Race 1: Rawgroup Hospitality Open H’Cap - 2212M

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4 retrospective.
 
 
Race 2: The Duporth Tavern QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 1000M
 
MANIAS – Jumped awkwardly almost dislodging its rider.

RUMBA QUEEN – Jumped awkwardly.
 
DON'T PLAY AROUND – Jumped awkwardly.
 
KING TORIO – Slow to begin.
 
NICCONI LEGGERA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
 
Race 3: Beach House Bar & Grill Benchmark 85 H’Cap - 1000M
 
KUDERO – Jumped awkwardly and was tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER – When weakening approaching the 300m was briefly tightened for room between runners.  Jockeys  P. Hammersley (BEAU JET) and B. Pengelly (KUDERO) were both advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Raced wide without cover throughout.  A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
 
P. Hammersley (BEAU JET) was fined $200.00 for failing to ride his mount right to the finish line.  Stewards were not satisfied that his riding had cost connections second place.
 
Race 4: Hotel Beach House Fillies & Mares Class 6 H'Cap - 1400M
 
VICTORY PARADE – Slow to begin.
 
GYPSY SECRET – Bumped shortly after the start.  App L. Tarrant reported at scale that his saddle slipped shortly after the start placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
 
App B. Stower the rider of BUON AUSPICIO pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift in passing the 1000m when not clear taking SECRET PUZZLE in onto LEICA BITA LIPPY, which had to be checked. App Stower's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 28 September 2016 and expire midnight 7 October 2016.  Jockey B. Stewart (SECRET PUZZLE) was fined $200.00 for using abusive language towards App Stower during the incident.
 
SECRET PUZZLE – Bumped approaching the 400m.
 
LADY DUPORTH – Bumped approaching the 400m.
 
Race 5: Madame Wu Open H'Cap - 1200M
 
EL SASSO – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BIG TREE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 6: CPTN Kings Beach Class 3 Plate - 1200M
 
MR WIND – Jumped awkwardly, bounded losing ground and then raced wide.  When being steadied off heels near the 900m got its head up and raced ungenerously for a short distance.
 
POWERFUL SAGA – Bumped approaching the first turn.
 
RAINBOW LACE – Near the 500m was briefly tightened for room between runners and had to be steadied.  Raced wide without cover.
 
REVALDOR – Near the 500m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
Race 7: Hervey Bay Hotel & Resort Benchmark 75 H’Cap - 1840M
 
Trainer L. Birchley was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App S. Fawke as the rider of DECONSTRUCTED.
 
DECONSTRUCTED – Slow to begin (3L).
 
BRAZEN MOSS – Slow to begin.  Raced wide without cover from after leaving the 1000m. Near the 250m had to be checked when tightened for room between LAST SIGHT, which shifted in after being bumped and CASH SPINNER, which shifted away from WALK TO THE BAR.
 
LAST SIGHT – Slow to begin.
 
RISING LUCK – Shortly after entering the straight shifted out when taking WALK TO THE BAR, CASH SPINNER and BRAZEN MOSS wider.
 
ROCKY ON IVY – Near the 50m had to be steadied when tightened for room between runners.
 
Race 8: Champagne Gallery Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 6 H'Cap - 1400M
 
I DO CARE – Slow to begin.  
 
BORIS BADENOV – Jumped awkwardly.
 
RED DYNAMITE – Pulled hard in the middle stages.
 
FIRE WITHIN – Held up in the early stages of the straight.
 
FRIENDLY DRAGON – Near the 150m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
HEROISM – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
P. Hammersley (I DO CARE) was fined $200.00 for returning to scale overweight.
 
BUSHY – When questioned regarding the gelding's performance jockey M. Cahill stated that after being held up behind the leaders approaching the turn he was unable to improve his position until near the 300m.  Jockey Cahill added that in hindsight it may have been a better option to improve to the outside.  He added that BUSHY only responded fairly over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormality.
