Race 1: www.brc.com.au Benchmark 75 H'cap - 2200m
LIGHT MOTION – Apprentice C. Schmidt was fined $200 for changing her riding boots after weighing out and riding in those boots.
COUP D'ETAT – Slow to begin.
OUR PLAYDOUGH – Raced 3 wide in the middle stages of the race.
ROCK THE PAC – Trainer L. Gough was reprimanded for failing to advise stewards that gelding would be ridden forward today, which is in contrast to its most recent starts.
Race 2: Hamilton Hotel QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1500m
ASHIKO – Examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers at the request of its rider and was cleared to start.
MADLUCE MISSILE – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to racing again.
RHYMING – Hampered at the start.
DENBERN – Hampered at the start.
HI HARRY – Overraced in the middle stages. Rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight was unable to obtain clear running. Passing the 200m, shifted in slightly and bumped the hind quarters of DAPPER ONE, which was also shifting out.
SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – Had to be checked near the 500m when tightened for room between CAPTAIN DODGE and HI HARRY, which shifted out away from GOOD LUCK MALELA, which also shifted out. When asked to explain the performance, jockey A. Spinks advised that the filly never travelled comfortably and was under pressure from the 600m and proved disappointing today.
DAPPER ONE – Bumped on the hind quarters passing the 200m and became unbalanced.
CAPTAIN DODGE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
AIRLIE REWARD – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, apprentice L. Tarrant explained that when obliged to race wide in the early stages he allowed the horse to stride forward, which, in his opinion, did not suit his mount as he was of the view it is better ridden with cover. Trainer T. Hall agreed with these comments, and undertook to report back to stewards any abnormalities that may come to light which may explain today's performance. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which compounded badly in the home straight, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 3: Natural Pest Control QLD Benchmark 80 H'cap - 1400m
LAST SIGHT – Slow to begin.
BUSHY – Shifted in and brushed the running rail near the 1000m.
MARKSFIELD – Raced wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 800m.
BROTHERLY SECRET – Overraced in the middle stages when racing 3 wide without cover.
KAISER FRANZ – Raced 3 wide throughout.
SKYLIMIT – Jockey B. Stewart explained that his mount raced flat today and was disappointing. Trainer T. Gollan advised that he would monitor the horse's post race recovery and make a decision whether to proceed with its current preparation.
Race 4: AQWA Construction Open NMW H'cap - 1000m
STELLA OMBRA – Reared at the start and lost ground.
BUSH CAVIAR – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
MORNING FOG – Had to be steadied approaching the 900m when momentarily tightened for room.
CHARCOAL MELODY – Bumped heavily by BAGGER CHANCE near the 800m. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which compounded badly over the final 300m, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
OL' BROWN EYES – Raced wide throughout.
HAMMOON BOY – Lost its near fore plate in running.
Race 5: BRC Spring Carnival Open H'cap - 1830m
REVITALISE – Apprentice S. Fawke was fined $200 for failing to claim his full allowance.
DECONSTRUCTED – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. When asked to explain the performance, J. Lloyd stated that he was obliged to race wide throughout, however the gelding did not respond to his riding in the home straight and was disappointing.
RETUNE – Raced 3 wide throughout.
Race 6: Veuve Society H'cap - 1400m
TRANSPORTER – Jumped away awkwardly.
MOON AND THE STARS – Inconvenienced soon after the start.
ONE INCH PUNCH – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
PUNTA NORTE – Lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 7: BRC Christmas Carnival Calss 6 Plate – 1600m
SILENTO – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
LONELY ORPHAN – Slow to begin.
BODEGA NEGRA – Raced 3 wide without cover.
GOOD JOB BRO – Raced 3 wide.
LE CHEF – A post race veterinary examination of the the horse to be suffering from the thumps and short striding behind. Trainer D. Hansen advised he would review its current preparation.
Race 8: Trackside Penair Cinema Class 6 H'cap - 1200m
STRICTLY CONCERT – Slow to begin.
CONSORTING - Overraced in the early and middle stages.
TAILEVENT – Raced 3 wide without cover.
FIRE WITHIN – Hung out rounding the home turn.
MARSCAY FORCE – Tightened for room passing the 500m.
Race 9: Chairman's Club Class 6 H'cap - 1200m
MOST IMPORTANT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
ELIMINATOR – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
WILD 'N' FAMOUS – Jockey D. Browne reported that his mount travelled well, when placed under pressure soon soon after straightening failed to respond to his riding and commenced to lay out under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a routine swab sample was taken.
Race 10: For Sale – 126 Mein Street Hendra Class 3 Plate – 1500m
THERMAL UNIT – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2.20 pm after being injured in its float en route to the track.
FIRST STIMULUS – Slow to begin.
ANNIHILATION – Had to be restrained from heels when overracing passing the 1000m.
HENRYVONHUFEISEN – Raced wide throughout.
BECKONING LIGHT – Raced 3 wide without cover.
ONE MANSINI – Over the final stages when weakening had to be steadied when tightened for room between HOTEL COSTE and FASTQUEST, which shifted in. Raced wide throughout.
