Graham +1kgR7 – A. Mallyon +0.5kgR8 – J. Guthmann-Chester +0.5kg As Apprentice A. Donald was not riding at today’s meeting, Stewards permitted the rider changes as per the Race Day Summary. Race 1: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1350 M SAVOUR THE DREAM (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BELMONT PARK – Stewards gave permission for the late gear application for cheekers on BELMONT park. BELLA KHADIJAH – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DATA SCRAMBLE – Bumped after the start. MISHANI INVINCIBLE – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the middle stages. After the running of Race 1, the track was upgraded to a Good 4. Race 2: THE GIBSON CLASS 3 PLATE 1615 M MOUNT ZION – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer J. Dunn was advised the gelding would be stood down from racing pursuant to AR 79(4) for 3 months and must trial or gallop 1000m prior to its next start. NEVER GIVE UP – When asked to comment on today’s performance Jockey K. Zechner reported that in his opinion the gelding over raced throughout the event, diminishing its ability to finish off the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed to be lame in its off foreleg. REDENTE CHOICE – Obliged to steady passing the 1200m after improving onto heels. HAROLD THE GREAT (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 1500m. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. CHEVRON – Had to be restrained from heels whilst over racing passing the 1500m. Hampered passing the 600m when racing in restricted room. MADAME ODETTE – Restrained from a wide barrier to a rearward position. Momentarily inconvenienced rounding the home turn and had to shift wider to obtain clear running. NOTACLUEHOWORWHO – Restrained from a wide barrier to a rearward position. Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1350 M ANCIENT EGYPT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. READY AZZ EVA – Hampered after the start. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. THE INFLICTOR – Shifted out on jumping. CASROCK – Shifted in on jumping. KIND WISH (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping. Raced wide throughout. SUPER DUCK – Raced wide early until taking up a lead position near the 800m. ATOMIC SELFIE – Trainer I. Turner was fined $100 pursuant to LR36(7)(a) for failing to scratch a dual acceptor by the prescribed time. Bumped heavily after the start. STORMTROOPER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after backing up from Gatton 25/72024 and was subsequently cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. Race 4: MEKKA RACEDAY 17 AUGUST BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 2020 M DIABLO BOLT – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages, passing the 1500m was severely hampered by YET HE MOVES who had to take evasive action after the pace of the race slackened. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. MOTELL – Apprentice T. Fenlon reported at scale that the gelding was displaying a respiratory noise during the race and commenced to give ground from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer M. Nolan was advised MOTELL would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of results of an endoscopic examination prior to resuming. YET HE MOVES – Passing the 1500m, had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of COUNTER (GB) and as a result, was forced to shift wider after the pace of the race slackened, continued to over race for a short distance thereafter. Apprentice T. Fenlon was reminded of her obligations about excessively slowing the pace of the race. Raced wide for the remainder of the event. ARTFUL GIRL – Passing the 1500m, had to be steadied after the pace of the race slackened, continued to over race for a short distance thereafter. Passing the 700m, after shifting wider in an attempt to improve, raced in restricted room for a number of strides and after being awkwardly placed on heels, had to be restrained. CHASSAGNE – Slow to begin. IRON GRACE – Began awkwardly. COUNTER (GB) – As Jockey R. Maloney was unable to make the allocated weight, he was replaced by Jockey A. Mallyon. Jockey R. Maloney was fined $300 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Passing the 1500m, had to be steadied after the pace of the race slackened, continued to over race for a short distance thereafter. WORD FROM ABOVE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. FLASH PRINCE – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1500m, had to be steadied after the pace of the race slackened, continued to over race for a short distance thereafter. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 500m after BLUESTONE LANE commenced to weaken. Race 5: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW OPEN HANDICAP 1350 M IRISH SONGS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. ROUSSEAU – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 700m laid out rounding the home turn and became awkwardly placed at the heels of IRISH SONGS. THE VOWELS – As Jockey R. Maloney was unable to make the allocated weight, he was replaced by Jockey C. Graham. Jockey R. Maloney was fined $300 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Jockey C. Graham advised that her mount felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near foreleg. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised THE VOWELS would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Race 6: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 2020 M LORD ARDMORE (NZ) – Slow to begin. MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey S. Collett stated that in her opinion the gelding failed to run today’s distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. AVENUE OF STARS – Began awkwardly. TIDAL CREEK – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. ROGUE BEAR (IRE) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after arriving late on course and was subsequently cleared to start. THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Passing the 1600m raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of TIDAL CREEK. Raced wide until obtaining a leading position passing the 900m. TAVIS TOWN (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. SECURITY ADVISOR – Raced wide throughout. Race 7: LADBROKE IT! QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS HANDICAP 1200 M ADDRIEL – Trainer A. Neasham was reprimanded pursuant to LR36(7)(a) for failing to scratch a dual acceptor by the prescribed time. TOWN CRIER – Raced wide in the early stages before taking up a position in the rear end of the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. RIMBAUD – Bumped after the start. KING YOSHI – Bumped after the start. Over raced in the early and middle stages. MEAN APPROACH – Began awkwardly. Race 8:XXXX QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES HANDICAP 1200 M FIVE STAR VIXEN – Raced wide throughout. GREYZOUS – Bumped after the start. Jockey R. Maloney reported that his mount did not travel comfortably throughout the event and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Edmonds advised Stewards that GREYZOUS would now be going for a spell. ALLOW ME – Raced wide throughout. JOJO RABBIT – Shifted out on jumping. ROSE NOIR – Severely hampered after the start. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight between SALT LAKE BETTY and FIVE STAR VIXEN, as such was obliged to shift wider near the 200m into clear running. Jockey N. Beriman reported it was not her intention to settle so far back, however after being hampered after the start, she was obliged to settle further back in the field. SPIRITUAL SONG – When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey A. Jones reported her mount got its head up early and when obtaining cover, settled well during the middle stages but did not finish the race off as expected. She further added that in her opinion the horse may benefit from a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainers’ representative for T. Gollan was advised SPIRITUAL SONG would be require a veterinary clearance and trial satisfactorily prior to its next start. BEACHSIDE BABE – Bumped after the start. Jockey T. Fenlon reported her mount failed to respond to her riding in the early stages of the event. MISS SHA BLUE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. CALL ME SUPER – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Race 9: LADBROKES BLACKBOOK NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1200 M The start of this race was delayed when BOWRIDER became fractious in the barriers and broke through the front barrier partitions and became cast. BOWRIDER was declared a late scratching at 4:52pm on veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on BOWRIDER be refunded with the following deductions to apply:1st – I SEE YOU COMING – 10c win, 7c place2nd – BEAU WITNESS – 10c place3rd – CORFE CASTLE – 14c place Trainer J. Bellamy was advised that BOWRIDER would require a barrier certificate and veterinary clearance prior to its next start. BEAUX RUMBLE – Approaching the 800m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of BEAU WITNESS which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice S. Callow was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) and reminded of her obligations when shifting ground in future. VETTA VELOCITA – Slow to begin. BIG SHORT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. I SEE YOU COMING – Approaching the 100m, hampered and carried wider by BEAU WITNESS which shifted out under riding. Apprentice S. Callow was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mount when shifting ground in future. TRANQUIL BAY – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 200m. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides approaching the 100m. Passing the 50m, became awkwardly placed on heels and as a result was unable to be ridden to the line. BEAU WITNESS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice S.
