Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1110 MGROOVIN' THE MOO – Shortly after passing the 1000m had to be checked after being carried onto the rail by LENNIC. THANKYOU HENRY – Raced wide throughout. KAVAK – Raced wide throughout. DEER TRAIL – Hampered passing the 900m. Passing the 600m was hampered when racing in restricted room between INSTAGOOD which shifted in marginally and GROOVIN’ THE MOO. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. HOOT 'N' HOLLER – Passing the 900m, steadied to avoid the heels of GROOVIN’ THE MOO which had to be checked. LENNIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Commenced to over race passing the 1000m and improved into restricted running room between GROOVIN’ THE MOO and NEW HAMPSIRE. Over raced during the middle stages. Passing the 600m, shifted out contacting NEW HAMPSHIRE on a number of occasions. NEW HAMPSIRE – Bumped multiple times rounding the home turn by LENNIC which was attempting to shift out to improve. Jockey N. Callow rider of LENNIC was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. INSTAGOOD – Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 2200 MTRUE MARVEL (FR) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having an extended period of time off and was cleared to start. Passing the winning post on the 1st occasion, obliged to steady to avoid the heels of DIABLO BOLT which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester rider of DIABLO BOLT was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. YOUTH SPIRIT (IRE) – Began awkwardly. LINTHORPE LAD – Passing the winning post on the 1st occasion was obliged to steady from the heels of TRUE MARVEL (FR). BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Race 3: SKY RACING QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS HANDICAP 1110 M BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME – Shifted in on jumping. PRETTY DUBIOUS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after kicking the rail in the mounting enclosure and was subsequently cleared to start. MISHANI PRINCE – Began awkwardly. Over raced whilst in restricted room approaching the 900m. PENROD – Raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. THEE CREEK – Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. Approaching the 900m, steadied to avoid the heels of PRETTY DUBIOUS which shifted in. Jockey V. Duric rider of PRETTY DUBIOUS was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Held up for a short distance approaching the 300m and was obliged to shift out to improve. TORO CHASE – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 300m by THEE CREEK which shifted out to improve. ARGENTUM ROCK – Buffeted at the start between runners. SON OF A LIE – Shifted out on jumping. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Race 4: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 2YO FILLIES HANDICAP 1110 MCorrect weight was delayed allowing connections of CARBONARA to view the film to ascertain if CARBONARA was afforded a fair start. After viewing the films, the connections elected to not take the matter any further and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphore board numbers. IMPERVIOUS – Began awkwardly and bumped LONESOME SOUL. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight to a point passing the 250m before shifting out to improve. LONESOME SOUL – Began awkwardly and bumped IMPERVIOUS. Jockey J. Bayliss reported his mount raced greenly throughout. CARBONARA – Reared as the start was affected and lost significant ground. Trainers’ representative for R. Heathcote was advised CARBONARA would require a further barrier certificate prior to resuming. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. READY FOR ZION – Hampered on entering the home straight by VIVIKA which shifted out to improve. Jockey D. Thornton rider of VIVIKA was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. VIVIKA – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Passing the 600m was obliged to steady from heels. Race 5: BECOME A BRC MEMBER BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1615 MBRENTWOOD – Apprentice J. Hampson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mild heat stress. LIONEL (GB) – Laid in under pressure near the 600m. TRIFLING – Restrained after the start to a rearward position. CALM SEEKER (NZ) – Over raced during the early stages. JONNY DA WOLF (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages until taking up a position outside the leader passing the 1000m. ALL'S FAIR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Disappointed after attempting to shift out to improve passing the 600m. SHADOW POWER – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve. HILLCREST AVENUE (IRE) – Rounding the turn passing the 1400m, commenced to over race, shifted out and raced wide until the 900m. WHO ORDERED DAFISH – Lost its near fore plate. Race 6: XXXX BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 MMAXIMUM VORTEX – Passing the 200m, hampered when racing in restricted room the inside of AMORE VELOCE which shifted in before being corrected. HURTS SO GOOD – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight by HELLISH which shifted out to improve. Jockey J. Stanley rider of HELLISH was advised to exercise greater care when shifting. HE'S HEAVEN – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer D. Forster stated that at its most recent start at Eagle Farm, the gelding was slow to begin and resented racing back in the field, today Jockey S. Collett was instructed to not fight HE’S HEAVEN and to settle where comfortable. She also added that she applied earmuffs for the first time today in an attempt to help the gelding settle. ZOUPERB – Trainer A. Campton was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. HELLISH – Trainer C. Taylor advised HELLISH would attempt to be ridden further back with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Shifted out and bumped REDZOUST. Rider J. Stanley reported he was concerned with the action of the gelding over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have the thumps. REDZOUST – Held up for clear running passing the 200m and was unable to be fully tested at any stage during