on the mare until such time its form improves to the requisite city standard.
 
ANTONITO (NZ) – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
CAXTON LASS – Hampered shortly after the start when INTRECCIATO shifted in slightly before being corrected. Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m. Laid out over the final stages.
 
INTRECCIATO – Raced wide for the majority and greenly throughout. Raced keenly near the 600m when attempted to restrain for cover.  
 
Race 3:SKY RACING BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1660M
 
PATMOS ISLAND – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
THE CATCH – After being caught wide in the early part of the event, was allowed to stride forward and position outside the leader approaching the 800m.
 
LE HEROS– Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer P. Duncan was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting a horse to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear.
 
MOKTAFFY (IRE) – Slow to begin.
 
A BIG CHANCE – Slow to begin.
 
IRISH SALLY – Slow to begin.
 
PRICKLY POPPY (NZ) – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey M. Harley stated from the wide barrier he was obliged to settle further back than he had anticipated. He further added the mare proved disappointing and thought it may not have appreciated todays track conditions.
 
WHISKY DREAM – Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer K. Kemp was advised that the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
TOBA – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 4: CASCADE CLASS 4 HANDICAP      1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to PLUNDERING’s near fore plate requiring to be re-shod and undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers.
 
PLUNDERING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was subsequently cleared to race. Began awkwardly and shifted out.  Raced keenly between the 850m and 500m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination at request of the Stable revealing no apparent abnormalities.
 
PRIME ASSET – Began awkwardly. Held up in the early part of the home straight until a point approaching the 200m.
 
MAJORELLE – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
MENARI MAGIC – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight before bumping with UNCLE BUD on a number of occasions leaving the 300m.
 
UNCLE BUD – Bumped on a number of occasions in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE         1350M
 
DISCOVER (NZ) – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position nearer to the rail. Approaching the 200m, obliged to shift across the heels of MOSZUR to secure clear running.
 
ELROY – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
JUNGLE PRINCE (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
 
ON THE TIGHTROPE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with JUNGLE PRINCE (NZ). Leaving the 1000m after restraining for cover, improved onto heels when the pace of the race slackened before over racing and shifting wider on the course. Raced wide for the remainder. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  
 
BLISS MISS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
CAESAR CAKE – Trainer G. Heinrich was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
 
MOSZUR – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Improved onto heels approaching the 600m when over racing and subsequently steadied. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHEKINAH – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position nearer to the rail.
 
Race 6: XXXX GOLD CLASS 1 PLATE 1350M
 
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Began very awkwardly and shifted in bumping with GRIPPING. Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened.
 
GRIPPING – Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost significant ground. Held up rounding the home turn and was unable to secure clear running until leaving the 150m.
 
SENESCHAL (IRE) – Raced wide. Laid out under pressure leaving the 200m bumping ZAKIYYA.
 
THE WELLIAN – Bumped on jumping.
 
THE BOI – Bumped on jumping. Raced in restricted room near the 600m and bumped with VICTORIA ROC (NZ).
 
THE PLAYER – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping SPIRIT OF GIVING. Raced very greenly, became unbalanced approaching the 200m when placed under pressure before brushing VICTORIA ROC (NZ) and momentarily shifting wider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of mild heat stress and a poor post-race recovery.
 
PETERSHAM – Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened.
 
SNOW BOUM – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with PETERSHAM.
 
ZAKIYYA – Near fore plate re-shod in the tie up stalls prior to the running of the race.  Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with PETERSHAM. Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace of the race slackened. Bumped near the 200m when SENESCHAL (IRE) laid out under pressure.
 
VICTORIA ROC (NZ) – Lost near-hind plate in running. Bumped near the 600m when racing in restricted room.
 
SPIRIT OF GIVING– Tightened shortly after the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight. Laid in over the final 100m.
 
Race 7: LADBROKES LIVE BETTING BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP  1350M
 
AVENUE OF STARS – Raced wide. When asked to comment on the horse settling further back than anticipated, Apprentice Y. Lewis stated after beginning moderately she was reluctant to overly pressure AVENUE OF STARS in the early stages as it can have a tendency to over race. She added that the gelding was first up for six (6) weeks today and as the horse can over race, she was obliged to restrain further back than anticipated in order to obtain cover.
 
SWANSTON – Began awkwardly. Laid in approaching the home turn before being corrected and again rounding the home turn. Trainer G. Kilner was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding for its racing manners.

SELF INDULGENT– Bumped heavily on the hind quarters on jumping and became unbalanced.
 
BOLD PEDRO – Began awkwardly.
 
VELVET HAZE – Severely buffeted between runners and lost ground. Lost off-fore plate in running. When asked to comment on the mare’s performance, Jockey A. Mallyon reported he felt that it may have come to the end of its preparation and proved disappointing. Stable Representative M. Eggleston reported it was now his intention to send the mare for a spell.
 
WOLF MOON – Severely buffeted between runners and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
GRANITE PRINCE – Began very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.
 
MOONAN ME – Slow to begin and hampered between runners. Approaching the home turn, was hampered when racing in restricted room to the inside of SWANSTON which laid in and again rounding the home turn.
