GENERAL
 
When Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was unavailable due to personal reasons, Stewards permitted the following replacement:
Race 4, No. 13 CONTREAS – Jockey N. Callow
 
As Jockey Guthmann-Chester had accepted with an overweight of +0.5kg on the gelding, it was further ridden at the advertised weight of 56.5kg.
 
Race 5 – Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer A. Campton for failing to scratch the dual acceptance of HYDROELECTRIC by the prescribed time.
 
 
Race 1: JONKERS FIRST YEARLINGS 2025 MAIDEN PLATE (1350m)
 
BIT OF GRUNT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PHAROAH'S PROPHECY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover for the majority. Laid out under pressure rounding the home-turn and in the home straight. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey N. Callow advised he had been instructed to lead on the gelding, however after being caught wide in the early stages, he advised he would have had to overly exert his mount to obtain a forward position. He further added when it became apparent he would be unable to obtain a position with cover, he was left racing wide and without cover.

READY FOR THE TRIP – Bumped on jumping when KIDS IN THE KITCHEN shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
KIDS INTHE KITCHEN – Began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped READY FOR THE TRIP.
 
RIPPINGTON – Began awkwardly. Laid in approaching the 250m and became awkwardly placed on the heels of ALECIA. Held-up for clear running from the 150m until the 50m.
 
KATERINI - When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Mallyon advised the mare was reluctant to stride forward in the early stages, and his opinion would benefit from the addition of blinkers. He further added he was disappointed with its finishing efforts when under pressure in the home straight.
 
USE YOUR ILLUSION – Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
MISS REILLY – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels approaching the 250m before shifting out abruptly to secure clear running.
 
PRIVATE EQUITY – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that the mare was worked-up in the preliminary, and weakened noticeably when placed under pressure in the home straight. He further added in his opinion, the mare raced flat. A post-race veterinary revealed a slow recovery.
 
ROSEBERY TERRACE – Raced wide and without cover for the majority.
 
BLONDE ON BLONDE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Eased approaching the 1000m when READY FOR THE TRIP shifted in. Jockey A. Jones (READY FOR THE TRIP) was advised to exercise greater care. Stewards noted the pace of the race had slackened at this stage of the race.
 
 
Race 2: SKY RACING CLASS 2 HANDICAP   (1650m)
 
TUFF TU MUS – Raced wide and without cover until approaching the 1200m.
 
CONNECTICUT – Approaching the 1200m raced in restricted room and had to be steadied when TUFF TU MUS shifted in when not fully clear. Rider N. Callow (TUFF TU MUS) was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Cast its near fore-plate in running.
 
CARTWHEELS – Began awkwardly.
 
WEST CORK – Over-race throughout the early and middle stages.
 
WHO ORDERED DAFISH – Cast its near hind-plate in running.
 
KENICHI – When asked to comment on performance, Jockey M. Du Plessis stated that the gelding failed to travel comfortably from the 600m, and he subsequently desisted from pressuring his mount over the final 200m when concerned something may have been amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-foreleg. Trainer P. Hulbert was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
VENOM WOLF – Began awkwardly and bumped.
 
LOST MY NIGHTIE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: SEN CLASS 4 HANDICAP (1200m)
 
LOVES ME LIKEAROCK (GB) – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed clinical signs of heat stress.
 
LORDSTER – Bumped the running rail on a number of occasions near the 600m when laying in. Held-up for clear running in the early part of the home straight before improving onto heels approaching the 250m having to be steadied.
 
DAMO DAYZ – Held-up approaching home-turn before shifting out in an attempt to obtain clear running and bumped MIO SORRENTO.
 
DIRTY DANCING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after becoming fractious during transport to the course resulting in a minor laceration to the off-side of its head and passed fit to start. Began awkwardly.
 
SIR CARTER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrythmia for the first occasion. Trainer P. Hulbert was advised that a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG prior to completing a satisfactory 1000m gallop would be required before racing again.
 
MIO SORRENTO – Bumped and carried wider approaching the home-turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LION CLASS – Over-raced in the early stages. Improved onto heels when continuing to race keenly near the 800m and steadied.
 
JUKEBOX GLOW – Held-up for clear running on the entrance of the home straight until the 200m. Improved onto heels and shifted out leaving the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
 
Race 4: U&U RECRUITMENT BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (2050m)
 
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – The C. Waller stable advised that it would be the connection’s intentions to ride the gelding further forward if circumstances permitted. Raced wide and without cover until the 1000m before striding forward to sit outside the leader.
 
