GENERAL
As Jockey R. Maloney was not riding today due to being injured, he was replaced as per the Race Day Summary. Jockey R. Maloney was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming.
 
Stewards conducted a number of random breath testing and urine testing of riders engaged at today’s meeting.
 
Trainer C. Waller was fined $300 pursuant to LR 36(6)(a) for failing to scratch the dual acceptor LADY NIKSTER by the prescribed time.
 
Race 1: EMPIRE OF JAPAN QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE  1350 M
 
LOCH AWE – Bumped after the start.
 
WOWZINO (NZ) – Raced greenly throughout. Leaving the 1100m, inconvenienced when LADY NIKSTER lost ground and continued to race greenly. Jockey N. Callow reported his mount raced greenly and was inclined to lay out during the event.  
 
DIVINE DIAMONDS – Apprentice T. Fenlon reported her saddle shifted which placed her at some disadvantage.
 
KETTLEBELL – Bumped after the start.
 
LADY NIKSTER – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 1100m was checked after being crowded for room to the inside of KETTLEBELL which was taken in by LOCH AWE when that runner shifted in and away from DIVINE DIAMONDS despite the effort of Jockey L. Dempsey. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainers’ representative for C. Waller was advised LADY NIKSTER would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to resuming.
 
PHILIA – Trainer D. Vandyke was advised a warning would be placed on the filly after proving difficult to load.
 
Race 2: SKY RACING FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE  1200 M
 
FREE AS THE WIND – Near the 700m whilst over racing, improved onto the heels of GREY IMPACT, shifted out and bumped PRIVATE EQUITY.
 
FRENCH RIVIERA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ROSEBERY TERRACE – Began awkwardly. Bumped for several strides with ATTENTIVE shortly after the start. Approaching the 1100m, raced in restricted room. Jockey M. Gray was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the concluding stages. Jockey M. Gray was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(6)(b) for raising his whip arm above shoulder height.
 
WINDRANGER – Approaching the 1100m, shifted out when racing greenly.
 
ATTENTIVE – Began awkwardly. Bumped for several strides with ROSEBERY TERRACE shortly after the start. Approaching the 1100m, raced in restricted room became severely crowded and was bumped forced outwards by ROSEBERY TERRACE which had shifted out and away from WINDRANGER. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Trainers’ representative for C. Waller advised they would report back in the days subsequently regarding the condition of the filly.
 
Race 3: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS BOOK NOW COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE  1200 M
 
LONJOURNO – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after the start.
 
PIMPERNEL – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced greenly throughout. Raced wide throughout.
 
CONCADOR – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages and approaching the 800m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of IRAMA.
 
IRAMA – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied when SHIPPING LANE shifted in. Apprentice C. Collis was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
SHIPPING LANE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide during the early stages. Raced greenly approaching the home turn. Apprentice C. Collis was fined $200 pursuant to AR 211(1) after he returned to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight.  
 
TASORAAY – Shifted in on jumping.
 
Race 4: THE GIBSON BM62 HANDICAP  1600 M
 
LUTON HOO (NZ) – Jumped inwards and contacted the inside barrier partition and a short distance later bumped SECOND SUN.
 
KERKORIAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Near the 600m laid out when racing in restricted room, had to be steadied and lost ground. Obliged to alter course leaving the 200m to secure clear running. Apprentice J. Molloy reported his mount resented racing in restricted room near the 600m, became awkward in its action and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to its off foreleg. Trainer J. Bayliss was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its pre-race manners.
 
LISTENTOZOU (NZ) – Over raced during the early and middle stages.
 
TIME TO TESTIFY – Raced wide throughout.
 
