GENERAL

As M. Cahill was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Fernwood Fitness QTIS 2yo H'cap -  1000m

On return to scale a protest was lodged by  Jockey J. Lloyd, rider of the 3rd placegetter, Tiara Star, against Acceptile being declared the 2nd placegetter, on the grounds of interference passing the 400m.  After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol video,  it was established that passing the 400m Acceptile shifted out, taking Wirraway outwards, which then made contact with Tiara Star, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced.  Stewards found that the interference sustained by Tiara Star at this stage materially affected its finishing position and therefore upheld the protest and amended the Judge's placings to read:    No. 8 – Dream Kisses – 1st    No. 10 – Tiara Star – 2nd    No. 1 – Acceptile  - 3rd   No. 6 – Wirraway – 4th.  Subsequently, G. Geran, rider of Acceptile, was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to prevent his mounts shifted ground.

He added that his mount continued to overrace until Lever Lever went forward passing the 1200m.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

EMERALD CITY – Tightened for room when Rock The Pac laid in under pressure near the 700m.  Forced wider on the track near the 400m.  Apprentice J. Oliver, in the presence of  Mr K. Kemp, was questioned regarding his whip action over the concluding stages when joined by  Lever Lever, which shifted out under pressure.  Stewards found that whilst apprentice Oliver had changed his whip action, they were not of the opinion that his action had changed to the extent that a breach of the rules had occurred.
