SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Eagle Farm Saturday 1st June:
WARBY (Race 2) – Trainer T. Gollan advised that the gelding had pulled up well post-race and will continue with its current preparation as planned.
 
TUVALU (Race 7) – Trainer L Smith advised following an endoscopic examination, the gelding was found to have inflammation of its airway for which it has been treated, and that TUVALU would now be sent for a spell.
 
Doomben Wednesday 29th May:
NEW LEVEL (Race 8) – Jockey J Huxtable was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride NEW LEVEL out fully to the end of the race. In assessing penalty stewards were of opinion J Huxtable’s action did not affect the finishing position of NEW LEVEL, and also his very good record under this rule.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Trainer Paul Shailer was fined $200 under LR36(7)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor SCUD from its engagement in Race 8 by the prescribed time.
 
Apprentice M Castle pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 218(4)(b) in that she was found in possession of her mobile phone and smart watch whilst present in the female jockey’s room following the commencement of the race-meeting. Apprentice Castle was fined the sum of $300. In assessing penalty, Stewards considered her guilty plea and her record in relation to the rule. Apprentice Castle was advised of her appeal rights.
 
A number of riders provided swab samples during the course of the meeting.
 
 
Race 1: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
 
ANOTHERLOVELYDAY – Bumped at the start.
 
FLAMINGO BEACH – Raced keenly in the early stages when restrained to obtain cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the offside nostril.
 
HI JULES – Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped ANOTHERLOVELYDAY.
 
KELLISA – Jumped out at the start and bumped TRAPEDO. Leaving the 800m, when racing keenly, steadied from the heels of MOONFLEET and forced wider. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Raced wide throughout.  
 
MOONFLEET – Taken wider on the track leaving the 800m when HI JULES shifted out. E Lang, rider of MOONFLEET, was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 5th June up to and including 12th June 2024 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (16 in total).
 
PRINCESS KAGUYA – Change of tactics, further forward if circumstances permit. Slow to begin, settled in a midfield position.
 
TRAPEDO – Bumped at the start. Cast its near fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 2: CASCADE COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE      1350 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when SUPERZOOM underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers.
 
BINGHAMTON – Jumped out at the start and bumped DUKE OF LANCASTER. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HURACANEVO – Rider M Rodd reported the saddle on the horse shifted back on jumping placing him at some disadvantage for the majority of the event. Held up rounding the home turn until near the 200m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
READY TO THUNDER – Began awkwardly. Trainer P Kimmet was fined $100 under AR206(3) for presenting the gelding to race without a nose roll which is part of its advertised gear. Stewards subsequently permitted READY TO THUNDER to race without that piece of gear.
 
CHERBOURG – Rider B Thornton reported the gelding felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.  
 
DUKE OF LANCASTER – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly near the 800m shifted out and bumped EASTOWN. Raced wide for the majority.
 
EASTOWN – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ENESHI – Began awkwardly resulting in the gelding becoming unbalanced and losing ground.
 
KAREEM – Rider J Huxtable reported it was not his intention to settle in the leading position however after beginning well and with limited speed shown by runners drawn to the inside, he allowed the gelding to stride forward in the early stages.
 
SUPERZOOM – On arrival at the barriers, and at the request of the rider, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced in restricted room near the 1100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness over the back region. Trainer M Wilson was advised that SUPERZOOM would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Mr Wilson indicated he would now give consideration to spelling the gelding.
 
TUCK – Began awkwardly.Near the 1100m taken in, crowded for room, and steadied from the heels of KAREEM (J Huxtable) which shifted in when not fully clear. J Huxtable was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.Raced wide for the majority.
 
VICTORY MELODY – Trainer T Ranger was reprimanded under LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
 
BOSUSTOW – Crowded for room near the 1100m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
 
Race 3: STRADBROKE CALCUTTA 13 JUNE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
CAPTAIN FENKEL – Rider V Duric could offer no explanation for the disappointing perfromance other than that the gelding raced flat today.
 
SLIPPIN' JIMMY – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
CRYPTOSHARE – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers, sprawled on jumping, shifted out bumping BERTINELLI and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SCUD – Slow to begin. Rider A Mallyon reported it had been his intention to race in a more forward position however after beginning slowly SCUD settled towards the rear of the field.
 
MILITARY AWARD – Slow to begin. Raced keenly passing the 800m. Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
BRAVE AGENDA – Laid in passing the 600m and brushed the running rail. Continued to lay in until the entrance to the home straight.
 
BERTINELLI – Bumped at the start.
 
WAHINE GALAXY – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
Race 4: LADBROKES RACING CLUB FILLIES & MARES CLASS 3 PLATE (4YO ONLY QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE)   1200 M
 
SPIRIT QUEEN – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Raced wide with cover from the 800m.
 
CELESTIAL HARBOUR – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 700m.
 
