Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey A. Jones stated the mare over raced early, had a tendency to hang out slightly during various stages of the event, which was normal for the horse and proved disappointing in its finishing effort.
FERNAO (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
CHASSAGNE – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
CLASSIC DEEL – Rider A. Mallyon reported the mare was under pressure from the 700m, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. EXTRA MANNERS – Held up for clear running from the 300m and went to the end of the race without being tested. In the presence of RQ Training representative S. Scriven, Apprentice C. Bellamy stated she was mindful of runners positioned to her outside approaching the home turn and gave thought to shifting to the outside of LUBRICATION, however; believed this manoeuvre may have resulted in her causing interference to other runners. She added that a run did present on straightening to the inside of LUBRICATION but was then awkwardly placed at the heels of WEST CORK and AMEIRCAN PHIREBALL, which resulted in her being unable to test her mount for the remainder of the home straight. In assessing the matter, Stewards noted the comments that were provided by App C. Bellamy and S. Scriven.

KAHLISEE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

Race 6: QUEENSLAND COUNTRY BANK BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1630 M
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by R. Tyrell, Trainer of 4th place getter COCOBREW EXPRESS (S. Collett) against 3rd place getter MENAZZI (C. Collis) alleging interference passing the 100m. On the evidence, it was established that approaching the winning post, COCOBREW EXPRESS was tightened for racing room and checked from the heels of MENAZZI when that runner shifted in after being struck by the rider’s whip of VIMINELE, which was racing tight to the outside of MENAZZI. Stewards determined that the cause of COCOBREW EXPRESS being checked and tightened was a result of MENAZZI being taken in by VIMINELE approaching the winning post and could not be attributed to MENAZZI. As a result, the objection was dismissed, and correct weight was declared on the Judges’ numbers.
