Race 1: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH MAIDEN PLATE        1660 Metres
 
BIT OF GRUNT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PHAROAH'S PROPHECY – Laid out approaching the home turn.
 
BLUEPINOT –– Connections advised that it would be the intention to settle further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
CAESAR CAKE – Began awkwardly and bumped. Bumped with KATERINI rounding the home turn.
 
HONOUR MISSION – Rider M. Hellyer reported that the mare travelled keenly, however when asked for an effort from the 600m, failed to respond to his riding and commenced to give ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Morrison was advised that HONOUR MISSION would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards’ prior to racing again.
 
KATERINI – Raced wide until the 1300m. Bumped with CAESAR CAKE rounding the home turn.
 
MISS REILLY – Began awkwardly, lost ground and bumped shortly afterwards.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft (7).
 
Race 2: XXXX MAIDEN PLATE      1200 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS required a gear adjustment on arrival at the barriers.
 
ALPINE RAIDER – Slow to begin. Forced wider when CREATIVITY MISS shifted out at the 800m. Approaching the 250m, obliged to momentarily steady when SIRKEL shifted out to improve. T. Marshall, rider of SIRKEL, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
SMART BINT – Raced wide throughout.
 
TRAPEDO – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS – Shifted out on jumping. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Raced in restricted room momentarily approaching the 400m to the inside of SIRKEL, which laid in.
 
SIRKEL – Laid in approaching the 400m.
 
BEAST OF BURDEN – Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from heels on a number of occasions leaving the 1000m until leaving the 900m.  Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.
 
 
Race 3: SKY RACING MAIDEN PLATE    1200 Metres
 
KEEP SAFE – Over raced during the early and middle stages. When over racing, approaching the 900m, had to be steadied from the heels of ANSON BAY. Laid out rounding the home turn. Whilst weakening, commenced to lay out over the final 150m. Jockey R. Maloney reported that the gelding was inclined to over race which was detrimental to its finishing effort. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
AQUAHOLIC – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 500m, raced in restricted room. Approaching the 200m, momentarily steadied when STRIKE THE HEART shifted out. Jockey M. Du Plessis, rider of STRIKE THE HEART, was advised to exercise greater care. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor reported that the gelding hung out throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
YOUCOMPLETEME – Cast the off fore plate in running.
 
MY MISCHKA – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider near the 700m by KEEP SAFE which shifted out whilst over racing. Leaving the 500m, laid in whilst weakening, bumping with AQUAHOLIC. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
STRIKE THE HEART – Rider M. Du Plessis reported that his mount was inclined to race greenly throughout. Leaving the 250m, when being directed out in order to secure clear running, commenced to lay out and then continued to lay out for some distance.
 
ATTENTIVE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, rider A. Mallyon reported that the filly at its previous start was somewhat agitated and raced flat. He further added that ATTENTIVE had taken improvement from the previous performance and raced more tractably today. He was also of the opinion that the filly appreciated today’s softer track conditions. Trainer’s representative B. Killion concurred with the comments of jockey Mallyon. He added that the filly had been working well leading up to the event and the stable was confident of an improved showing.
 
RED FEATHER BOA – Began awkwardly. Rider G. Cartwright reported that her mount was inclined to race greenly throughout.
 
MY SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Approaching the 250m, was disappointed for a run and was obliged to shift in and was then unable to secure clear running until approaching the 50m.
 
 
Race 4: EMPIRE OF JAPAN @ HOPETOUN FARM QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE    1350 Metres
 
AVERRED – Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn, then raced greenly in the home straight.
 
BOOMROUX – Rider M. Harley reported that the colt travelled keenly with the blinkers on for the first time however, was under pressure from the 500m where BOOMROUX commenced to give ground. He further added that he was disappointed with the performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be displaying symptoms of heat stress. Co-trainer C. Munce advised that it was the stables’ intention to freshen the colt and also to discuss with connections the possibility of BOOMROUX being gelded.
 
JAMCART (NZ) – Improved onto the heels of the tiring BOOMROUX approaching the 250m and shifted out. Leaving the 200m, became awkwardly placed at heels of AQUATEMPO and was obliged to shift in.
 
MAZIS – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly during the early and middle stages, before becoming awkward in its action near the 800m. Improved onto the heels of EVERYWHERE leaving the 600m. Held up for clear running from the 600m until the 250m. Rider R. Maloney reported that the colt raced greenly throughout the event.
 
TRUSTY BANDIT – Hampered at the start.
 
AQUATEMPO – Brushed leaving the 300m.
 
SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – Connections advised that the filly would attempt to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Settled in a midfield position with cover. Laid in leaving the 300m and brushed with AQUATEMPO.  
 
EVERYWHERE – Began awkwardly, was hampered shortly afterwards and as a result lost ground.
 
 
Race 5: NUTURF BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP     1660 Metres
 
EXPECTANT – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
PLEADEEL – Approaching the 250m, improved onto the heels of SAXINIQUE and was obliged to shift out. Leaving the 200m, brushed by SAXINIQUE which laid out under pressure.
 
SAXINOUE – Laid out under pressure leaving the 200m before being corrected by its rider. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying mild heat stress.
 
AUTORA – Slow to begin. Raced wide until the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer’s representative B. Killion advised he would report back to Stewards in the coming days on the post race condition of AUTORA.  
 
MAGIC GAME – Over raced during the middle stages. Approaching the 400m, was obliged to shift wider to avoid the weakening AUTORA. When questioned regarding whether there was a possibility to hold a position on  the back of KIRRAGIRL in the early stages, jockey J. Stanley  stated that he did attempt in the early stages to hold a position to the inside of PLEADEEL, however he was mindful of the mare’s racing characteristics in that the mare has previously over raced, and with this in mind he did not want to overly pressure his mount in an attempt to hold a position trailing KIRRAGIRL as he felt MAGIC GAME would likely over race and it would be detrimental to its overall chances. Jockey J. Stanley further added that MAGIC GAME was not suited by the tempo of today’s race and also appreciates firmer tracks than that of today. Stewards noted the comments.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities
 
KIRRAGIRL – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 6: SEN BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP       1350 Metres
 
PATMOS ISLAND – Approaching the winning post, became awkwardly placed at the heels of WALSH BAY which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
 
BILLIONAIR BABY – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
LORDSTER – Over raced when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. Over raced during the middle stages.
 
WALSH BAY – Hampered on jumping. Leaving the 50m, shifted out when awkwardly placed at the heels of CONVINCEABILITY which shifted out under riding. Apprentice C. Collis, rider of CONVINCEABILITY, was advised to stop and straighten his mounts in future when they commence to shift ground.
 
 
Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS JAN 2025 CLASS 4 HANDICAP     1110 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed 7 minutes when Stewards found that the barriers had been incorrectly positioned at the 1050m start, and as a result had to be repositioned to the correct starting distance of 1110m. BRC have undertaken to review their starting procedures. On arrival at the barriers, ATOMIC SELFIE became fractious, resulting in apprentice E. Lang being dislodged. The mare then made contact with the hedging on the outside of the course proper resulting in a minor laceration to the near hindleg. ATOMIC SELFIE was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5.23pm on veterinary advice.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on ATOMIC SELFIE be refunded with the following deductions:
1st ZELGARIA 3c win, 4c place
2nd DAMO DAYZ 5c place
3rd RUSSIAN SUB 4c place
 
FLAG HALL – Crowded on jumping. Raced wide until the 800m.  Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that the gelding was first up today and became worked up due to the delay of the start of this event and in his opinion, this may have had an effect on its finishing effort.
 
RUSSIAN SUB – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
DAMO DAYZ – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped KAT CHINNA.  
 
KAT CHINNA – Bumped on jumping.
 
DON'T DISS AROUND – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS CLASS 1 HANDICAP     1200 Metres
 
Due to the delay in the previous event, Race 8 was rescheduled to start at 5.55pm.
 
ABOUT TO EXPLODE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Obliged to shift in approaching the 250m to obtain clear running.
 
CERTAINLYCAN – Bumped rounding the home turn when CRESSBROOK shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Jones reported that her mount became quite sweated up prior to the race and in her opinion, this may have resulted in its disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer’s representative C. Cavanagh was advised to report back to Stewards on the post race condition of the mare.
 
BOLLINGER MISS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. Jockey M. Harley reported that it was his intention to settle further forward but after being slow to begin he settled in a comfortable midfield position, however when placed under pressure from the 500m, the mare didn’t respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainer C. Munce was advised to report back to Stewards on the post race condition of the mare.
 
BRIGHT BLONDE – Jockey C. Graham reported that her mount travelled well until the home turn and when placed under pressure was disappointing in its finishing effort. She added, that in her opinion, the mare didn’t appreciate today’s track conditions.  
 
SUPER FREEZE – Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount had a tendency to lay out in the home straight and therefore was unable to be fully tested.
 
JEDIAH – Slow to begin.
 
LOZEN – Began awkwardly.