WHO ORDERED DAFISH – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Stewards inquired into the reasons for WHO ORDERED DAFISH being checked approaching the 1300m, it was established that WHO ORDERED DAFISH commenced to race keenly when being restrained by Jockey N. Callow and that a short distance later YELLOWHAMMER also shifted in after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of LISTENTOZOU (NZ) when the pace of the race slackened, resulting in WHO ORDERED DAFISH being heavily restrained and losing ground. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Leaving the 200m was disappointed for a run and was held up and unable to be fully tested for the remainder of the event. When questioned, N. Callow advised Stewards that approaching the 250m, he had given consideration to shift to the outside of RHODES, however a short distance later he felt a run had started to present between RHODES and YELLOWHAMMER which he attempted to secure but was then disappointed for this run when both of those runners shifted ground, resulting in him becoming held up and unable to fully test his mount to the conclusion of the event. Stewards noted the comments provided by Jockey N. Callow. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
RHODES – Raced wide until approaching the 900m.
 
SECOND SUN – Bumped by LUTON HOO (NZ) shortly after the start. Commenced to over race near the 1200m when the pace of the race slackened. Leaving the 900m had to be steadied from heels when the pace of the race slackened. Raced wide throughout.
 
YELLOWHAMMER – Shifted in approaching the 1300m when awkwardly placed at heels when the pace of the race slackened. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
MISS CHENERY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 1200m when the pace of the race slackened and was obliged to shift wider.
 
WAYFARER'S WAY – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 1200m when the pace of the race slackened. Approaching the 600m inconvenienced and obliged to shift out from the heels of KERKORIAN.
 
Race 5: OFFICIATING AT AQUIS FILLIES AND MARES BM68 HANDICAP  1200 M
 
JOVITA – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped heavily with MAMBO DANCER. Forced wider leaving the 500m by FREELAND which shifted out to improve.
 
MAMBO DANCER – Bumped heavily after the start and lost ground. Approaching the 900m commenced to over race and had to be steadied from heels.
 
MISS BAYLES – Bumped heavily shortly after the start and lost ground. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BELLA BABE – Began very awkwardly and shifted out on jumping.
 
SALT LAKE BETTY – Began awkwardly.
 
BAT PAD – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained in an attempt to find cover. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LUNAR EIGHT – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.
 
FREELAND – Began awkwardly.
 
KIRRAGIRL – Jockey A. Mallyon reported that his mount failed to let down as expected in the home straight and proved disappointing.
 
After the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
Race 6: XXXX GOLD COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BM68 HANDICAP  1200 M
 
CONVINCEBILITY – Raced wide throughout.
 
HE'S HEAVEN – Began awkwardly. Commenced to over race approaching the 900m when the pace of the race slackened and had to be steadied from heels for a short distance. Held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion on the off-hind hock.
 
JOHN RAMBO – Leaving the 900m commenced to severely over race, despite the efforts of its rider and at a point approaching the 700m, improved onto the heels of forward runners, clipped heels and blundered resulting in Apprentice J. Franklin being dislodged. After being assessed by QAS officials, Apprentice Franklin was transported to hospital for further assessment, and he was advised he would be stood down for a period of 12 days as per the Racing Queensland and QRIC concussion protocol. Stewards intend to inquire into the reasons for Apprentice J. Franklin being dislodged when Apprentice Franklin is available to give evidence. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BOOM SHOT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Severely inconvenienced and forced to shift wider leaving the 700m.
 
BROCKY – Leaving the 1100m, shifted in and contacted the running rail for a short distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a near hind hock abrasion.
 
Race 7: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE CLASS 2 HANDICAP  1350 M
 
Due to the delay following Race 6, Race 7 rescheduled to run at 5:18pm.
 
CONNECTICUT – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Trainer T. Mackinnon was reprimanded pursuant to AR 106(1) for presenting her horse to the mounting enclosure with the incorrect gear.
 
TUFF TU MUS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SCRIPT WRITER.  
 
MASTER GEE – Apprentice B. Wheeler reported his mount travelled comfortably throughout however failed to stretch out from the 600m and was awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slight cough. Stewards will follow up with Trainer M. Nolan regarding the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent.
 
SCRIPT WRITER – Bumped after the start by TUFF TU MUS. Raced wide throughout.
 
KENICHI – Began awkwardly.
 
BADDA BOOM BABY – Slow to begin. Trainer R. Beaton was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners.
 
ARAMINTA – Laid out under pressure leaving the 200m before being corrected. Jockey M. Harley was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the concluding stages.
 
LAVONI – Hampered shortly after the start.
