QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DOOMBEN - BRISBANE RACING CLUB SATURDAY 5TH OTOBER 2024 WEATHER – FineTRACK RATING – Good 4 (Good 3 after Race 6)RAIL – +4m entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. AdamsStewards – P. Zimmermann, O. Legg, L. De-Witt Rowson, J. Robinson. GENERALStewards permitted the following overweight:Race 5 – A. Mallyon +0.5kg. As Jockey M. Rodd was unable to ride today due to an injury, Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Race Day Summary. Apprentice C. Collis was reprimanded pursuant to AR 128(2) for leaving the course without permission. Race 1: OFFICIATING AT AQUIS QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD PLATE 1050 M BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Laid out under pressure in the straight. CROWN THE KING – Jockey A. Jones stated that her intention was to settle further forward but failed to muster early gate speed. In her opinion CROWN THE KING will derive significant benefit from today’s race. MISHANI EXTREME – Began awkwardly and bumped SON OF A LIE on jumping. RAPID READY – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after. SON OF A LIE – Bumped on jumping. INSAIN LADY – Raced fiercely in the early stages. SEQUEL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. SOUL INTENT (N Callow) – Began awkwardly and bumped RAPID READY after the start. Race 2: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BM70 HANDICAP 1615 M NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before being allowed to stride forward and take up a forward position passing the 800m. SATAY CHICKEN (NZ) – Approaching the 500m, became awkwardly placed at heels when attempting to improve into a narrow run to the inside of FEATHERTOP (GB). Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported his mount had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. THE CULLINAN – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 1000m when racing to the inside of NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) which was attempting to shift in to obtain cover. Jockey N. Callow rider of NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) was reminded of his obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground in future. FEATHERTOP (GB) – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 500m by SATAY CHICKEN (NZ) which attempted to improve into its inside. Jockey A. Mallyon reported he became concerned about the action of the mare in the home straight and elected to not pressure his mount over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be stepping short in front. Trainer M. Dunn was advised FEATHERTOP (GB) would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. CHARLIE'S CASE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. NEW JOY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 250m was obliged to shift out in an attempt to improve into clear running but after doing so approaching the 150m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) before obtaining clear running shortly after. Race 3: SKY RACING HANDICAP 1615 M MILITARY EXPERT – Began awkwardly. IVERSON – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey S. Collett stated that she could offer no explanation for today’s performance. She added that when placed under pressure in home straight, the gelding failed to let down as expected and proved disappointing. Trainers’ representative for R. Heathcote stated that they would report on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. A post-race swab was taken. Race 4: SPRING CARNIVAL BOOK NOW BM78 HANDICAP 2200 M The start of this race was delayed approximately 9 minutes owing to ARTFUL GIRL requiring farrier attention to both hind plates on arrival to the barriers. KUREDER (NZ) (J Orman) – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Orman stated that he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and said the gelding failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a respiratory noise. Trainers’ representative for C. Waller was advised KUREDER (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to resuming. MR FRENCH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced during the middle stages. ARTFUL GIRL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Over raced during the early stages. TAPPY'S LAD (NZ) – Raced in restricted room for an extended period passing the winning post on the 1st occasion. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. PEROVIC – Bumped heavily on jumping. TRIPLE MONEY (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping. HELL FOLLOWS – Slow to begin. BUMP'N'RUN – Shifted out on jumping and bumped PEROVIC. Race 5: XXXX QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1200 M The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes owing to the delay from the previous race. Correct weight was delayed allowing Jockey N. Tomizawa to view the Stewards patrol footage to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection. After declining to do so, correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers. GIN A TONIC – Bounded on jumping. Approaching the winning post, had to be checked to avoid the heels of SCRIPTED which shifted in under riding. Jockey S. Collett rider of SCRIPTED pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the winning post, she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GIN A TONIC and as a result, GIN A TONIC had to check from the heels of SCRIPTED. Jockey S. Collett’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days commencing midnight 7/10/2024 up to and including midnight 17/10/2024. DON'T FORGET JACK – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Jockey A. Mallyon reported that in his opinion the gelding may have not appreciated todays track conditions. DREAM SMART – Raced wide throughout. ESTRONDO – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the turn passing the 600m. Passing the 150m, elected to shift in rather than improve into a narrowing run between SCRIPTED and GIN A TONIC. Had to be restrained when approaching the winning post when avoiding the heels of SCRIPTED which shifted in. Stewards accepted the explanation for the late rider declaration tendered by the stable representative for R. Heathcote and took no further action. APUNTAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced in restricted room approaching the 800m. SCRIPTED – Began awkwardly. Race 6: RQ SUPPORTS RACING INDUSTRY SAFETY FILLIES AND MARES BM78 HANDICAP 1350 M TOJAKI – Over raced during the early and middle stages. OUTLAWED – Jockey M. Harley reported that he became concerned with the action of the mare and as such elected to not pressure his mount over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its near hind leg. Jockey M. Harley was examined by the club doctor following this race and was subsequently stood down for his remaining rides. Jockey M. Harley was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming. MOSZUR – Over raced during the early and middle stages. LAYDOWNLILY – Raced wide throughout. Hampered approaching the 400m after CENTRESTONE shifted out to improve. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey N. Beriman reported that her mount failed to travel throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Following the running of Race 6, the track was upgraded to a Good 3. Race 7: U & U RECRUITMENT COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BM78 HANDICAP 1350 M KRONENBOURG (NZ) – Slow to begin. RELEASE THE BEANS – Over raced early whilst being restrained to find cover. BETTCHA THE CROWN – Raced wide until the 800m. CLYDE – Apprentice M. Potgieter reported his mount was inclined to lay out over the concluding stages. KIRIKAN (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 8: LADBROKES OWN SPRING NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1110 M RELIABLE RUBY (NZ) – Slow to begin. MAJORELLE – Jockey A. Mallyon was reminded of his obligations regarding the height of his whip. BRENTWOOD – Passing the 100m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of SCUD which shifted out under riding when insufficiently clear. Apprentice M. Potgieter rider of SCUD pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 100m, he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of BRENTWOOD and as a result, BRENTWOOD had to check from the heels of SCUD. Apprentice M. Potgieter’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14 days commencing midnight 9/10/2024 up to and including midnight 23/10/2024. DEMON AWARD – Over raced whilst racing in restricted room over the early stages. THELWELL – As Apprentice C. Collis was unable to make the allocated weight, he was replaced by M. Castle. Apprentice C. Collis was fined $300 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. MY MUM'S TOYBOY – Raced in restricted room for a considerable distance passing the 800m and approaching the 700m, was obliged to steady when tightened for room by PARTY SPIRIT who was carried in by DEMON AWARD, which shifted in marginally. Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BM85 HANDICAP 1200 M Due to a delay in an interstate event, the start of this race was rescheduled to commence at 5:03pm. OVIDIUS – Passing the 200m, raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the outside of GODFATHER which shifted out under pressure. A. Jones rider of GODFATHER was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. RALPHIE – Reared as the start was affected and lost significant ground. Trainer G. Doughty was advised RALPHIE would require a barrier certificate prior to resuming. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. NORTHERN PRIDE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently cleared to start. EN POINTE – As Jockey M.
