GENERAL
Following the running of Race 5, Jockey N. Callow was stood down by the club doctor after hitting his knee on the barriers. N. Callow was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again. He was subsequently replaced in Race 10 on OUGHTON by Jockey L. Tilley.
Race 1: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS BM68 HANDICAP 1110 M
ACRES AWAY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight, attempted to shift out to improve into a run to the outside of PINK THUNDER which failed to eventuate, resulting in ACRES AWAY racing in restricted room from the 250m to approaching the 100m, whereby the gelding, was able to shift in across heels and improve into clear running.
INSTAGOOD – Bumped after the start with STREET CHASE. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
TALTARNI FIELDS – Had to be restrained when racing keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
STREET CHASE – Slow to begin. Bumped after the start with INSTAGOOD. Passing the 800m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
Race 2: STRONGER FIRST FOALS QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD PLATE 1050 M
BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME – Approaching the 800m, hampered by LOVE TO TORQUE who had to be restrained and shift out after the pace of the race was slackened. Jockey H. Richardson rider of TINKERBELLA was advised to exercise greater care when easing the pace of the race in future.
TURBO TORQUE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 800m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of HAPPY COFFEE which shifted out after improving onto heels.
EGYPTIAN GODDESS – Bumped heavily by LA BELLA BOOM after the start. Laid in under pressure during the home straight. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey S. Collett reported that her mount raced greenly throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying a harsh upper respiratory noise and a poor post-race recovery. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised EGYPTIAN GODDESS would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to resuming racing.
HAPPY COFFEE – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages. Passing the 800m as the pace of the race slackened, had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
LA BELLA BOOM – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared fit to start. Began awkwardly and bumped EGYPTIAN GODDESS shortly after. Raced greenly in the home straight.
LOVE TO TORQUE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m, attempted to shift out after becoming awkwardly placed on heels after the pace of the race slackened.
Race 3: LADBROKES LYS GRACIEUX 2019 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1600 M
ADELAD – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported his mount travelled well during the early stages but after being carried wider on the track passing the 600m, his mount commenced to weaken and when placed under pressure, he became concerned with the action of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
READY AZZ EVA – Passing the 250m, momentarily inconvenienced by RASHFORD which shifted out. Apprentice T. Fenlon was reminded of her obligation to be fully clear when shifting out. Passing the 50m, had to be restrained when tightened for running between MOOTESSA which shifted out marginally and RASHFORD.
MOSZUR – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 250m was disappointed when attempting to improve into a narrow run between CASTILLIAN (NZ) and AERIAL DANCER. Continued to be held up for a distance approaching the 100m. Inside the 100m, contacted MOOTESSA on two occasions and when approaching the winning post and could not be fully tested to the line after becoming awkwardly placed on heels.
DIANA'S AFFAIR – Trainer K. Schweida advised DIANA’S AFFAIR would be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
RASHFORD – Jumped away awkwardly after leaning onto the barrier partition at the start and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out to improve.
AERIAL DANCER – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 200m after a narrow run appeared passing the 200m between SANBANO and CASTILLIAN (NZ) the mare was reluctant to improve and as a result was forced back towards the running rail where it was unable to be tested. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. A post-race sample was also taken.
EL PENSADOR – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MOOTESSA – Shortly after straightening passing the 300m, laid in and became awkwardly placed on the heels of CASTILLIAN (NZ).
SANBANO – Began awkwardly.
Race 4: LADBROKES WINX 2018 CLASS 3 PLATE 1350 M
Correct weight was delayed allowing Stewards to view the patrol footage to ascertain if there were grounds to lodge a Stewards protest between 4th and 5th place. After viewing the films, Stewards took no further action and declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers.
BEAUTANTES – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
KADALL – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and passing the 50m, bumped ELLIBABY after laying in under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MIDORI BEAUTY – Jockey A. Mallyon reported that it wasn’t his intention to lead although after his mount jumped well, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward.
HABEEBAH (FR) – Over raced during the early stages.
ELLIBABY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 50m, bumped by KADALL which laid in under pressure.
Race 5: LADBROKES STATE OF REST 2021 BM70 HANDICAP 2000 M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes after the running rail at the crossing fell down before being rectified.
HELEVA DEEL – After being crossed passing the 1500m, commenced to over race for a short distance, shifted wider on the track before being able to settle with cover. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
PEPPERDINE – When the pace of the race slackened passing the 1000m, had to be restrained after improving onto heels, shifted out contacting RING BEARER.
MAJORIAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
ALDEENAARY (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
TRIPLE MONEY (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was hampered after the start. Over raced during the early stages. Jockey D. Turner reported that in his opinion the gelding proved disappointing and may appreciate a softer track.