SET TO SHINE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
SHOHEI – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 800m.Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 5:XXXX CLASS 1 HANDICAP     1110 M
 
PAYLINE – Leaving the 300m was taken inwards by FIRST PERSON and as a result contacted the hindquarters of SPIRITCHASER.
 
ZOUTHUR – Raced in restricted room near the 1000m when BEAU’S GIRL laid in.
 
SPIRITCHASER – Jumped out at the start and bumped LIQUER GOLD. Bumped on the hindquarters passing the 300m. Rider R Dolan was of the opinion the horse may have choked down during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
CASSIERE – Bumped on jumping.
 
FIRST PERSON – Leaving the 800m commenced to over-race and had to be eased from the heels of LIQUER GOLD.Continued to race keenly until passing the 600m.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the inside of the near foreleg.
 
BEAU'S GIRL – The saddle on the filly slipped to the near side on jumping placing its rider at disadvantage, and as a result BEAU’S GIRL laid in despite the efforts of B Wheeler until near the 800m.Laid in near the 250m and had to eased from the heels of ZOUTHUR.Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
BOOM BOOM BELLA – Held up from the entrance to the home straight until near the 200m.
 
DAINTREE DREAMING – Slow to begin.
 
LIQUEUR GOLD – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 300m steadied when racing in restricted room between PAYLINE (J Huxtable), which shifted out to improve and FIRST PERSON (A Mallyon), which shifted in. Both J Huxtable and A Mallyon were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.  
 
 
Race 6: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1640 M
 
CHASING JACKLEY – Checked at the start between SEA RIPPLE, which jumped out and APERTIVO, which was taken in by DISCERNING.Raced keenly for a short distance leaving the 1300m. Near the 250m was obliged to shift out in order to improve. Apprentice T Fenlon, rider of CHASING JACKLEY and in the presence of RQ apprentice mentor Mr R Fradd, was fined $100 under AR132(6)(b) for raising her arm above shoulder height when applying the whip in the home straight. In assessing penalty Stewards considered that apprentice T Fenlon’s had recently been cautioned by Stewards for raising her arm above shoulder height.
 
FIVE CROWNS – Slow to begin. Near the 300m momentarily steadied from the heels of SECURITY ADVISOR which shifted out.
 
SECURITY ADVISOR – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 300m became awkwardly placed at heels before shifting out to improve obliging FIVE CROWNS, which was racing to the outside and weakening, to be steadied from the heels. M Castle was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
EXTRAORDINAIRE – Caught wide in the early stages before obtaining a midfield position with cover near the 1200m.
 
SEA RIPPLE – Jumped out at the start.
 
PAIENBARA – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
SOCK'EMSID – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1200m.
 
APERITIVO – Taken in at the start.
 
DISCERNING – Jumped in at the start. Leaving the 300m momentarily steadied from the heels of APERTIVO.
 
REDWOOD SHADOW - Near the 400m improved onto the heels of APERTIVO and was momentarily steadied.
 
 
Race 7: WORLD POOL ON 15 JUNE COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 3 PLATE (4YO ONLY QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE)   1200 M
 
DAYTONA – Forced wider near the 700m when FENTON shifted out and obliged to race wide from that point onwards.
 
SPACE TRACKER – Began awkwardly.
 
FLAG HALL – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
BETTER BE NORDY – Became awkward in its stride approaching the winning post.
 
LUBRICATION – Slow to begin.
 
THE FIXER – Rider J Bayliss was harmlessly dislodged in the mounting enclosure when moving onto the track. When asked to comment rider J Bayliss could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
INLANDA – Hung out badly for the majority of the event, was uncompetitive and unable to be tested by its rider throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer S Lee was advised INLANDA must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
FENTON – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 8: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
CRANKY HARRY – Bumped with DRIALLE at the start. Commenced to over-race near the 1000m. Held up rounding the home turn until near the 300m. Rider J Molloy reported the gelding laid in under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.
 
COLLAY'S SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Bumped and taken wider on the rack near the 800m when I AM GOOD AT THIS shifted out after becoming awkwardly placed at heels. Obliged to race wide from that point on.
 
TANKER – Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.Lost its off-hind plate in running.
 
DENIED – Apprentice T Fenlon, rider of DENIED, was reminded of her obligations under AR131(d) when steading the pace of the race when leading.
 
DRIALLE – Bumped with CRANKY HARRY at the start.
 
I AM GOOD AT THIS – Began awkwardly.Near the 900m, when racing keenly, improved onto the heels of CRANKY HARRY, shifted out bumping COLLAY’S SPIRIT which became unbalanced and forced wider on the track.  
 
SMOKIN' TOFF – Slow to begin.
 
IRON GRACE – Near the 800m inconvenienced and steadied from the heels of COLLAY’S SPIRIT which was taken out at that point.
