SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Sunshine Coast 11th of May 2024
Race 5: AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB TROPHY 1200 M
Trainer T. Gollan reported that he was pleased with NETTUNO’s post-race recovery and that the gelding had undergone an endoscopic examination on the days following the event with no abnormalities detected, adding that in his opinion NETTUNO may not have appreciated the heavy track and kick back on the day.
 
Race 7: TAB A.D. HOLLINDALE STAKES 1800 M
Trainer’s representative T. Pollard advised that he was pleased with JIMI HENDRIX and NAVAL COLLEGE’s post-race recovery and in his opinion, both geldings may not have appreciated the track conditions on the day. He further added that the stable will continue with JIMI HENDRIX and NAVAL COLLEGE’s preparations.
 
 
GENERAL
 
All runners in the Spirit of Boom Classic and the Doomben 10,000 underwent veterinary inspections on Friday 17th of May 2024 and were cleared to race.
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights –
 
Race 7: M. Harley +0.5kg (55kg)
Race 7: A. Mallyon +0.5kg (54.5kg)
 
As Jockey R. Maloney was not riding due to personal reasons, changes were made as per the race day summary.
 
 
Race 1: U&U RECRUITMENT CLASS 6 HANDICAP         1600 M
 
FIFTH POSITION (IRE) – Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 100m and was obliged to shift out to improve.
 
RISING PACIFIC (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey J. Kah reported that her mount settled further back than anticipated and over raced. She further added that RISING PACIFIC (NZ) laid in under pressure in the home straight and may not have appreciated todays racing conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan advised that the stable will report back to Stewards on the condition of the gelding in the coming days.
 
BASARWA (NZ) – Bumped at the start.
 
EVOCATOR – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TENZING (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
REDWOOD SHADOW (NZ) – Stewards accepted the reason for the late rider declaration.Raced wide for the majority.
 
SUNSET SOIREE – Slow to begin.
 
ROLLER COASTER (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
Race 2:THE STAR BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
ANG POW – Race wide for the majority.
 
SUNFALL – Slow to begin.
 
TICK TOCK QUEEN – Shortly after the start, clipped the heels of BOWRIDER and blundered. Jockey D. Thornton the rider of BOWRIDER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) that in the vicinity of the 1300m, allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of TICK TOCK QUEEN, and as a result of this shift TICK TOCK QUEEN clipped heels and blundered. Jockey D. Thorntons licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight the 22nd of May 2024 and conclude midnight the 29th of May 2024. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
OUTLAWED – Slow to begin.
 
SPACE TRACKER (IRE) – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Passing the 100m raced in restricted room.
 
WARBY – Race wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
BLAKMAX - Race wide for the majority.
 
BOWRIDER – Passing the 150m, was momentarily inconvenienced after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of BLACKMAX.
 
CENTRE BOUNCE – Jockey R. Dolan dropped his whip near the 180m.
 
Race 3: MORETON HIRE 3YO PLATE (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE) 1350 M
 
CHRYSAOR – Raced wide with cover for the majority. When racing in restricted room, passing the 900m, was obliged to steady when ABOUNDING shifted in.
 
ROBRICK – Leaving the 200m was crowded for room.
 
AMUR – When questioned regarding the improved performance of AMUR in today’s event, Trainer J. Cummings advised that AMUR had recently been gelded and had been pleasing in it’s work leading up to today’s event.  
 
RAZORS – Passing the 200m, was obliged to shift in, to improve into clear running. Over the final 50m, raced in restricted room and was unable to be fully tested to the finishing line.
 
PANIC (NZ) - Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that he could offer no explanation for the poor performance of PANIC (NZ) today.  A post- race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards intend on speaking with Trainer M. Freedman regarding the gelding’s recovery in the coming days and future racing plans.
 
ACID WASH – Leaving the 1200m, clipped the heels of ABOUNDING and blundered. Jockey M. Harley the rider of ABOUNDING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that in the vicinity of the 1200m, allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ACID WASH, and as a result of this shift ACID WASH clipped heels and blundered. Jockey M. Harleys licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight the 19th of May 2024 and concluding midnight the 28th of May 2024. Held up for clear running from the 300m until approaching the 100m. Passing the 150m, was obliged to restrain off the heels of CHRYSAOR. Raced wide with cover for the majority.
 
ABOUNDING - Raced wide for the majority.
 
AERIAL DANCER – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
 
Race 4: JRA CHAIRMAN'S HANDICAP         2000 M
 
KING FRANKEL (IRE) - Raced wide for the majority.
 
NEW ENDEAVOUR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of heat stress.
 
