Race 1: Carlton Mid Class 6 H’Cap - 1200m

As App A. Holt was overweight stewards permitted App A. Allen to be substituted as the rider of EPIC.

ROCK ACADEMY (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

BYMONASHEE (L. Cassidy) jumped away awkwardly.

ROBBERS ROOST (G. Boss) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with EPIC (App A. Allen).

IONA FAST ONE (P. Holmes) and NICKY NOCKY (J. Taylor) both overraced in the middle stages of the event.

Making the home turn IONA FAST ONE shifted out from behind the heels of STAR SAMMY (App S. Payne) and brushed SNITSKY (M. Cahill).

BYMONASHEE was held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until approaching the 100m.

When asked to comment on the disappointing performance of STAR SAMMY App Payne explained that the gelding overraced in the middle stages and hung in from the 600m. App Payne added that despite this he felt the horse was travelling well when entering the home straight however, when placed under full pressure proved disappointing and failed to run on as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination revealed STAR SAMMY had sustained minor lacerations to both hind pasterns.

Race 2: Hardy Brothers Jewellers QTIS 3YO H'Cap - 1200m

Trainer B. Baldwin was fined the sum of $100.00 for presenting PANDORA CHARM without blinkers, which is part of its normal racing gear.

The start was delayed when AGITATE was reluctant to proceed to the barriers and ARCHITECT had to be resaddled.

ALLHAPPENINGAGAIN (App T. Harrison) jumped away awkwardly.

PANDORA CHARM (T. Clark) knuckled at the start.

TOTAL AUTHORITY (J. Taylor) raced wide in the early stages of the event.

TOTAL AUTHORITY lost its off hind plate in running.

LIMEHILLS (J. Byrne) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

FIXATION (R. Wiggins) shifted out on jumping away and made contact with STORMING PLEASURE (T. Bell).

OUR ROCK O'REILLY (G. Boss) and BAYROCK (T. Berry) came together on jumping away.

OUR ROCK O'REILLY overraced in the early stages of the event.

Near the 1300m OUR ROCK O'REILLY shifted out and hampered HOMEHILL (R. McMahon) when LIMEHILLS improved quickly to its inside.

LIMEHILLS was held up rounding the home turn and was disappointed for a run between BAYROCK and STORMING PLEASURE, which shifted in slightly near the 300m.

R. Wiggins the rider of FIXATION was issued with a reprimand for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

When asked to comment on the disappointing performance of BAYROCK jockey T. Berry stated that after travelling well throughout the filly weakened very badly when placed under full pressure in the straight and could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination of BAYROCK revealed the filly to have a slow post race recovery.

Near the 200m ROCKY KING (App T. Harrison) had to be steadied when tightened for room between ADEBISI (M. Cahill) and HOWMUCHDOYOULOVEME (N. Rawiller), which after being taken in slightly by SEEKING MORE (G. Boss), hung in away from that runner.

A post race veterinary examination of CAPE KIDNAPPERS (D. Browne) revealed the gelding was lame in off fore leg and a routine swab sample was taken. Mr Schweida was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to CAPE KIDNAPPERS racing again. Trainer K. Schweida advised the gelding will now be sent for an immediate spell.

Stewards asked N. Rawiller to comment on the disappointing performance of HOWMUCHDOYOULOVEME. Jockey Rawiller stated that the horse was under significant pressure from before the 500m and laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Rawiller further stated that in his view the gelding did not stretch out comfortably at any stage over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of HOWMUCHDOYOULOVEME revealed no abnormalities.

Near the 900m LONHSPRESSO (B. Melham) was momentarily hampered when AVOID LIGHTNING (T. Clark) shifted in slightly.

COSMIC ENDEAVOUR (T. Berry) was held up in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 300m DRIEFONTEIN (D. Browne) attempted to shift out from behind the heels of the tiring PLATINUM ROCKER and in doing so made contact with RED TRACER.

MYAMIRA (R. Thompson), PLATINUM ROCKER and PERON (M. Cahill) all raced wide without cover throughout the event.