DEVOCEAN (NZ) – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1600m momentarily steadied. Commenced to over-race when the pace steadied near the 1400m and shifted out. Raced wide and without cover thereafter. Upon entering the home straight, shifted out and away from HALLSIDE MARTINI which had shifted out and as a consequence bumped NIPPA’S NIGHTCAP. Jockey T. Marshall (HALLSIDE MARTINI) was advised to exercise greater care.
 
HATASU – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly for some distance passing the 1400m. Made the crossing awkwardly at the 1400m. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Mallyon reported that the softer track conditions proved detrimental to its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SMOOTH TORQUE – Began awkwardly. Bumped the running rail passing the 1600m when racing keenly.
 
HALLSIDE MARTINI – Began awkwardly before being hampered between the runners.
 
GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced in restricted room momentarily near the 800m. Was disappointed for a run near the 200m to the inside of RHODES having to be steadied before shifting out to obtain clear running. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey C. Graham reported that her mount over-racing proved detrimental its finishing efforts, and after experiencing an interrupted run, the mare was unable to travel fully comfortably throughout the event.
 
CONTRERAS – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in for some distance approaching the 800m.
 
NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP – Bumped on jumping. Bumped upon entering the home straight when DEVOCEAN shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

WAYFARER'S WAY – Laid in approaching the winning post obliging its rider to stop and straighten.
 
SOKUDO – Raced wide with cover from the 1100m.
 
Race 5: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1200m)
 
TELLEZ (NZ) – Cast its off fore-plate in running.
 
ZAHER (NZ) – Began awkwardly before being bumped. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
ABOUT TO EXPLODE – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with Trainer T. Gollan on the condition of the gelding.
 
FLYWHEEL – Began awkwardly.
 
MR TABASCO – Slow to begin.
 
FEARLESS THINKING (NZ) – Trainer J. Healy was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s record for being difficult to load.
 
KOZANI – Approaching the 250m put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced. Cast its off fore-plate in running.
 
SULTRY SIREN – Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 6: LADBROKES RACING CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1350m)
 
STARLIGHT NATION (IRE) – Crowded between runners on jumping.
 
NESCAFFIER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Steadied and shifted in when tightened for room by SCRIBBLE which shifted in when insufficiently clear.
 
PEACEFUL PRINCE – Severely checked and lost ground leaving the 1200m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N. Beriman (SCRIBBLE) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding in that she did permit her mount to shift in near the 1200m when insufficiently clear of NESCAFFIER causing that runner to be taken inwards carrying STARLIGHT NATION inwards into the line of PEACEFUL PRINCE, resulting in that runner being severely checked when losing its rightful running. SUNNY’S GIRL which was trailing was also checked. Jockey Beriman’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 12 days, commencing Midnight Saturday 16 November 2024 and to conclude Midnight, Thursday 28 November 2024; to resume riding Friday, 29 November 2024. In assessing penalty, Stewards considered the carelessness to be in the low range, however the consequences to be in the mid-range, her guilty plea and record. Jockey Beriman was advised of her rights to an appeal.
 
READY AND LUCKY – Leaving the 300m shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ADORADEC – Hampered between runners soon after the start. Jockey L. Dempsey reported that his saddle slipped back during the event.
 
DIVINE DIAMONDS – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide and without cover for the majority. Leaving the 300m inconvenienced and carried wider when READY AND LUCKY shifted out.
 
KIRRAGIRL – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice C. Collis reported that that mare travelled well throughout the early and middle stages, however proved disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. He further added the mare may not have appreciated the softer track conditions.
 
DARLING HEART – Raced wide and with cover for the majority. Shifted out abruptly after being struck with the whip near the 300m resulting in its rider having to correct the mare.
 
SCRIBBLE – Began awkwardly.
 
SUNNY'S GIRL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 1200m was checked when PEACEFUL PRINCE which was racing forward lost ground after being severely checked by its rider. Apprentice C. Bellamy pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) in that she did fail to ride her mount out fully to the finish. Apprentice Bellamy was subsequently fined the sum of $600. In assessing penalty, Stewards could not be definitively satisfied that the mare would have finished second, when considering the short-head margin, however, were of the opinion her vigour was far below the expected standard. Apprentice Bellamy was advised of her rights to an appeal.
 
ZEPHYRZ ZOOM – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced passing the 1200m. Raced wide and without cover from the 900m.
 
CLAUDIUS – Inconvenienced passing the 1200m. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide with cover for the majority. Inconvenienced and carried wider passing the 300m when DARLING HEART shifted out.
