Jockey A. Spinks (CONSORTING) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in approaching the first turn taking NEPTUNE PALACE (App B. Grylls) in onto IN HIS STRIDE (App T. Brooker), resulting in both horses being severely hampered and then taken in onto REVALDOR (T. Harrison), which had to be checked and lost its position.  Jockey Spinks' licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days to commence midnight 6 November 2016 and expire midnight 17 November 2016.  In assessing penalty stewards took into account that the incident was in the mid-range of carelessness, jockey Spinks' guilty plea and his good race riding record.

App J. Oliver (TOP TONE) was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in leaving the 1000m, which prevented A. Spinks (CONSORTING) relieving the tightening to runners to his inside.

MOST IMPORTANT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MAN OF HIS WORD - Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount hung out from the 600m and continued to do so until near the 300m.

DESERT MAN – Jockey G. Colless explained that his horse travelled well but did not respond to his riding and felt flat today, which he attributed to being second up from a long spell.
