RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. AdamsStewards – G. Goold, P. Zimmermann, O. Legg, J. Robinson, P. Reardon. Race 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS HANDICAP 1110 M The start of this event was delayed after MR BUBBALUSKI proved difficult to load. Trainer J. Bruce was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for being difficult to load. HERBIE TOWN – Passing the 300m, slightly inconvenienced and carried wider when BARD OF AVON laid out when racing greenly. MR BUBBALUSKI – Trainer J. Bruce advised a change of tactics and MR BUBBALUSKI would attempt to lead if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly. Settled behind the leader. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 500m. BARD OF AVON – Began awkwardly. Laid out approaching the 300m despite the efforts of its rider. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. JUST CLIFFY – Shifted out on jumping and brushed KING POTTER. Passing the 300m, slightly inconvenienced and carried wider when BARD OF AVON laid out when racing greenly. KING POTTER – Bumped after the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Passing the 300m, slightly inconvenienced and carried wider when BARD OF AVON laid out when racing greenly. Laid out over the concluding stages. Following the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8 retrospectively to Race 1. Race 2: XXXX QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES HANDICAP 1110 M BARBIE'S SISTER – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Apprentice E. Lang stated that in her opinion the filly did not appreciate today’s track conditions and failed let down as expected. Trainer T. Gollan reported that it was now his likely intention to send BARBIE’S SISTER for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a poor post-race recovery and to be suffering from heat stress. KAHLISEE – Began awkwardly. VICTORY STATEMENT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported at scale that in his opinion the filly did not handle today’s heavy track conditions. MISHY – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure approaching the 100m. WYNETTE – Began awkwardly. Race 3: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY 7 SEPTEMBER BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2200 M ASGOODASSOBERGETS (FR) – Began awkwardly. TAPPY'S LAD (NZ) – Passing the 150m, became awkwardly placed on heels and had to be restrained after laying in and away from CLASSIC DEEL, which laid in, and SHY GUY which shifted out marginally. A short distance later was then obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running. ASHIM (FR) – Slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, raced keenly at heels when the pace of the race slackened. REDWOOD SHADOW (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Laid in over the concluding stages. CLASSIC DEEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ARTFUL GIRL – Shifted out under pressure approaching the 500m. Became awkwardly placed at heels approaching the 100m and had to shift in to improve. SHY GUY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative B. Killion said he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the following days. BRAVE DEEL – Raced wide until the 1500m. Raced in restricted room and had to be steadied whilst weakening leaving the 500m when ARTFUL GIRL shifted out. Apprentice M. Potgieter rider of ARTFUL GIRL was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. CHATEAUX PARK (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up on entering the home straight until approaching the 150m. Race 4: DRINKWISE CLASS 3 PLATE 1350 M I SEE YOU COMING – Approaching the 500m, shifted out to improve and bumped IVAN’S HERO. Laid in during the home straight. IVAN'S HERO – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Approaching the 500m, bumped and forced wider by I SEE YOU COMING which shifted out. Apprentice E. Lang rider of I SEE YOU COMING was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BILLIONAIR BABY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up during the early stages of the home straight and was obliged to shift wider. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CASTILLIAN (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 500m improved onto the heels of ORIENT’S SECRET. ORIENT'S SECRET – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inconvenienced and had to be steadied from the heels of IVAN’S HERO approaching the 500m when that runner was taken wider by I SEE YOU COMING. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m. QUOTHQUAN – Over raced in the early stages. Race 5: MORETON HIRE FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 M NANAGUI – Shifted in at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. BONCASSIE – Began awkwardly and was bumped shortly after. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Apprentice C. Bellamy reported that the mare failed to handle today’s track conditions. MISS MIDDLE PARK – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey A. Jones reported that the mare failed to handle today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. LENNIC – Shifted out on jumping. SISTINE EXPLORER – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. TRANQUIL BAY – Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 300m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of NANGUI and shifted out and bumped ANOTHER PEDRILLE. Obliged to alter course approaching the 250m. LADY WARDELL – Began awkwardly and was bumped by NANGUI. Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted out under pressure. YELLOWHAMMER – Bumped on the hind quarters after the start and became unbalanced. ANOTHER PEDRILLE – Began awkwardly and shortly afterwards shifted in and bumped YELLOWHAMMER. Approaching the 1100m, raced in restricted room when awkwardly placed at the heels of SISTINE EXPLORER which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Over raced in the middle stages. Bumped approaching the 300m. Following the running of Race 5, the track was upgraded to a Soft 7. Race 6: U&U RECRUITMENT COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 M DEFIANT SPIRIT – Shifted out at the start and bumped TUHINGA. SAFEWORK – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 100m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of BUGALUGS. TUHINGA – Hampered at the start. BUGALUGS – Shifted in at the start. MINTAKA LAD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. HURTS SO GOOD – Hampered at the start. Foreman for T. Gollan reported that it was now their likely intention to send the gelding for a spell. NAVAL TRADER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. DAYTONA – Shifted in on jumping and bumped TUHINGA. Approaching the 1000m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of DEFIANT SPIRIT. Race 7: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1350 M ROUSSEAU – Began awkwardly, resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced in his saddle. ROCKRIBBED – Shifted out at the start. PIZARRO – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 200m. VIMINELE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure approaching the 250m. ATLANTIC OCEAN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ZUMA CALIFORNIA – Raced wide throughout. Race 8: LADBROKE IT! CLASS 6 HANDICAP - WEIGHTS RAISED 0.5KG 1600 M WAIRERE FALLS (NZ) – Shifted out when awkwardly placed at heels approaching the 50m. MADAME ODETTE – Slow to begin. BOLD BOURBON (NZ) – Shortly after the start was carried in and became awkwardly placed at the heels of THE CATCH and had to be steadied. Over raced in the early stages. APPLECROSS – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. ASWAAT – Bumped approaching the 100m. Approaching the winning post, had to be steadied when tightened for room between MADAME ODETTE and THESECONDATPORTSEA which was taken out when awkwardly placed at the heels of WAIRERE FALLS. SIZZLING GAL – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. THE CATCH – Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m THESECONDATPORTSEA – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Over raced in the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Approaching the 100m, shifted out and bumped ASWAAT. Approaching the winning post had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of WAIRERE FALLS who shifted out after being carried out marginally by THE CATCH. Both Jockey R. Maloney rider of WAIRERE FALLS and Jockey R. Jamieson rider of THE CATCH were both reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Race 9: ECLIPSE BRISBANE OPEN HANDICAP 1110 M The start of this event was delayed approximately 8 minutes to avoid an interstate clash. HARDWARE LANE – Hampered after the start. Passing the 800m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MY SNOW QUEEN. Continued to over race for a short distance thereafter. MY SNOW QUEEN – Approaching the 800m, had to be restrained from the heels of SITUATION ROOM which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C. Graham rider of SITUATION ROOM pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MY SNOW QUEEN and as a result MY SNOW QUEEN has had to restrain and lose its rightful running. Jockey C. Graham’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commencing midnight 24/8/2024 up to and including midnight 1/9/2024. EN POINTE – Shifted in on jumping. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an increased upper respiratory noise. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised EN POINTE would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to resuming.