the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to both hind legs. Race 7: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 3YO HANDICAP 1110 MASTAPOR – Trainer C. Taylor advised ASTAPOR would attempt to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Passing the 600m, had to be steadied when tightened for room by MISHANI ROCK which improved into a position after PETTICOAT shifted out after becoming awkwardly placed on heels but then shifted back in shortly thereafter. When questioned regarding ASTAPOR settling further back, Jockey J. P. Stanley reported that after beginning only fairly, at a point approaching the 900m, he was unable to hold a position to the outside of DREAM SMART and as a result, settled further back than anticipated. MISHANI ROCK – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Over raced throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 200m, had difficulty obtaining clear running and was obliged to shift out. PETTICOAT – Approaching the 100m, obliged to steady from the heels of READY TO IGNITE which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey J. Byrne rider of READY TO IGNITE pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift out under riding over the final 100m and as a result carried PETTICOAT onto BONFIRE SPARK, carrying that runner onto the heels of COSMO CENTAURUS resulting in BONFIRE SPARK becoming crowded for room and having to steady from the heels of COSMO CENTAURUS. Jockey J. Byrne’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 23/2/2025 up to and including midnight 2/3/2025. SURPRISE HONEY – Apprentice E. Lang reported she had to work hard from the wide barrier and in her opinion, this had a detrimental effect on the filly’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. COSMO CENTAURUS – Raced four wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have the thumps. LIMAHULI – Began awkwardly. Race 8: MORETON HIRE OPEN HANDICAP 1200 MALL THAT PIZZAZZ – Raced wide throughout. AT WITZ END – Raced wide throughout. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight. SAFEWORK – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MISHANI SNIPER – Hampered passing the 1150m. Over raced during the early and middle stages. HATCHET – Passing the 1150m, had to be checked and lost significant ground after being tightened for room by SAFEWORK which improved to its inside and MISHANI SNIPER who was carried in by AT WITZ END who was awkwardly placed at the heels of MASTER SHOWMAN which shifted in. Apprentice C. Collis rider of MASTER SHOWMAN was advised to exercise greater care. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. MASTER SHOWMAN – Apprentice C. Collis reported his mount proved disappointing and could offer no explanation for today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cardiac arrythmia. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised MASTER SHOWMAN would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of ECG results prior to trialing and would also require a cardiac auscultation performed post-trial. DON'T STOP – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Race 9: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW CLASS 6 PLATE 1350 MEZEKEIL – Approaching the 1000m, hampered whilst racing in restricted room to the inside of CORFE CASTLE which shifted in before being corrected. ATLANTIC OCEAN – Trainer’s representative for C. Waller advised a change of tactics and ATLANTIC OCEAN would be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. After beginning awkwardly, was unable to take up a forward position. Passing the 300m, obliged to steady from the heels of EZEKEIL which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey A. Jones rider of EZEKEIL pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) that passing the 300m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ATLANTIC OCEAN and as a result had to check to avoid the heels of EZEKEIL. Jockey A. Jones’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight 1/3/2025 up to and including midnight 11/3/2025. BLACK DUKE – Bumped after the start. SHIHAB – Shortly after jumping was hampered. Over raced during the middle stages. Near the 700m was steadied after improving onto heels. ATMOSPHERE – As Jockey J. Huxtable was overweight, he was subsequently replaced by J. Bayliss. Jockey J. Huxtable was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Bruce was advised ATMOSPHERE would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to resuming. NAVAL TRADER – Raced wide throughout. YOSHINO – Began awkwardly and bumped BLACK DUKE. Raced wide throughout. ZOOLOGY (GB) – Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor stated that he could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers’ representative for C. Maher was advised ZOOLOGY would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to resuming. RED DEFCON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Obliged to alter course on entering the home straight. Following this race, Apprentice C. Collis was stood down due to dehydration. Apprentice C. Collis was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming. Race 10: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES OPEN HANDICAP - ***WEIGHTS RAISED 1.0*** 1615 MJUNIPAL – Bumped after the start. WARP SPEED – Lost its near hind plate. KRONENBOURG (NZ) – Laid in during the early part of the home straight before being corrected. Raced wide throughout. TORRENS – As Apprentice C. Collis was stood down following race 9, he was subsequently replaced by Apprentice S. Grima. DEVASTATE (NZ) – Over raced during the middle stages. JETTY – Began awkwardly. Apprentice B. Wheeler stated that after being hampered in the early stages, his mount failed to let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. KORUTO – Bumped after the start. Held up for clear running passing the 300m up until approaching the 100m. THAT'S MOLLY – Raced in restricted room approaching the 100m to the inside of JUNIPAL which shifted in marginally. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was fined $200 pursuant to AR 211(1) after he weighed in excess of the 0.5kg allowance. RED TOP – Raced wide throughout. KIPLING'S JOURNEY – Trainer W.
