Race 2: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN HANDICAP 1110M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered objections lodged by both dead-heat second placegetters jockey S. Collett (GOLD FEVER) and jockey J. Guthmann-Chester (WARRIOR HEAD) against AKERMANIS (J. Orman) being declared the winner, alleging interference inside the final 100m. Stewards after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, found that leaving the 100m, AKERMANIS shifted out under pressure brushing WARRIOR HEAD, which in turn shifted out and bumped with GOLD FEVER which became unbalanced. Stewards, bearing in mind the degree of interference and the short neck margin could not be satisfied that had this incident not occurred that GOLD FEVER or WARRIOR HEAD would have finished ahead of AKERMANIS at the conclusion of the event and therefore dismissed the objections, and correct weight given on the judges semaphored numbers.

GOLD FEVER – Obliged to alter course leaving the 300m. Leaving the 100m, bumped by WARRIOR HEAD and became unbalanced.

AKERMANIS – Leaving the 100m, shifted out and brushed WARRIOR HEAD before being corrected by its rider.
