Race 1: PORTLAND SKY FIRST CROP YEARLINGS @ WIDDEN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200 M

MR DEMOCRAT – Slow to begin.

LA BELLA BOOM – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

DESTINYS PINNACLE – When asked to comment on the performance rider T Marshall stated after being placed under pressure from the 500m, the filly failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B Gentle was advised a warning would be placed on DESTINY’S PINNACLE for a poor performance.


Race 2: DES LAMBART MEMORIAL ONE METRO WIN HANDICAP 1600 M

EVOCATOR – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

MR FRENCH – Began awkwardly and contacted the inside barrier partition on jumping.

ORIGINAL GLAZE – Lost the off fore plate in running.

APERITIVO – Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event.

AMERICAN PHIREBALL – Rider M Harley was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) to ride his mounts out fully to the end of the race.


Race 3: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS BOOK NOW BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1600 M

KADALL – Contacted the enclosure rail moving onto the track, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Raced keenly in the early stages and as a consequence near the 1200m, shifted in of its own accord and made contact with the running rail. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DIANA'S AFFAIR – Inclined to lay in at various stages of the event. Dislodged rider A Jones on pulling up. A Jones was examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill her remaining engagements. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DISNEY CASTLE – Jumped out at the start. Held for clear running entering the home straight. Passing the 150m became awkwardly placed at the heels of DIANA’S AFFAIR which was laying in. Shortly after obliged to steady when racing in restricted room and went to the line unable to be fully tested by its rider.

MORE LOVE – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

POSEIDON RULER – Passing the 700m improved onto heels and had to be restrained. Steadied from heels passing the 300m after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening WEST CORK.

WEST CORK – Began awkwardly. Rider R Dolan could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an upper respiratory noise. Trainer M Faulkner was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of a satisfactory endoscopic examination, prior to its next race start.



Race 4: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2200 M

FLEUR DU MONDE – Change of tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. When asked to comment on the performance rider C Collis reported the mare did not let down when placed under pressure in the home straight and was somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery rate.

UP AND UNDER – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

ARTFUL GIRL – Slow to begin.

AIDEN – Caught wide in the early stages before permitted to stride forward and race outside the leader from the 1100m.

ALDEENAARY – Passing the 100m disappointed for a run to the inside of APPLICATIONS and was unable to be fully tested by its rider in the run to the finish.

BEDFORD SQUARE – Slow to begin.

ROCK YA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

AMALGAMATION – Began awkwardly and shifted in.


Race 5: EMPIRE OF JAPAN CLASS 2 PLATE 1200 M

BOOM SHOT – Crowded between runners on jumping and inconvenienced. Passing the 200m obliged to shift in to obtain clear running. Near the 100m disappointed for a run to the inside of SULTRY SIREN.

LIBERTY STEPS – Jumped out at the start.

PORT ERIN – Passing the 800m raced keenly when being restrained from heels, shifted out crowding THE HAMO which was hampered.

RUNWITHTHETIDE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m steadied to avoid the heels of SULTRY SIREN (R Maloney) which shifted in when not fully clear. R Maloney was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Passing the 700m, when over-racing, improved onto heels and shifted out.

SHAKO – Change of tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Jumped in at the start.

GOSPEL GIRL – Rounding the home turn momentarily hampered when PORT ERIN shifted out to improve. When asked to comment rider A Jones reported the mare raced flat today and in her opinion may benefit from a step up in distance and the addition of blinkers. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.

THE HAMO – Hampered passing the 800m.


Race 6: XXXX FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1110 M

SKIRT THE LAW – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

TYPHOON TAAVI – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ARISPHERE – Disappointed for a run passing the 200m and unable to secure running until a point near the 100m.

ISLAND MAGIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

LENNIC – Rider B Wheeler desisted from pressuring his mount passing the 200m after he became concerned that LENNIC may possibly have bled during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.

ROLLING ROCK – Blundered on jumping resulting in rider D Thornton becoming unbalanced and the mare settling further back in the field than anticipated.

Following this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.


Race 7: TATTERSALL'S RECOGNITION STAKES 1350 M

UCALLEDIT – Made contact with the enclosure rail moving out onto the track sustaining a superficial laceration the off hindquarter. Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying symptoms of cardiac arrhythmia on the second occasion. Representative for trainer K Lees was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of results of an ECG and would also require a cardiac auscultation performed by a veterinarian following a gallop, trial or jump out of 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing. In addition, a satisfactory echocardiograph must also be performed prior to resuming racing.

FLYING TRAPEZE – Jumped out at the start and bumped MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO.

MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.

ARTS OBJECT – Slow to begin.

AMERICAN PRESIDENT – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

CAPTAIN FENKEL – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY – When asked to comment rider S Collett reported the mare failed to quicken as expected when placed under pressure in the home straight and that NAVYONTHEHIGHWAY appeared to race flat today.



Race 8: EUREKA STUD TATTERSALL'S CLASSIC 1200 M

ABOUNDING – Held up for clear running between the 600m until soon after entering the home straight. Following the event rider M Harley was examined by the club medical officer and was stood down after suffering the effects of dehydration.

APPIN GIRL – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

MISS HELLFIRE – Shifted in abruptly at the start and checked SALTAIRE.

SALTAIRE – Checked at the start.

PAJANTI – Slow to begin.

UNCUT GEM – Slow to begin.


Race 9: SELECT FIRE SYSTEMS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1110 M

EPIC PROPORTIONS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Bumped near the 100m when BUSTING shifted out to improve.

GODFATHER – Held for clear running from the entrance of the home straight until approaching the 100m.

ACRES AWAY – From the wide barrier restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

TROIKA – Obliged to steady and hampered near the 100m when BUSTING (A Jones) shifted out to improve. A Jones was reprimanded under AR131(a) in this incident.

PAYLINE – As M Harley was indisposed Stewards permitted CJ Graham to ride the gelding. Rider CJ Graham reported it was not her intention to lead however after beginning well and with limited speed shown by runners drawn to the inside she elected to allow PAYLINE to stride forward to the position outside the leader approaching the 800m.

ADDRIEL – Shifted in abruptly at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Trainer J Bellamy was fined $100 under AR206(3) for presenting the gelding to race in incorrect gear.

BOSSED UP – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

BUSTING – Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight until obtaining clear running near the 100m.

MARKWELL DREAMER – Slow to begin.


Race 10: LADBROKES PUNTER ASSIST BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1350 M

PATTON – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from symptoms of mild heat stress.

BEAUTANTES – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

THE INFLICTOR – Jumped out at the start.

STARRY EYES – Slow to begin.

MOONAN ME – As M Harley was indisposed Stewards permitted R Dolan to ride the gelding. Slow to muster speed in the early stages of the event.

TAVS – Shifted out to improve near the 400m and bumped TUQIRI which was taken wider on the track.

TUQIRI – Bumped and taken wider rounding the home turn.
