SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
As J Franklin was to be overweight in Race 4 (BETTER RAIN) and Race 5 (SISTINE EXPLORER) he was fined $300 under AR190(3). Riding changes were made as per the Raceday Summary sheet.
 
HOSTWIN SUPER was declared a late scratching at 11:41am by order of Stewards. Trainer J Moore was subsequently fined $400 under LR68(1) for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer D Grisedale was reprimanded under LR67(1) for the late declaration apprentice B Wheeler as the rider on BOW in Race 4.
 
 
Race 1: THE GIBSON MAIDEN PLATE 1110 M
 
SUENITO – Bumped at the start. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
SUPERSTITIOUS – Approaching the 800m checked after racing in restricted to the inside of LAMENTUM (R Maloney) which shifted in and away from ICED CHOCOLATE despite the efforts of its rider. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LAMENTUM – Jumped out at the start.
 
ICED CHOCOLATE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SUENITO.
 
LET'SSHOWEM – Slow to begin. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MIST OF DAWN – Jumped in at the start.
 
MORE FOR READY – Crowded on jumping between LAMENTUM and MIST OF DAWN, both of which shifted ground.Momentarily raced in restricted room near the 800m.
 
 
Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1110 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when BATE proved difficult to load.
 
BATE – Delayed start after proving difficult to load. Trainer H Richardson was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.Laid out under pressure over final 150m.
 
TICKLE MY TOSEN – Shortly after the start tightened between runners and lost ground. Raced greenly in the early stages of the event.
 
KOBABILITY – Jumped in at the start and bumped REVEILLON. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
REVEILLON – Bumped at the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Approaching the winning post shifted in under pressure resulting in rider M Rodd being obliged to stop riding for a number of strides. Rider M Rodd advised REVEILLON appeared to be striding short following the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
WYNETTE – Approaching the 800m turn over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover.
 
AUTUMNGIRL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 3: MEKKA RACEDAY 17 AUGUST CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1660 M
 
BUILLT – Near the 1400m raced in restricted room to the inside of DIACO and had to be steadied.Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FLASHING STEEL – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader near the 1000m. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY – Jumped in at the start and bumped KNIFE’S EDGE.
 
BEDFORD SQUARE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly and had to be steadied from heels near the 600m. Held up for clear running from the entrance to the home straight until near the 100m before shifting out across heels to secure clear running.
 
KNIFE'S EDGE – Bumped at the start and lost ground.
 
GOOGAZ – Laid in under repressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 4: BECOME A BRC MEMBER COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
BOW – Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m improved onto the heels of FLYING BIRDS and had to be steadied. Continued to over-race at heels until passing the 600m.
 
ALLEZ ZOU – Bumped at the start. Commenced to lay in under pressure from the 200m and when being corrected near the 100m, rider T Fenlon momentarily became unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed ALLEZ ZOU to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer C Munce was advised under AR79(4) the gelding would be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months and must trial satisfactorily or trial over 1000m prior to racing again.
 
BETTER RAIN – Began awkwardly.Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed BETTER RAIN to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer L Birchley was advised under AR79(4) the gelding would be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months and must trial satisfactorily or trial over 1000m prior to racing again.
 
FLYING BIRDS – Held up for clear running between the 200m until passing the 100m.
 
LA FAST TYCOON – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly over the final 150m when weakening. Rider J Orman reported the horse was obliged work hard in the early stages of the event and was also inclined to lay in throughout. Trainer J Bruce advised it was his intention to continue with the gelding’s current preparation however would now give LA FAST TYCOON a brief let up.
 
QUADE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ALLEZ ZOU.
 
 
Race 5: XXXX FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
HOOT 'N' HOLLER – Bumped and was checked at the start. Near the 200m, after shifting in and attempting to improve to the inside of POWER FLASH, had to be checked when BELLA BABE simultaneously shifted out after being disappointed for a run to the inside of SISTINE EXPLORER.
 
BELLA BABE – Disappointed for a run to the inside of SISTINE EXPLORER between the 300m and 200m before shifting out across the heels of SISTINE EXPLORER to secure clear running.
 
MISS EMMA – Declared a late scratching at 2:41pm after slipping over in the mounting enclosure and subsequently found to be lame in the near hind leg. Representative for trainer C Waller was advised MISS EMMA would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.   
 
ROSE BY DESIGN – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ANOTHER PEDRILLE – Taken out at the start, was checked after bumping SCARLETT THUNDER on the hindquarters.
 
FREEMAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 400m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Passing the 250m obliged to shift out across heels to improve.
 
POWER FLASH – Jumped out at the start and bumped HOOT’N’HOLLER.
 
SCARLETT THUNDER – Bumped shortly after the start on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Passing the 800m over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover behind POWER FLASH.
 
INTRECCIATO – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 6: EUREKA STUD QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1350 M
 
ESJAY – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MISS MIRIAM. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages when leading the event.
 
KING TARIK – Bumped with MISS MIRIAM in the early stages of the home straight.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
VIKING VALOUR – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
LADY SHOTGUN – Jumped in at the start and bumped REIGN OF POWER.
 
AERIAL BAY – Inclined to lay out for a short distance after the start. Rider E Lang reported the filly raced flat today and in her opinion may not have backed up from its most recent start at Doomben on 17th July.  Trainer T Gollan confirmed he would now seek to space the filly’s races going forward. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MISS MIRIAM – Bumped at the start. Bumped with KING TARIK in the early stages of the home straight.
 
REIGN OF POWER – Bumped at the start. Near the 600m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
TYPHOON TIP – Slow to begin. Approaching the winning post improved onto the heels of MISS MIRIAM which was inclined to lay in.
 
 
Race 7: U&U RECRUITMENT CLASS 1 PLATE 1350 M
 
AMERICAN PHIREBALL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Heavily contacted the running rail passing the winning post.
 
DENMARK – Bumped with LASQUETI BOOM at the start. Near the 200m held up and inconvenienced after improving onto the heels of the tiring SPARKLE MOTION.  Rider B Wheeler reported the gelding was inclined to lay out for the majority of the event and raced greenly at various stages of the race.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
YISHAY – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1100m.
 
COSTNER – Began awkwardly resulting in rider R Maloney becoming momentarily unbalanced.
 
MEAT PIE ARTIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LASQUETI BOOM – Bumped with DENMARK at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
PROPHETS DE'VINE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SUNSHINE HIGHWAY – Reared as start was effected, made heavy contact with the barrier partition resulting in rider N Beriman becoming unbalanced and losing significant ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
EL KABONG – Laid out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 8: LADBROKES EASY FORM CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes after AIN'T HE GRAND galloped a significant distance after dislodging rider R Maloney moving onto the track. AINT HE GRAND was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:33pm and on declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on the gelding to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st DEEP RESPECT – 4c win, 2c place
2nd QUOTHQUAN – 4c place
3rd MOOTESSA – 8c place
 
QUOTHQUAN – Near the 900m steadied from the heels of BILLIONAIR BABY which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
 
BELLA TIVACI – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
BILLIONAIR BABY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ADMONISH – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. Disappointed for a run near the 100m and obliged to steady.
 
PABALLO – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