RING BEARER – Hampered passing the 1000m by PEPPERDINE.
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Trainer C. Waller advised a change of tactics that BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) would be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Over raced during the early stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift wider to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
BLAGNY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 6: LADBROKES RACING CLUB QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1110 M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes after a fire alarm required evacuate of the race day staff after race 5.
SUPERALLOY – Began awkwardly and bumped BOOMTOWN BOSS.
THE HAMO – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 600m.
BOOMTOWN BOSS – Began awkwardly and bumped SUPERALLOY.
GOT GUMPTION – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported his mount raced very greenly throughout and recommended to connections to experiment with the addition of a tongue tie to the gelding’s gear. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ZATANNA – Began awkwardly.
SIX MORE SONGS – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 200m and from that point commenced to weaken. Jockey A. Jones reported in her opinion the filly has come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers’ representative for T. Gollan Mr Cavanough advised Stewards that they would report back in the following days on the condition of the filly.
VIALE – Commenced to over race when the pace of the race slackened passing the 800m, shifting out into a three wide position and raced wide for the remainder. Laid in rounding the home turn and continued to lay in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be bilaterally lame in both forelegs. Trainer M. Dunn was advised VIALE would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 7: LADBROKES ANAMOE 2022 CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1600 M
FLASHING STEEL – Jockey R. Stewart reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
POETIC DRAMA (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight, shifted out, contacting IT’SMEMARIO before obtaining clear running passing the 250m. Passing the 150m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of IT’SMEMARIO which laid in under pressure and was obliged to shift wider.
SIZZLING GAL – Shifted in on jumping.
LIVING FREE – Passing the 1400m, had to be momentarily restrained from the heels of MILITARY EXPERT which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice C. Collis rider of MILITARY EXPERT was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
IT'SMEMARIO – Contacted on entering the home straight by POETIC DRAMA (NZ) which shifted out to secure clear running.
THE HUNGARIAN – Lost offside hind plate.
LATELY (NZ) – Hampered after the start and lost ground.
WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA – After the pace of the race slackened passing the 1400m, commenced to race fiercely for a short distance and had to be restrained off the heels of IT’SMEMARIO. Continued to over race during the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 8: LADBROKES SIR DRAGONET 2020 NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1200 M
BRENTWOOD – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared fit to start.
METALART – Raced wide throughout
DEMON AWARD – Began awkwardly. Raced very keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Jockey C. Spry reported that in his opinion the gelding may benefit from the removal of blinkers.
BOWRIDER – Began extremely awkwardly, dipped shortly after jumping. Passing the 500m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
SCUD – Raced wide throughout. Jockey R. Dolan reported that in his opinion the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P. Shailer reported that it was now his intention to send the mare for a spell.
TREASURER – Over raced during the middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Became awkwardly placed on the heels of BRENTWOOD which shifted out under pressure.
Race 9: LADBROKES COX PLATE RACEDAY OPEN HANDICAP 1110 M
RUBIQUITOUS – Passing the 800m, had to be checked off the heels of TIGER SHARK after TIGER SHARK shifted in when insufficiently clear before excessively slowing the pace, as a result, RUBIQUITOUS shifted out, making heavy contact with THELWELL and continued to over race for a short distance. Jockey J. Bayliss rider of TIGER SHARK pled guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 800m, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of RUBIQUITOUS, causing that runner to have to shift out and contact THELWELL. Jockey J. Bayliss’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 26/10/2024 up to and including midnight 3/10/2024. Apprentice C. Collis was examined by the club Doctor after the running of this race and was subsequently cleared to fulfil his remaining engagement.
OVIDIUS – Began awkwardly.
TIGER SHARK– Began awkwardly. Lost near hind plate.
MAHBABY – Had to be restrained from heels passing the 800m whilst over racing.
THELWELL – Trainer S. Livingstone was fined $200 pursuant to LR 36(6)(a) for failing to scratch the dual acceptor by the prescribed time. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SALTAIRE – Slow to begin.
XPRESSO – Began awkwardly.
Race 10: LADBROKES ROMANTIC WARRIOR 2023 BM85 HANDICAP 1350 M
OUGHTON – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m by BETCHA THE CROWN which shifted out to improve.
THE DROVER – Bumped after the start. Over raced during the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
BLAKMAX – Shifted in and was bumped after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SHA OF GOMER – Bumped heavily on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. A post-race swab was taken.
PATTON – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over raced during the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift wider to improve.
BETTCHA THE CROWN – Hampered after the start. Over raced during the early stages.
SUPER DUCK – Began awkwardly.
