GENERAL

As rider J. Huxtable was ill, he was replaced as per the Stewards summary. Jockey Huxtable was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again.

Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE MAIDEN HANDICAP                     1110 Metres

HELL MARCH – Began awkwardly.
 
SPARTUS – Began awkwardly.
 
MEHRETU – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
MORE FOR READY – Inconvenienced and carried wider for a short distance leaving the 800m.  
 
MISSISSIPPI DREAM (NZ) – Began awkwardly and hampered.
 
DASHING HOPE – Began awkwardly.
 
ONE DREAM AWAY - As jockey V. Duric was overweight, he was replaced by jockey C. Graham. Jockey V. Duric was fined $200 under AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
MISSABEAT – Slow to begin. Laid out from the 500m.
 

Race 2: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP             1650 Metres

THE DARK SIDE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 900m, when the pace of the race slackened improved onto heels and shifted wider.
 
PERFECT DAWN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hindleg. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that PERFECT DAWN will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing or trialing again.
 
ROTHECATE – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, had to be steadied when crowded for room to the outside of PERFECT DAWN, which was taken outwards by MAD ANA. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BLACK ASSASSIN – Began awkwardly. Raced wider until the 1000m. Over raced when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. Approaching the 900m, when the pace of the race slackened improved onto heels and shifted wider.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (3).
 

Race 3: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        1350 Metres

BUSKER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after kicking a fence in the tie up area and was cleared to start. Over raced during the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
EXPLOSIVE TYCOON – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Leaving the 200m, momentarily became awkwardly placed at the heels of BUSKER.
 
PRANCING PAYTON - Over raced during the middle stages. Jockey G. Cartwright reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SILK WARRIOR – Raced wide throughout. Steadied approaching the winning post when racing in restricted room between BUSKER and HUMID which both shifted ground.
 
DIVINE DI – Approaching the 200m obliged to alter course and shift in to obtain clear running. Approaching the 50m, steadied from heels of HUMID which shifted out when racing greenly.
 
SOME STYLE – Apprentice E. Lang dropped her whip at the 100m.
 
HUMID – Over raced during the middle stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
HE'S FINESSE (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
 
Race 4: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW MAIDEN PLATE      1350 Metres

INTRUDER – Raced wide until the 800m. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
TOTSPUR – Raced keenly during the middle stages.
 
TRUMP CARD (NZ) – Bumped and hampered on jumping. Improved onto heels approaching the 100m and obliged to shift in to secure clear running. Rider V. Duric reported that the gelding had a tendency to race greenly throughout the event particularly when placed under pressure from the 600m point.
 
VERMILION KIRIN – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after the start. Had difficulty securing clear running over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
IL PATRIGNO – Raced keenly during the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.  
 
TAJALAT (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly during the middle stages.
 
WINDOW TAPPER – Lost the off-hind plate in running.
 
AZAFRAN – Shifted out on jumping. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
 
WYNETTE – Jockey C. Graham was fined $200 under AR227(a) in that she was negligent in that after the completion of the race, she proceeded to the female jockeys room before weighing in, resulting in the clerk of scales directing her back to the weigh in area where she weighed in to the satisfaction of stewards.
 
MURMURS – Slow to begin. Momentarily became awkwardly placed at the heels of IL PATRIGNO when that runner laid out under pressure.
 
OUT OF LUCK – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after the start. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Had difficulty securing clear running over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
WITHEREN LASS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be stepping short in the near foreleg. Trainer L. Hearn was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 

Race 5: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP              1200 Metres

BUGALUGS – Apprentice C. Bellamy was reprimanded under AR132(6)(b) for raising her whip arm above shoulder height.
 
BAD EDUCATION – Began awkwardly. When over racing, steadied from heels near the 800m. Approaching the 200m, was disappointed for a run between BUGALUGS and GALAXY GENERAL and was then held up for clear running until leaving the 50m. 
 
KEEP SAFE – Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
LION CLASS – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
NORTH OF ELI – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels near the 700m when the pace of the race slackened and shifted out.
 
IMPENDOR – Raced wide throughout.
 
CRACKER ESSGEE – Began awkwardly. Forced wider near the 700m by NORTH OF ELI which shifted out.
 
UNDER THE PALAIS – Rider J. Murphy reported that his mount didn’t appreciate today’s racing surface.
 

Race 6: SKY RACING CLASS 4 HANDICAP           1350 Metres

TREPORTI – Shifted in on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
CAN'T GETWHATIWANT – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and was then disappointed for a run approaching the 300m and had to be steadied. Held up at the heels of SPILL THE SECRET and TREPORTI until leaving the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DEMON DARB – Hampered between runners on jumping.
 
SPILL THE SECRET – Laid in rounding the home turn. Leaving the 50m, had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of CACOFONIX. Jockey A. Allen reported that his mount was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
BECAMO – Shifted out on jumping.
 
 
Race 7: MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP          1650 Metres

EXPRESS PAYMENT – Shifted out on jumping and bumped SWEET PROPOSAL. Jockey J. Bayliss dropped his whip near the 250m.
 
RED MILE – Hung out rounding the home turn. Jockey M. Rodd reported that his mount didn’t appreciate today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed RED MILE to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps. Trainer K. Schweida reported that it was his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
SPEED MAP – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn behind the weakening RED MILE.  
 
TAMBOURINE MAN – Slow to begin.
 
SWEET PROPOSAL – Bumped on jumping.
 
SEA OF QI – Over raced during the early and middle stages. At the 1300m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of SPEED MAP.
 

Race 8: LADBROKES PUNTER ASSIST CLASS 1 HANDICAP              1110 Metres

SER JOH – Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn attempted to shift out to improve and bumped with INDAZA. Approaching the 200m, shifted out to and bumped heavily with INDAZA.
 
DANCE WIZZARD – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 500m.
 
CONCESSION – Began awkwardly.
 
DATA LEAK – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay out during the middle stages.
 
ROSE NOIR – Raced wide during the early stages
 
THROWIN SHADE – Began awkwardly. At the 200m, obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of INDAZA which shifted out after being bumped by SER JOH. Cast the off fore plate in running. Apprentice B. Wheeler, rider of SER JOH, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 200m, he directed his mount outwards initiating contact with INDAZA (E. Lang) which became unbalanced and was forced outwards and into the rightful running of THROWIN SHADE (J. Guthmann-Chester), causing that its rider to take hold and direct his mount outwards to avoid the heels of ROSE NOIR. Apprentice Wheeler’s license to ride in races was suspended for nine days commencing at midnight the 1st of March 2025 and ending at midnight 10th of March 2025. Apprentice Wheeler was advised of his appeal rights.
 
INDAZA – Bumped rounding the home turn by SER JOH which when that runner was attempting to shift out to improve. Bumped heavily and became unbalanced at the 200m by SER JOH which shifted out.
 
ZOUTHUR (NZ) – Approaching the 900m brushed the running rail after being crowded by INDAZA which shifted in away from CONCESSION.