DENY KNOWLEDGE (IRE) – Laid out in the early stages. Jockey J. Kah reported that in her opinion DENY KNOWLEDGE (IRE) travelled well during the early and middle stages, however, was under pressure from the 600m and attributed the disappointing performance to today’s racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Kent stated that he agreed with comments of Jockey J. Kah and would report back to Stewards on the condition of the mare in the coming days.
 
KUKERACHA (NZ) – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that from the 800m when asked for an effort, KUKERACHA (NZ) failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia. Trainer representative Mr. B. Killion was advised that KUKERACHA (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG and must also barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.  
 
DUNE FORTY FIVE – Raced wide for the majority.  
 
LONDON BANKER (NZ) - Raced wide from the 800m.
 
REGAL LION (NZ) - Raced wide for the majority.
 
CAPRICE DES DIEUX (FR) – Whilst laying in, was steadied from the heels of QUEENMAKER, which had commenced to yield ground from the 600m.  
 
QUEENMAKER – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
 
Race 5: SKY RACING MEMBERS' HANDICAP         1600 M
 
DESERT ICON (FR) – A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative B. Killion reported that in his opinion DESERT ICON (FR) would be better suited to further distance, however, would derive benefit from todays run.
 
TERRITORY EXPRESS – Slow to begin.
 
NIKAU SPUR (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
GRINGOTTS (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
BROOKHAVEN – Steadied from heels passing the 1400m when the pace slackened. Continued to over-race in the early stages.
 
 
Race 6:SPIRIT OF BOOM CLASSIC    1200 M
 
HEAVENLY IMPACT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BOSUSTOW – Bumped at the start. Jockey N. Rawiller reported that his mount failed to respond to his efforts in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative T. Pollard advised that the stable will report back to Stewards on the condition of the colt in the coming days.
 
ANGEL CAPITAL – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. In the vicinity of the 300m, was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of EL MORZILLO, which shifted out to improve.
 
RICH DOTTIE – Bumped at the start. Jockey T. Clark reported that in his opinion the filly raced flat in today’s event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Begg advised that he was disappointed with the performance of RICH DOTTIE and will report back to Stewards on the condition of the filly in the coming days.
 
 
Race 7:MAGIC MILLIONS BRIGHT SHADOW         1110 M
 
PARISAL– Jockey J. McDonald reported that in his opinion the mare may not have appreciated todays track conditions and additional weight. Trainer J. Cummings advised that upon return to the stables, PARISAL displayed signs of the thumps.
 
EKATERIN – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Harley reported that in his opinion EKATERIN may not have appreciated todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CHINNY BOOM – Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount may not have appreciated todays track conditions and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps.
 
JAJA CHABOOGIE - Raced wide for the majority.
 
TIGER SHARK - A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer N. McCall commented that she could offer no explanation for the poor performance of TIGER SHARK in today’s event and would report back to Stewards on the condition of the filly in the coming days.
 
AUREUS ANGEL - Raced wide for the majority.
 
ENTERPRISE POMME – Raced wide for the majority.
 
RED RUBI – Slow to begin. On entry to the home straight, had to be steadied off the heels of XTRAVAGANT STAR.
 
RUSSIAN ALLIANCE - Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BLUE SPINEL – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8:LADBROKES DOOMBEN 10,000     1200 M
 
I WISH I WIN (NZ) – Shortly after the start, shifted out and bumped WEE NESSY.
 
PRIVATE EYE – Bumped at the start.
 
BODY BOB – Bumped at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BELLA NIPOTINA – Slow to begin. Near the 900m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied before shifting out, causing STEFI MAGNETICA to be carried wider. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
ESPIONA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WEE NESSY – Shortly after the start, was bumped heavily between I WISH I WIN (NZ) which shifted out and STEFI MAGNETICA which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STEFI MAGNETICA – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that STEFI MAGNETICA would attempt to settle midfield if circumstances permit. Settled at the rear of the field. Shortly after the start, shifted in and bumped WEE NESSY. Near the 900m, was carried wider and had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of PRIVATE EYE. Approaching the 200m, was obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.

 
Race 9: SEVEN ROUGH HABIT PLATE        2000 M
 
MORE TROUBLE (NZ) – Trainer J. Bruce advised a change of tactics in that MORE TROUBLE (NZ) would attempt to be ridden forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
PRESS LINK (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
KIRIKAN (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
FELIX THE SCAT – Raced wide throughout.
 
LONG GENES – Began awkwardly.
 
PURVEYOR – Began awkwardly.
 
ICHIBAN - Passing the 400m was inconvenienced and obliged to steady when PURVEYOR shifted out.
 
MANNERHEIM – Lost its off-hind plate in running.
